Nah actually how it happened was this, I found out he watched Nanoha too so we were talking about it and I mentioned I frequent this thread (that was back around late August I think). So he just up and decided he was interested and would want to write again, we don't really get a lot of chances to showcase English writing skills here in Malaysia, what with the lack of people who can appreciate it.

Scarily similar over here.

I suppose, but its like the Nile river suddenly appeared, and suddenly none of them even want to come in here, and none of us there. To be honest, the amount of NxF fanfics lately were beginning to drive me up the wall, especially those that depicted them as rabbits.

The river has always been there but the other side suddenly shifted to the FF thread after the show ended and the image thread is giving all it has to stay alive. As for the bunyy NF fics, you know who to look for.

I was thinking hard on that when Keroko mentioned that it felt haxx that Leona could handle close to long range with equal skill. I personally felt that during the mock battle it wasn't so much the skill, but also the power displayed to handle all ranges of combat. I concluded that for some reason Leona didn't hold back, and PF confirmed it when we had a chat on msn earlier. Anything else would be spoilers.

Indeed, why do people lie? For many reasons, but the main thing is because they want to cover the truth. From that single point, one can draw many different conclusions on why someone lies and what it does. Well not going to start going philosophical now.

For themselves or for others, because the truth will do more than hurt sometimes. Running away and denial does seem the easier way out most of the times.

That's true, NxF attracts Legionnaires faster than excrement attracting flies.

According to some it was a mistranslation by the fansubs. Still it doesn't change my point that Mid style is as old if not older than the Belka style.

If memory serves me right, both styles were equally used until the Belka users declined. Further up there's no more indication which came first.

Well even I get scared sometimes. Something come up that takes you away for a few days and you get swamped when you get back. Almost makes me afraid to go on a holiday trip, though I really feel like having one after all the stress and crap I had to endure for the past few months.

On another note, I kinda fear that place because of the what the Legionnaires could do. I'll probably keel over and die someday if someone comes up to me and vehemently insist that NxF is canon.

As for Legionnaires, you're safe as long as you stay here. Right now only Haru is around to exclaim that, among other nonsense like StrikerS is made of the fan works and the TV show doesn't exist.

Phanan noted to Shamal that she had gotten of lucky. This time.

Keroko didn't get away with it easilly, as everyone she knew scolded her to the extreme, especially Nanoha, who was shocked that Keroko had made the same mistake as her, and tried to forbid her from using Ethereal Mode ever again. It was a partial succes, as Keroko was not the type to hold back if friends were in danger, a new mode for her Barrier Jacket was designed which had almost every advantage of Ethereal Mode with only minor downsides. When she recieved the Interceptor Mode, she had to promise to Nanoha never to use Ethereal Mode again.

It should be noted that Keroko only smiled, and never really answered the question.

I have the feeling I missed out on a lot of Keroko's history back when I wrote that piece. Still this is very useful.

They did find a way to counter them later though in the form of a disruptor that targets the “technobabble pathways linking individual replicator cells” effectively causing the things to fall apart when hit, but of course the damn bugger being adaptable little shits started figuring out how to resist it after awhile so they had to start changing it’s operating parameters and such. Eventually they lured all the buggers into the Milky Way, turned on ever Stargate in the galaxy and fired an ancient super weapon through them that mimicked the disruption effect on a galactic scale and wiped the little shits out for good, well sorta; they came back in the spin-off kinda.

And this has been a pointless Stargate History Lesson brought to you by TKs rabid love of the series.

Leaning out and sneaking another look at the Gadget Drone, Franz wondered whether it would have been better to have had his head shot off instead.

Talk about love that transcends hellfire...

It's part of her "Friendship through Force" philosophy: she kicked the shit outta him, which brought down his relationship barriers, and caused him to humble himself to accept her friendship. Once that was done, she basically moved all the way into Close Friend in one fell swoop.

Though Franz doesn't dare put the moves on her because Naomi threatened to castrate him if he ever attempted to "defile Nanoha-oneechan". Though that might have been jealousy speaking... as for Glen's POV...

Glen: "Franz, if you dare try and go on a date with any of those Aces, I will personally confine you to a fate worse than death."
Franz: "You mean castrate me?"
Glen: "Thank you for reminding me about that option, I will keep it in mind. No, what I had in mind was..."

