I saw this battle a while ago in the old OVA. This is the fight that got me into Jojo, I think it's one of the best battles I've seen, period.

Yeah, that has always looked weird to me. At first I thought he had some weird metal implants on his cheeks, but now I think it's just a grey side-beard.

Awesome episode overall. About time someone put D'arby in his place and that man is Jotaro. Way to go man and tbh, that was a very clever strategy to use psychological tactics against him rather than just pure gambling skills.

I rewatched OVA episode right after anime episode and what I can say: episode was better than OVA in almost every point except two things: Jotaro's voice and camera roll (err... I forgot how it's called in English, sorry ) after cigarette and before juice. As for the D'Arby's voice... It's practically the same. Yes, I'm serious. This one's Engrish more noticable and hammy, though.

Oh, and boy's design is better in OVA.

As far as I remember every volume has been sold over 10k so far so I guess you can say that sales are

It's against the law to show an underage character smoke in Japan so, yes, they had to paint a black mask over his face.

Pretty pleased with the episode, I could notice some nods to the Capcom game version of the Barbie fight and also some small nods to the Orbi fight in the OVA, pretty much goes to show how much the staff loves jojo.

The only part that felt "bad" was when the episode was cheaping it out in the animation; like Jotaro turning around D'arby's cards, or Abdul sitting outside the screen; some cool scenes that the OVA missed were there, such as D'arby flipping a book. Sadly there is the missing the scene when Jotaro discovers the kid not being innocent; but that was OVA original anyway; I really missed that one. I'm soo gonna check the BDs later to see if the change the "animation saving" oddities.

As for D'arby, this has to be the best role that I have heard ever from Banjou Ginga (and I have been stalking him ever since the 80s). The voice range and acting was completely superb, truly shows what a veteran can do when he gets serious; however it's hard to say if Ginga was better than Utsumi, since this is Utsumi we are talking about.

edit : I loved how everyone but Jotaro had Asthma this episode.
