I'm sure it still balances out somewhere south of Neutral, though.

Evil Cheese Smuggling Ring brought to justice .... Canadians are protected from smuggled cheese.

Well.... they were skipping around import taxes but it just seemed a rather amusing thing.

I can't talk about the situation on the Rest of Canada, but in Québec, what I would call the ''milk's lobby'' is very powerfull (you would only have to look about all the past drama about the color of the margarine). The situation is good for the big productor and much less for the small ones and the consummers.

Dunno. It's not like I'd want to trust Chinese dairy products.

I wouldn't want the Chinese dairy product either, but we still could get it cheaper from the US.
Of course the best would be to stop to over-protect that industry at the expence of pretty much everyone exept the big productors.

If Canada could tune their situation to protect the small family farms, I'd view that as a good thing. Every country needs its own "strategic" backup of food and manufacturing production that only small and medium sized business can provide.

This ain't new. Husbands earn and the wives budget it for the family. Most housewives are good in handling money... Let's just pray guys that our wives will give us some cash for the Saturdays...

Ancient Japanese family traditions ... wife handles the budget and the assets, guy gets to strut around and go in front. Power sharing old style. Even my wife's "nisei" parents did it that way and they were pretty Americanized.

For those who need some sort of cite of the history: http://www.gojapango.com/culture/japanese_women.html

Yeah. It's normal in my country too. I think I might follow the same in the near future if I ever get a wife. But I might minus some as my pocket money(?!) like 10%?

Because it is very easy to just phone the workplace. Furthermore, I figure most of the time salaries are sent directly into a bank accounting, meaning it would be very suspicious of money was not sent by the workplace.....

Is Japan going to (revert to) a matriarchal society? [Himiko, your time has come again!]

I think US and Canada could have the fine annexation; the former has a bomber lobby and the latter has a milk lobby - even the Japanese portray their "Western world" as such.

Just look at those creamy warheads.......

That will lead to disagreement or worst....fights. Many housewives are smart. They can always tell when one is cheating on the wage her husband's receiving.

I would be more thant happy if it was for those goal, but it's mostly a relic of the mindset of the period were the province was mostly rural than went even after Duplessie. The current situation simply overcharge the consummers and fail to help the small productor.

Sounds like you have the equivalent of the US Chamber of Commerce ("screw the little business guys and the consumer needs, they just get in the way of the big boys profiteering")