"Franz-kun and Colonel von Long were the first people to copy Divine Buster... although they DID ask permission first," she continued, smiling reasurringly at an embarrassed Subaru, who looked as if she wanted to sink into the floor and die. "Well, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. It wasn't as powerful though..."

"I don't call you 'Beamspam-chan' for nothin'," shrugged Franz. "Now, that was the first time I'd used Divine Buster outside of the firing range, and lemme tell you, the feeling of firing it for real as compared to a range... totally different experience.

"Now, I could finally see the true difference in our power: this was just a few months after the airport fire, so Beamspam-chan was already S+, while I'd just made A+ around six months prior, so the result was obvious. There was no way in hell I could touch her; all my Divine Buster did was absorb and retard some of Nanoha-chan's fire, but not much, so I whipped out Round Shield and called upon my hot blood..."

Vita spoke with such assurance and confidence, she could have swayed anyone to her thinking, even with such a simple statement. As it stood though, about the only person who thought Franz had a snowball's chance in hell of beating Nanoha was, well, Franz. The only real question was how long he'd last.

"I still say he'll lose in 3 minutes. That's my wager."

"4 minutes and 30 seconds, liebchen," retorted Glen. "One must be precise in one's target selection. He'll last no longer than that. Speaking of which, what does the loser owe the winner?" His eyebrows raised fractionally as Emili whispered in his ear, and the look he turned on her spoke volumes; Emili matched his gaze and smiled coyly, and Glen smiled internally as well. Regardless of who wins, it's a win-win situation.

11-year-old Naomi was upset that nobody was supporting her brother...but...well... it was true that Nanoha-oneechan was so much cooler than Franz.

"He never learns," sighed Signum, shaking her head. "Though I knew that already..."

Franz had fared no better against Signum, either.

"It's the biggest joke in the Order," mutter Glen sourly. "Seven years ago, Erick tells me to "finish his training." Seven years later, and he still isn't done. My life is a cartoon."

"Oh, shut up, baka," laughed Emili, and she kissed him.

"...guess it's not all bad, though," mused Glen, when he finally came up for air.

As he fell to the ground, Franz's mind raced through his options, the hot blood in his veins giving priority to the most destructive plans, until it found one that might work...

"Cortana, Sonic Move."

[Da, Comrade.]

Jack flickered away from Nanoha's Divine Buster, barely missing the giant pink beam; throwing himself against another ruined building, skidding down along the outer wall...

[Burst Jump.]

Powered by magic, he jumped up and away, heading right towards Nanoha, Cortana shifting into katana form; he chambered another two cartridges and yelled his incantation: "PLASMA LANCER!" Eight glowing arrows shot forward towards Nanoha; Franz began praying to Guiness that they'd hit...

And snarled as Nanoha calmly evaded all eight arrows with the briefests of movements and a smile on her face. The arrows retargeted and charged Nanoha, as he ordered "Blitz Rush,"... and cursed as Nanoha's Accel Shooter shot down all his arrows.

Franz had forgotten that Nanoha was Fate's best friend... and thus knew the counters to all her friend's attacks. Attacks which he had copied.

"Don't underestimate me!" he roared. "I didn't get where I am by sitting on my ass! I'll show you the golden path of battle that all great men travel! Heaven or Earth, it makes no difference! The purity of my heart gives me the strength of ten men!"

"Not your Device?" called Nanoha teasingly.

"...uh, well, that too," admitted Franz,bringing up his sword to guard against Nanoha's Accel Shooter, deflecting magenta energy orbs, as his left hand snaked towards the black pistol in the holster on his belt. He flew through the air, coming closer and closer...

"Barrett Shot!"

His hand lifted the Pistol Device and it automatically chambered a cartridge; focusing magic at the barrel exit, Franz focused and squeezed the trigger. The hammer came down and fired the cartridge; the slide rocked back, ejecting the empty shell casing, as the compressed magical energy flowed through the barrel into the ball of magic at the exit, giving the spell the energy it needed; like a shot of NOS to an engine. 4 magical shots rang out, as Jack past Nanoha and squeezed the trigger again, firing another four-shot spell at her; as he reached the apex of his jump and began falling, he looked down...

To see Nanoha deflecting all 8 shots off Round Shield, and point Raging Heart at him.

