Taking this lunch break time to post this. Being busy with works and the new football season. I am currently at vol 6 when Ai was trialed by the witch and Dee became her lawyer. I remembered I fell asleep during the earlier part of Vol 6 until Yuri came and karate-chopped Alis for holding her adopted daughter's (Ai) hand.
Of course, the reason I awoke was because he said "Chesssstooooooo"

If by going back to 12 years ago inside Ostea is considered a time skip, yes there is one in Vol 5. And Ai celebrated her 13th birthday inside the Sealed Country. Yuri gave her a barrette as a present while Alis gave her the repaired shovel and her GK uniform. Of course I don't know if there is one time-skip in vol 7 or 8.

Oh, Alis obtained his "Buzzer Beater" when he buzzer beater-ed the opponent team from 25 meters. He then quit basketball because he realized his ability is cheating. He thought that it is beautiful when a dream is not fulfilled and people strive to achieve them.
One of my favorite scene is when Ai challenged Alis to 1-on-1 without knowing the rules. She goal-tended him and played a full court .

Vol 3 ended with Yuri went Rambo to save Ai. He didn't do much though. Scar left her baby (parental neglect ) because of her identity crisis. The teachers of Gora were crazy bastards that they were wiling to kill those who tried to break out from the academy, saying that if the students died the school could always ship them to Ortus.

There was a scene with Ulla and Kiriko at the end of Vol 3 where they were lobbying for a start of a new rule after they denied the wish of the Elders when they helped Scar (now Ulla's mother) and the gang to escape Ortus earlier in the book. Ulla said that she would be a King, and Kiriko replied that he would make her one. Of course it is another story that won't be told in the LN. (damn you Mr. Author :P)

Vol 4 began with Ai leaving her school friends after staying a while at Tanya's house.
Celica was a Scar-detector, as Ai and her merry friends climbed a tower so high (1000+ floors) they saw the Aurora. There are Encyclopedia of Gravekeepers as people have been studying them, and the party witnessed how a Gravekeeper came to Earth.
They climbed a ZA TAWAA, where each floor gave a different setting. Considered it as a journey of Laki the Dead which was also a GK Hunter that killed and buried 23 GKs, as he was waiting the one GK that buried her sister long ago to bury himself.
They recovered Scar in the end, and Yuri, Scar, Celica, Ai (and Ulla) became a family.

Vol 5 took place inside Ostea, as Ai was looking the way to free the people from resetting that happened every July 28th. It was the day when Alis died and his 17 friends wished those happy days with Alis would return. Dee lose her powers when the seal was broken. She had her physical body now.

Okay back to work. I can't remember all the details, as my head hurts from all this MATLAB-ing. I'll try to answer further questions if I have the free time to reread those novels (when there are no football games :P).

And damn it Kino where is my copy of Kaminai manga vol 4? I don't want to do multiple journeys just to collect the manga and LN on different days.

This is just a brief outline of what happens in the third novel’s prologue (the chapter before the actually story starts) and, keep in mind, I didn’t really translate this, but my friend did! She’s naive in Japanese, and I’d asked her to translate what was happening before the actual story started. This wasn’t in the anime, but will probably be in the manga when they reach this point (if Japan haven’t already).

Ai runs through the darkness, and grabs her hat after it was blown away by the wind and then smacks her face into a wall. She climbs a tower, ties a rope to a gargoyle, allowing Scar and Celica to cross, and when Scar finally reaches her side and stands on top of the castle, Ai thinks that she’s changed a little and comments on it. Scar doesn’t seem to understand, but the slightly saddened look in her eyes when she asks “Is that so?” feels like some kind of proof to Ai. They talk a little about Scar’s baby.

Ai: “She really doesn’t wake up, does she?”

Scar: “She really doesn’t. She won’t cry for any other reason than to tell me she’s hungry. — It’s as if she doesn’t want to use her energy for anything other than growing.”

Ai: “I think I can relate to that a little.”

They begin to climb down the wall and out of the castle. They keep running, expecting to be stopped at any second but such a thing doesn’t happen and she’s so happy she could cry when they reach Julie’s van. She opens the door, shoves Kiriko aside, and gets in the van. They then keep on asking Scar if she was really going to go, and Kiriko starts thinking back to the week prior to the night Celica was born and how the elders of the city freaked out because a child who shouldn’t be born was born in the city of the dead and they’re like, “This must mean something.”

