My reaction when I noticed it: FOR REAL?! From shady priest expert to his beloved golden friend. LMAO.
Can't wait listening to him chanting the 'spell', Jouji set the bar high in game I'm looking forward to listen to his version. Yuuichirou Umehara as Weather is perfection.

I'm at episode two, solid beginning. The lawyers troll ears in the first episode were so bizarre and they kept getting bigger as well. Loving the opening, soundtrack and visuals overall.
Also have to say this has probably been Netflix best release schedule so far. Releasing every thing in a batch before it starts airing in Japan prevents any fansubs from appearing. But it still suck as it kills any form of discussion as some people will binge it, others will take their sweet time. Is it really that hard to get this right Netflix?

The only good thing about Netflix getting this is the lack of censorship (except for the Stand names...). This is the cheapest Jojo has looked since part 2. It feels like they're working on pretty much no budget. Or perhaps the budget has been eaten by Jongalli A's ass.

When is the next batch of episodes coming out by the way?

Listening to Weather, then Pucci yell to White Snake made me fully understand their decision not to pick either Jouji or Sho.
Pucci is rather emotional in source material compare to EOH where he able to accompany DIO; White Snake is trace of how he view others and his voice also should be similar to Weather. Jouji is great but it would be difficult for him to perform condescending rant for White Snake. About low budget, I take it more as DP currently experimenting how far they can manage the budget between handdrawn and CGI. Kinda inevitable as in Part 6 there were a lot of moving stuffs, even more if they wanted to seriously animated Part 7.

In this batch, the only, almost entirely bad looking episode was Episode 11. A real shame, because I really like this fight in the manga. But each part has their notorious episodes when it comes to the lack of quality, so it cannot be helped. BD-sama should be able to patch it up to bearable levels.
So yeah, I think it was generally fine. More animation would have been welcomed, but at least it's not full of off-model faces. Johngalli was voiced by Hino Satoshi. It surprised me after Mugen Ressha-hen. From 100 to 0 real quick. What's missing compared to the manga: - Jolyne's backstory with Romeo's car crash was cut short. - Sensitive topics were omitted. Queers, potential racist imagery, gender displays. - Mickey Mouse is copyrighted, so instead we have Bugs Bunny. - No Tom Cruise guard mention either. - Naturally, since 50 chapters were covered, some scenes also completely got cut or changed. For example, Ermes entering the ghost room before Jolyne, so no female Anasui. Lang Rangler was Sugimoto. |