"Magnum Shot!" he called, squeezing his trigger, firing single shots at Nanoha, who paused her attack to form a smaller shield, catching and deflecting his shots. Magnum Shot was similar to Barrett Shot, but instead of firing a 4-round burst, poured all its power into a single shot, which gave it AA-rank power, but also gave strong recoil, which was strong enough to push Franz back and slow his fall; he stowed his pistol and frantically loaded a pair of cartridges into Cortana, chambering cartridges as he came closer and closer, as Nanoha casted Active Guard, slowing him down further as she prepared her attack.

Which was when Franz finished loading cartridges and began his speech.

"Don't underestimate me! This is the golden path of battle that all great men travel! The Magma of my heart! My Young Blood on FIRE! Who do you think I am?! GIGA! DRILL! BREAKEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!

Glen facepalmed, his free hand twitching, as Emili sighed and patted his shoulder, and Naomi hid behind Emili, her face beet red. Fate and the Volkenritter looked at themselves, Franz, and then at Glen, who raised a hand.

"Don't. Ask."

Nanoha blinked and dropped her attack, as Raging Heart chanted Protection Powered, catching the giant energy drill that glowed and pulsed madly; sparks flew as the giant drill tried to drill into her barrier, and Franz had a wildly triumphant look on his face, a look of 'I have you now"...

Before Nanoha smiled sweetly at him.

[Barrier Burst.]

"Fu-"

Barrier Burst operated on similar principles to the reactive armor used on Earth and Erusia: a controlled detonation that threw the explosive force outwards, flinging the attacker away. The results were even more spectacular becase Franz's Giga Drill Breaker was an energy drill, and had partially "drilled" through the explosion of magic before being flung away... which meant that he had caught parts of the blast right in his face. The force was enough to stun him, and he fell from the sky; fortunately, it was only a hundred feet or so, and Nanoha was kind enough to break his fall...

By using a dozen Accel Shooter projectiles to hit him as he fell, coming up and slowing his fall.

The Erusian mage landed in a crumpled heap on the rubble, and for a moment, appeared still.

"Three minutes and 55 seconds," said Emili. "I guess neither of us win..."

"WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK I AM?!" roared Franz, dragging himself upwards, fumbling painfully for Cortana, which lay a few feet away. His left eye was swollen shut, and blood caked his forehead and fingers, and he had to squint his right eye painfully to see through the blood. "Cortana may be gone from my hands, but I am undefeated! My back is bowed, but my head is held high! So long as this heart beats, I shall never surrender!" He raised his pistol, chambering a cartridge. "Plasma La-"

[Divine Buster, Extension.]

That was when Nanoha's final Divine Buster slammed into him, before he could even raise a shield. When the beam faded, Franz took a step, and fell face-forward.

"Winner, Nanoha!" announced Fate, and Emili checked her watch, smiling at Glen. "Four minutes and thirty seconds. You were right. Well, I guess I'd better take Naomi and go check on him."

"Ja," agreed Glen, as she picked up Franz's sister and flew off to the unmoving mage, as the others slowly made their way to him. Emili landed in a crouch in front of Franz, depositing Naomi and leaning over him.

There was one quirk that Emili had; her blue Navy uniform sported a skirt that was shorter than regulation (almost a miniskirt, in fact), with a slit that ran higher than usual. Why was this important?

Franz was rolled onto his back, and his eye blearily tracked up, moving past her boots to her white thigh socks, further up...

"A flash of blue," he murmured. "An azure cloud set against the milky sky..."

Emili gasped, her face flushing, and immediately reacted, kicking Franz into the air with a spin kick, shouting "ERASE IT FROM YOUR MIND!" and landing a 12-hit combo as he fell down and tumbled to slam into yet another piece of rubble.

"Bruder!" exclaimed Naomi excitedly. "Compared to Nanoha-neechan's Divine Buster, which hurts more?"

"Can't you ask me about something else?" groaned Franz miserably. "Goddamn mages have antisniper hax. God damn you, Beamspam."

"My apologies, Ladies and gent, but I gotta run," said Franz. "Good luck to all of you. See ya, Beamspam-chan. Sir, about this, I can-"

"Now, Lieutenant."

"Yessir," replied Franz, who fled; none of the Forwards could find it in their hearts to blame him. Glen stared after him, before turning to the table and inclining his head. "Pardon me," he murmured, and swept away.

