episode 1:

glad to see everyone again. It's nice to see Karin being so lively and smiling now, she used to so serious on things.

Nogi is so energetic. She really wants to do a lot of things after getting out of the bed. Had a good laugh when she brought that instant setup tent just to sleep in it.

but the one who made me laugh the most is Togo. Yuna get hit by sniper.. Togo reaction is "what is the color of your blood?!" haha.

starting off strong with a 9/10 for me.
looking forward to see more of them.

At least they're alive. It's a testament to Mebuki's determination to protect them all.

episode 3:

ah, the horrors again of human sacrifice in this show.

those Taisha are just as creepy as the monsters of this show. They're like fanatical cultists of some sort.

they make those girls risk their lives to plant a seedling outside, then now they want to have it back?!

they should ask the Hero Club for help.

Well I suppose just skipping over most of season 2 is a good way to handle trying to cover the same material . Guess we're all caught up now . All that being said, the little chat with Gin was pretty nice. Definitely a good character who went above and beyond.

Now to see where the season will go from here.

episode 4:

Mebu and her team have improved. In a previous episode, their barrier could be broken by stardusts, this time their barrier was able to hold off 3 vertex long enough for them to escape.

using young girls as child soldiers and using them as human sacrifice seems to be a recurring theme of this show, pure evil. Hopefully, the gods, Shinju, and the taisha all will all pay for their crimes by the end of the story.

It's not quite that black and white: the Taisha have been rocking their system for at least three centuries from the looks of things with the aim of sorting out the Gods that seek to destroy humanity. There are two factions: the Heavenly Gods are the malevolent ones hostile to humanity and created the Vertex. The Shinju/Earthly Gods strive for humanity's survival but are unable to take the fight to the Heavenly Gods, hence their creating Heroes and running of the Taisha, so on the long run, they'd need to destroy the Heavenly Gods, otherwise, the status quo of making human sacrifice will be kept.

Nah, we already know Taisha are a bunch of selfish bastards. Did you already forget season two? They tried to marry Yuuna to the God so that Taisha would be rewarded with becoming part of the God themselves. And what about the rest of the population? Taisha were gonna let them all die. They were only trying to save themselves.

No surprise that the first heroes had an utterly rough going. No way to truly know what they were getting into and of course taking all kinds of heat along the way. Not that I can't understand how things were. Everyone was living through an unbelievable horror and the heroes were pushed forward as this miraculous win that would wipe out the horrors that were plaguing them. Even though in reality there was only so much those girls could really do and no way they could take care of the whole overwhelming crisis.

Things undoubtedly smoothed out a bit once everyone (that was still alive) ended up pretty well indoctrinated by the Taisha. Not that it made the lives of the heroes any less horrible. But at least there was less outward pressure and criticism.

Honestly the whole situation is terribly tragic. But no question it was all the more horrible for these first heroes. Thrown into this chaos and left suffering such losses.

Sonoka is good at acting, now they can know more about the true story, using the old book.

truly a horrifying experience for the first generation of heroes.

those ungrateful people don't deserve to be protected.

What a mess. The Nogi Wakaba is a Hero light novel comprises two volumes. That's 12 chapters total, with each chapter having more than enough material for an anime episode. Meaning for a proper adaptation, they'd need at least 12 episodes. Yet here they are, trying to fit the thing into 3-4 episodes. As you can expect, the result is a total mess. They're already cutting out more than half the content.

It's a shame they couldn't be arsed to properly adapt this story since it's hailed by all the fans as the franchise's best story. Needless to say, anyone interested in the story of the first heroes should read the novel. Nogi Wakaba is a Hero is fully translated. Believe me, it's worth it, and the anime is not making it justice. It's just not possible to do so in 3-4 episodes.

Man the Taisha are so lazy; they basically just use the equivalent of whiteout for censorship. They pretty much only lasted these centuries because there was no other choice.

Also Sonoko's game was messed up but I suppose that's funny too.

I have the feeling that Sonoko intentionally made the game that way, to give the impression that they were just fooling around. She wants the maid to leave.

There are a lot of layers to the situation of course. And in terms of handling the situation with the public, Sonoka did about as well as she could. But the situation with Chikage was delicate and honestly no one really handled that well including Sonoka.

So no wonder the episode ended where it did. Honestly I'm still amazed that world hasn't already ended. You give these girls power and then drive them into a psychological abyss. Someone is going to snap and clearly it has happened more than once. Unless Yuna is perpetually reincarnated to stop whoever goes crazy from destroying the world...I'm not sure how things have worked out this well.

No question that Chikage crossed so many lines. But it is no wonder she snapped. From that frustrated, angry, and crazed point of view...going after Sonoka only made sense. She didn't even have a steady emotional state before all this started. And not even like she was hit by a few small things that pushed her over the edge. Yuna's state, the public reaction, Sonoka's handling of things, and her isolation (both in general and in regards to Yuna) was a lot.

Obviously things will work out somehow. But how well...remains to be seen.
