I'd almost guess that Stocking's rection towards the 9b Ghost was not a coincidence; or rather, that it was the result of some sort of sub-conscious switch being flicked in her mind.

She might not have realised it, but she was helping that Ghost shape up (at least a little, in terms of its obnoxious behaviour) and move on peacefully, without having to get blasted in the process.

Although, I would hope there might be some more promising prospects for her somewhere down the line.