The elders think it’s a miracle, for them, but Kiriko, Ulla and Ai know that the child’s birth was not a miracle for the greedy elders but for the child herself! She just wanted to live. The elders then tried to tear Scar and Celica away from everyone else, hiding them in the eastern tower so they couldn’t come into contact with anyone else. The eastern tower was directly opposite from Ulla’s, her twin; the elders didn’t really mean anything by it and they really just put them in there because there was space, but that really angered Ulla, who could deal with the people lying to her but wouldn’t forgive them if they deceived anyone else, especially her sister.

She then started using her power as royalty to get Scar and Celica out but, because of that, the elders stripped her of her status. To the elders her powers were just a show so they stripped her of that status and made the Koroshiohake into nothing more than myth and removed her from their politics. Instead of worshiping the Koroshiohake, Ortus became a city that had the Goddess of Death in the western tower and the Goddess of Life in the eastern tower. no longer just a girl or a princess, they made Ulla into a “God” that wasn’t allowed to come in contact with anyone “below” her. Ulla is really upset and, when she sees Ai again, she laments about how she couldn’t help Scar but then Ai tells her that, if that was the case, she’ll kidnap her instead.

She then sneaks into the tower and helps Scar and Celica escape but Kiriko just sighs because she did all that and says, “I was so nervous!” Kiriko offers to keep her safe within the city grounds but she says that she can protect her daughter from harm but, when she was within the tower, she didn’t know what was harmful or how to protect Celica from the things that were in the tower so she had to leave. She then she has a little bonding moment with Ulla.

They then have to have someone open the western gates for them so they can escape, and Ai comments to Ulla about how it was amazing how much power she has just so people would open the gates for her. Ulla protests that she doesn’t have any power anymore, and that she just asked everyone to help her even if they might get arrested. Ai corrects her that that’s what her real power probably is, and then the three of them say their goodbyes right before they’re found by the guards.

The guards warn Ulla that, even if she’s the princess, she’ll have to be punished too, and Ulla complains that they only see her actions as a child’s prank even though she intended to put her own life on the line for this, and signals to the people working with her to use canons to blow those guards to bits. (They’re fine, picking up body parts and arguing over which one is whose.)

Ai: “Ulla this is a war, not an escape!”

Ulla: “If this was a war, we’d be using worse weapons. This is… a pretend war? Fiiiiire. Fiiiiire!”

Ai: “That’s too casual! Your war is too casual!”

Julie then drives them out and Kiriko describes the scene to Ulla until they’re gone, and then they turn around so they can deal with their own problems. Ulla asks Kiriko to take off her mask and he obliges, and she gets embarrassed when she yells out to everyone too loudly. She takes a deep breath, grabs Kiriko’s hand and makes him promise to stay by her side (Kiriko gloats in his head at Ai a little because that poor child doesn’t know how cute Ulla’s smile is ha ha) and then they step forward to fight in order to fix their town.

- In volume 5, was Dee the one who died, or was it Alis?

- Will Dee get her body back if the loop breaks?

- Is the anime version of Kamisama No Inai Nichiyoubi faithful to this?

- Can someone summarize the whole 8 volumes? I read every post in this thread, but I couldn't find much help, because they're all scattered.

I made a mistake. Alis and Dee got out 12 years ago, but Ai and her merry friends went back to 14 years ago. This means Alis experienced the resetting for 2 years before he could escape. He also mentioned that there were at least 2 major wars and one epidemic through out those 14 years.

By stupid I meant the 11th hour revelation, just like when Celica was brought to light in the dying pages of vol 2

Earlier in vol 6 Ai woke up from a nightmare where she buried Alis for the sake of her dream. Both the girls went to clean Alis' grave.

- Are you kidding? My "Za Tawaa" was not animated, and I went "Za Fakku!?" instead. Funny moments (which were aplenty) were omitted, and the anime tried to overplay with the emotions. But, like I said earlier, if the "emotions" parts were not played than Mikako-shi's song would probably had gotten little attention.

Then again, when the conclusion/outcome is more important than the process, I guess the anime is faithful to the source material.

-I don't know how to summarize non-technical paper

p.s. Not enough legs from Kitakoshi unlike many other females singer during the recent Anisama.

The anime just ended and I want to clarify which novel's volumes the episodes were adapted from. Is this correct?
Vol 1: Ep 1-3
Vol 2: Ep 4-6
Vol 3: Ep 7-8
Vol 4: Ep 9
Vol 5: Ep 10-12

Also, is vol 9 will be the final volume? If so then it's possible for the anime to get another season that will cover the rest of the volumes. But I hear the last arc in the anime had some differences with novel's vol 5 and it went with an anime original ending.