Nanoha shook her head and chuckled fondly. "Some things will never change..."

It's finished. My fingers. They hurt.

"Well, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. It wasn't as powerful though..."

"I don't call you 'Beamspam-chan' for nothin'," shrugged Franz. "Now, that was the first time I'd used Divine Buster outside of the firing range, and lemme tell you, the feeling of firing it for real as compared to a range... totally different experience.

"Now, I could finally see the true difference in our power: this was just a few months after the airport fire, so Beamspam-chan was already S+, while I'd just made A+ around six months prior, so the result was obvious. There was no way in hell I could touch her; all my Divine Buster did was absorb and retard some of Nanoha-chan's fire, but not much, so I whipped out Round Shield and called upon my hot blood..."

Vita spoke with such assurance and confidence, she could have swayed anyone to her thinking, even with such a simple statement. As it stood though, about the only person who thought Franz had a snowball's chance in hell of beating Nanoha was, well, Franz. The only real question was how long he'd last.

"I still say he'll lose in 3 minutes. That's my wager."

"4 minutes and 30 seconds, liebchen," retorted Glen. "One must be precise in one's target selection. He'll last no longer than that. Speaking of which, what does the loser owe the winner?" His eyebrows raised fractionally as Emili whispered in his ear, and the look he turned on her spoke volumes; Emili matched his gaze and smiled coyly, and Glen smiled internally as well. Regardless of who wins, it's a win-win situation.

11-year-old Naomi was upset that nobody was supporting her brother...but...well... it was true that Nanoha-oneechan was so much cooler than Franz.

"He never learns," sighed Signum, shaking her head. "Though I knew that already..."

Franz had fared no better against Signum, either.

"It's the biggest joke in the Order," mutter Glen sourly. "Seven years ago, Erick tells me to "finish his training." Seven years later, and he still isn't done. My life is a cartoon."

"Oh, shut up, baka," laughed Emili, and she kissed him.

"...guess it's not all bad, though," mused Glen, when he finally came up for air.

As he fell to the ground, Franz's mind raced through his options, the hot blood in his veins giving priority to the most destructive plans, until it found one that might work...

"Cortana, Sonic Move."

[Da, Comrade.]

Jack flickered away from Nanoha's Divine Buster, barely missing the giant pink beam; throwing himself against another ruined building, skidding down along the outer wall...

[Burst Jump.]

Powered by magic, he jumped up and away, heading right towards Nanoha, Cortana shifting into katana form; he chambered another two cartridges and yelled his incantation: "PLASMA LANCER!" Eight glowing arrows shot forward towards Nanoha; Franz began praying to Guiness that they'd hit...

And snarled as Nanoha calmly evaded all eight arrows with the briefests of movements and a smile on her face. The arrows retargeted and charged Nanoha, as he ordered "Blitz Rush,"... and cursed as Nanoha's Accel Shooter shot down all his arrows.

Franz had forgotten that Nanoha was Fate's best friend... and thus knew the counters to all her friend's attacks. Attacks which he had copied.

"Don't underestimate me!" he roared. "I didn't get where I am by sitting on my ass! I'll show you the golden path of battle that all great men travel! Heaven or Earth, it makes no difference! The purity of my heart gives me the strength of ten men!"

"Not your Device?" called Nanoha teasingly.

"...uh, well, that too," admitted Franz,bringing up his sword to guard against Nanoha's Accel Shooter, deflecting magenta energy orbs, as his left hand snaked towards the black pistol in the holster on his belt. He flew through the air, coming closer and closer...

"Barrett Shot!"

His hand lifted the Pistol Device and it automatically chambered a cartridge; focusing magic at the barrel exit, Franz focused and squeezed the trigger. The hammer came down and fired the cartridge; the slide rocked back, ejecting the empty shell casing, as the compressed magical energy flowed through the barrel into the ball of magic at the exit, giving the spell the energy it needed; like a shot of NOS to an engine. 4 magical shots rang out, as Jack past Nanoha and squeezed the trigger again, firing another four-shot spell at her; as he reached the apex of his jump and began falling, he looked down...

To see Nanoha deflecting all 8 shots off Round Shield, and point Raging Heart at him.

