Well until we know her better I go with "bat ears" as it is more "vampiery".
Like it's some kind of harmless vampire pride, seeing how happily she can talk about feeling uncomftable in direct sunlight.

That was cute.
And suprisingly nowhere as feishly as I was expecting. While not particularly unqiue take on the monster girl crazy the execution is really what 's making it stand out. I don't know if I will stick with since it doesn't give me the drive to want see the next episode immediately, but I like what I saw. |

Watched episode 1:
This is anice anime... and when did vampire girls suddenly have cat ear style hair. xD!! This is a cute start. Although I'm a bit worried that there might be episodes with issues about discrimination later on.. And also why the biology teacher sounds like Berkman from Shumatsu no Izetta..

Ep 1:
I must admit I was not sure what to expect, having not read the manga (which I now learned is different anyway) and having seen parts of another "monster girl" anime some time ago which was rather narrowly focused on sexual attraction. When the first supernatural species to be introduced was a succubus, I was not surprised. But soon it turned out to actually be a very innocent, heart-warming episode. The biology teacher comes across as a genuinely good person whose interest in "demi-humans" is scientific curiostiy and not some kind of weird fetish. (That said, I can't help but notice that all the demis are female.) While the vampire and the snow girl could be taken as mutants in the scientific sense, the dullahan seems clearly supernatural, or at best a Marvel style mutant. The green fire from her throat serves to make the image look less like she was violently decapitated, but it also raises the supernatural level of the whole story. I would not be surprised to see some more supernatural manifestations of the other demi-humans at a later time. Speaking of the dullahan, it seems the body retains its sense of touch and control of the muscles even when the head is some distance away. It can grasp things and even walk. Well, the first episode was mainly focused on the vampire, it seems the dullahan is up next. It will be interesting to see how many episodes they can fill with so small a cast. (I assume there are no important characters that are not shown in the OP or ED.) |

Episode 2:
Kyouko Machi is such an adorable character! I love the character chemistry between her and Tetsuo this episode. In particular, she is shy but is able to talk to him like a normal character. I think it's because she's a dullahan that she has a hard time socializing with others. Also thought Machi's VA did a good job at portraying her personality in this show so far. I think her character chemistry with the others in particular Hikari was entertaining to watch.

Machi is so precious. <3
I love how her body and head are connected, as seen with how her body stood up to go to the bathroom she saw yet she forgot her body was elsewhere, but that it still sometimes feels like her body is acting on its own. Like how it broke down after being told her body had to stay at home with Hikari-chan. xD Also people in the background where pretty cool about Sensei walking around with a girl's head. Like I would have expected way more looks or even freak outs or the like. Like with the gramps in the flashback, "You forgot your head, Machi!". xD Hikari is such a little mischievous devil, I love it. Like how she made Machi freak out by poking her boobs because it was "going too well". xD But she really got a considerate and thoughtful side to her, like mentioning to Sensei that Machi needs a backpack to make her everyday life easier. Same with Sensei, who told the principal to take that idea as his own so that the homeroom teacher's position isn't undermined as careless/thoughtless,etc. Seems like both Machi and Sakie-sensei have a muscular arms fetish.^^

Ep 02
Okay, that was yet another very good episode in my opinion. Really, really good. The adaptation is really nailing it quite well! One of the things a previous poster mentioned was the effectiveness in both the facial expressions and even bodily postures at conveying some of the things the characters are thinking or considering, and for me that really hit home in particular this episode with Macchi's bodily actions when it was alone with Hikari. I also liked the part about Sakie listening in on the conversation regarding the permission for a backpack and how she watched the follow-up conversation between Sensei and Machi the next day. Very well done. ^^

"Because your head will roll" XDXDXDXDXDXD That was glorious, Machi! I haven't laughed so hard in a long time. Ohh, this series is just what I needed.
So yes, Machi isn't just adorable (and just like Hikari, never reaches annoying levels) but also very funny once she opens up. and while it may sound mean, her situation is ripe for hilarious moments. Takahashi was right on in his suggestion to make her start the jokes. Meanwhile, Hikari continues being awesome and very mischevous (going straight for the "buttons"? That was bold, vampire-chan!), but still has her heart in the right place. Such lovely ladies You know, that backpack situation sounds like something that someone should've noticed a long time ago |

wonder if dullahans in particular to be more rare.
Only 3 in the world in existence atm? Not even rare would describe it, like super ultra rare. a teacher wanting to focus on demis should be dancing at being able to get such data first hand

That was a really nice episode. And it really does show how much work it would take for a Dullahan to deal with daily life. Maybe not surprising, but makes sense how much more it takes Machi than for someone like Hikari to get by. Though she has done a good job handling her daily life and figuring things out. Finding a way to just free up her hands and eat normally or making a comfortable spot for her head to sleep.
I'm glad Hikari didn't do more than one prank there since that would have been a bit much. It was nice though for her to recommend the backpack. For normal students it isn't a big deal, but Machi is more reliant on having her hands free than the average person. While it was secretly a date for Machi, this did actually teach her a few things. A question of what to do with her body during that. Maybe if she can't leave it with a friend she could just put herself in the bathroom beforehand or maybe just take it along with her head in the future. Nice episode. Machi is an adorable and fun character. I can imagine she does have more daily problems than most. For a lot of Demis it isn't obvious they are one at first glance. Even if other people don't mean to be rude, that hesitation can make it hard to interact. I agree that she herself making some light jokes might help break the ice a bit with others.

On another note, Machi's angle clearly seems to be about using the supernatural to highlight real life issues for being disabled, while Hikari seems more about the less obvious issue that uncommon dietary and medical needs can cause you in the greater world.... so I wonder what angle there going to take with the snow lady? |

Absolutely cute and funny episode 2. I just love this exploration of demis! I still wonder how the food and drinks go from Macchi's mouth to her body. She must have some kind of dimensional pocket inbetween that transmits the matter.