Yes for the second one, unless the author said otherwise in the future. If disk sales determine the possibility of Season 2, so don't hold your breath. Heck, don't hold your breath because you could die :P.

But then again, if Season 2 means more KitaKoshi, let's 成仏しようぜ！！

The anime ending is more the less like the novel, but of course there are differences. The most memorable one was that Ai didn't figure out that Alis was the one that died, and she was like "Eh? Eh?"

I'm not at my own PC, and definitely not in my room, so I don't have the books with me right now so let's watch football, so I can't answer for details. So where's my fellow Japanese readers at?

I think if people could make it to AnimeSuki, I'm positive that they can ask Bakatsuki forums for better brass tacks, if (and it is) this thread is not sufficient.

Just my 2 centimes:
I've been in a position where I had to depend on translation, so when I am Japanese-able, I've tried to return the favor by translating some manga (Gundam UC0081, and some /m/anga that you could not get the physical copies unless Yahoo! auction of friends in Japan or something) and eventually I stopped translating because I think it's not the right thing to do. I do feel bad for my editor though.

Now I've been buying my own entertainment, I'm not going to stop others to ask for translation, but AS is not the place. You'll have better chance at BakaTsuki.
Just make sure the translator is a Responsible Person, that he/she owns what's he/she working on.
Also, one of my pet peeves is when the translation goes something like this:
Japanese (free) -> some other language (free) -> English (absolutely it's going to be free at this stage).

I am not sure this is the right place to post as I am still wondering that if Alis died in the novel, then how come he is still around in the latest novel.

Well the shortest answer I can give you is that like some people already mentioned, Ai made a wish for Alis to come alive. Remember what Dee said about the wish? She said that this would have been avoided if the class actually wished that Alis would come back to life instead of wishing to eternally relive their school year in a loop.

Ironically, because it seems that without God, the students became the gods of the artificial world. What is more interesting is how that their behavior actually affected the real world (i.e. Dee was able to escape that world in a spirit form and Alis was able to get a real body outside). In a sense, Dee could leave because she didn’t remember the truth and eventually mistakenly thought that she was the one who died. The classmates are essentially prisoners of their own cage. The ironic part is that Alis, who is not part of the ones who made the wish, is spared from that, even though he is the reason they made that wish in the first place.

In fact, the original Alis died but the current Alis is not dead. That is why Scar couldn’t detect him. What sustained him was the wish of the class. However, Ai eventually made a permanent wish for Alis to remain. In other words, Alis was never brought back from the dead. It’s simply a wish for the current Alis to keep living. Ai’s wish allowed this to happen. If you think this is confusing, you can consider that the artificial world is an alternate universe in which Alis actually didn’t die. Ai was able to bring back Alis to the real world after that world collapsed. The artificial world kinda worked in reverse and was able to grant Ai’s wish as though God hasn’t abandoned the world (since the masters of the world are actually the students and now Ai as the last observer of that world)

So why doesn't Dee have a body? Because she's actually alive?

When both of them are still in the classroom alone, Ai thinks to herself that this world already has no master (observer), the world is already collapsing but she is able to support Alis’s existence like this. She can’t help but made a wish to bring Alis back, to revive him. (This is something unintentional on her part)
And like this, Alis got revived

Note:
Master (Observer) of the delusional world being the Class 3-4 students who made the wish, not including Alis because he didn’t make the wish. He is able to leave the world whenever he can unlike outsiders is because he is the reason/part of the wish that Class 3-4 made.

Alis is dead and he’d been given a formal burial by a gravekeeper (as mentioned in anime too).
The reason why Dee is a ghost outside is because Class 3-4 and her bodies are all trapped inside the world, if any of them leave without breaking the wish/the delusional world, they will only leave with their spirit form, without physical body . Alis can leave with physical body seem like it’s because his dead body is outside the delusional world, different from the rest of the class.”

Ok I am a little slow in pickings things up so I need one more clarification on the wish theory..to my understanding it is this

Alis died in the real world, but he was "recreated" in the illusory world by his classmates. However, because the illusory Alis was able to get out of the illusory world, he was able to interact with the real world and make real impacts on the world. Because of this the students of class 3-4 essentially played God and created a fake entity that was able to have real consequences. This inconsistency somehow enabled Ai to be able to wish that the illusory Alis would keep living instead of disappearing, instead of resurrecting the original Alis who died in the real world.

Did I get all of that?