"Magnum Shot!" he called, squeezing his trigger, firing single shots at Nanoha, who paused her attack to form a smaller shield, catching and deflecting his shots. Magnum Shot was similar to Barrett Shot, but instead of firing a 4-round burst, poured all its power into a single shot, which gave it AA-rank power, but also gave strong recoil, which was strong enough to push Franz back and slow his fall; he stowed his pistol and frantically loaded a pair of cartridges into Cortana, chambering cartridges as he came closer and closer, as Nanoha casted Active Guard, slowing him down further as she prepared her attack.

Which was when Franz finished loading cartridges and began his speech.

"Don't underestimate me! This is the golden path of battle that all great men travel! The Magma of my heart! My Young Blood on FIRE! Who do you think I am?! GIGA! DRILL! BREAKEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!

Glen facepalmed, his free hand twitching, as Emili sighed and patted his shoulder, and Naomi hid behind Emili, her face beet red. Fate and the Volkenritter looked at themselves, Franz, and then at Glen, who raised a hand.

"Don't. Ask."

Nanoha blinked and dropped her attack, as Raging Heart chanted Protection Powered, catching the giant energy drill that glowed and pulsed madly; sparks flew as the giant drill tried to drill into her barrier, and Franz had a wildly triumphant look on his face, a look of 'I have you now"...

Before Nanoha smiled sweetly at him.

[Barrier Burst.]

"Fu-"

Barrier Burst operated on similar principles to the reactive armor used on Earth and Erusia: a controlled detonation that threw the explosive force outwards, flinging the attacker away. The results were even more spectacular becase Franz's Giga Drill Breaker was an energy drill, and had partially "drilled" through the explosion of magic before being flung away... which meant that he had caught parts of the blast right in his face. The force was enough to stun him, and he fell from the sky; fortunately, it was only a hundred feet or so, and Nanoha was kind enough to break his fall...

By using a dozen Accel Shooter projectiles to hit him as he fell, coming up and slowing his fall.

The Erusian mage landed in a crumpled heap on the rubble, and for a moment, appeared still.

"Three minutes and 55 seconds," said Emili. "I guess neither of us win..."

"WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK I AM?!" roared Franz, dragging himself upwards, fumbling painfully for Cortana, which lay a few feet away. His left eye was swollen shut, and blood caked his forehead and fingers, and he had to squint his right eye painfully to see through the blood. "Cortana may be gone from my hands, but I am undefeated! My back is bowed, but my head is held high! So long as this heart beats, I shall never surrender!" He raised his pistol, chambering a cartridge. "Plasma La-"

[Divine Buster, Extension.]

That was when Nanoha's final Divine Buster slammed into him, before he could even raise a shield. When the beam faded, Franz took a step, and fell face-forward.

"Winner, Nanoha!" announced Fate, and Emili checked her watch, smiling at Glen. "Four minutes and thirty seconds. You were right. Well, I guess I'd better take Naomi and go check on him."

"Ja," agreed Glen, as she picked up Franz's sister and flew off to the unmoving mage, as the others slowly made their way to him. Emili landed in a crouch in front of Franz, depositing Naomi and leaning over him.

There was one quirk that Emili had; her blue Navy uniform sported a skirt that was shorter than regulation (almost a miniskirt, in fact), with a slit that ran higher than usual. Why was this important?

Franz was rolled onto his back, and his eye blearily tracked up, moving past her boots to her white thigh socks, further up...

"A flash of blue," he murmured. "An azure cloud set against the milky sky..."

Emili gasped, her face flushing, and immediately reacted, kicking Franz into the air with a spin kick, shouting "ERASE IT FROM YOUR MIND!" and landing a 12-hit combo as he fell down and tumbled to slam into yet another piece of rubble.

"Bruder!" exclaimed Naomi excitedly. "Compared to Nanoha-neechan's Divine Buster, which hurts more?"

"Can't you ask me about something else?" groaned Franz miserably. "Goddamn mages have antisniper hax. God damn you, Beamspam."

It was a partial succes, as Keroko was not the type to hold back if friends were in danger, a new mode for her Barrier Jacket was designed which had almost every advantage of Ethereal Mode with only minor downsides. When she recieved the Interceptor Mode, she had to promise to Nanoha never to use Ethereal Mode again.

It should be noted that Keroko only smiled, and never really answered the question.

Lol yeah. Right now, it's a few months after the fire and Hayate's big idea of Riot Force 6, so Nanoha is S+ vs Franz A+. The only area he outguns her is in HOT BLOOD. Hell, he outguns almost everyone in Riot 6 in terms of Hot Blood, but since almost everyone around can pwn him, I guess it balances. Hot Blood for Franz doesn't give him any attack bonuses... (in fact, it lowers his defence and adds "Priority Target +200" on him, which is why nobody wants to stand next to him. )

TSAB Profile: Second-in-Command of the Order of Freelance Mages, Glen is one of the youngest unit's commanders; at 25, he's second only to Emili Naïlo in being the youngest. In his eleven years of service to the OFM, he has experienced the full gamut of battles that they go through, and typically operates as the commander of the OFM's Air Wing (whilst Erick leads the Ground Force). A capable Magic Knight, there is one tick about him that sets him apart from his contemporaries: His fire magic, and an odd distortion in his Linker Core that manifests the "Berserk State".

- Alignment: Chaotic Good

Of the four leading OFM mages, Glen is considered the "terse, unfriendly, taciturn, straight man." He's the one who has to talk the other three "less thinking" leaders from doing something insane. He's the one who gives Franz most of his Paperwork (like Ivanovich, he believes in full use of Unlimited Paper Works), helps Erick come up with plans that follow the KISS principle (aka Keep It Simple, Stupid) without being too simple (Erick prefers the "run in and gun 'em all down" strategy; Franz prefers victory through, quote: "Determination, Hotblood, Courage, and the power of the True Spirit of Men!"). He trains Franz on a semi-regular basis. Oh, and he also has a girlfriend: Emili Naïlo.

In essence, he's the Fuyutsuki to the Gendo (if Gendo were hotblooded), the Rossiu to the Simon, the Kyon to the Haruhi, the master to the apprentice. In his own mind, he's also the most normal one (though insanity is probably a requirement to get into the OFM).

Contrary to popular belief though, Glen is not really an unfriendly guy; rather, he's simply withdrawn. Yes, he's blunt, but he prefers the straight and narrow approach when it comes to dealing with people (including Franz... especially Franz). Once you get to know him, he's actually not a real bad guy. Past the intimidation is just your average Magic Knight.

Of course, getting that close to him is a problem. Glen has an introverted attitude in part from how he grew up and in part from his... Berserk State (more on that later). It takes some time and effort, and only a few people have managed to get close to him. Emili obviously is close to him, and Erick has been close to him ever since he was 14, having almost raised Glen from then on. As for the established OCs and Aces, the only ones really close to him are Kha and Fate. The former is because he and Fate are an "item". The latter is because at some point during MC073 Glen found himself torn between Fate and Emili. "Damn emotions..."

History:
Glen was born on Soto eight years before the Subjugation War. As a child, he possessed no special or exemplary skills in anything, and his parents were consigned to letting him grow up into another normal kid.

During the war, however, that was shot out the window. His father was called back into active duty and subsequently killed, and Erusian soldiers kidnapped his mother, ultimately using her as bait in a failed "Hostage Negotiation". Orphaned, the TSAB rescued him (and countless other orphans) and placed them in a shelter until they began to pull out. Less than six hours after leaving his homeworld, 8-year old Glen saw as Sotoa was nuked 3 thousand times over. His homeworld, destroyed by his own race's hands, was a scar that to this day has never left him.

The TSAB conducted some tests on the orphans that made it offworld, including Glen. They found that 1% of them had stable-enough Linker Cores to utilize magic, and took this 1% to another world (codenamed "Outer Heaven"), and began to raise them while training them in Project ATX - Alternative Type X Magic. This magic style was supposed to utilize Ancient Belkan Magic and Devices with Midchildan Magic mixed in. This project would eventually die out in favor of the Neo-Belkan project, but for six years Glen and 39 other orphans would learn this type of magic.

Shortly before his 14th birthday, during a training session, a 35 year old Erick von Long visited the ATX facilities on Outer Heaven (the project wasn't exactly secret; this project and the forerunner of Neo-Belkan magic were at odds). He was impressed by Glen's skill at such a young age at had him taken out of the project (by this point, Erick had some influence) and put into the Order of Freelance Mages. When he joined, Erick took a necklace and put it around Glen's neck in a flash (similar to how Kamina put the Core Drill on Simon's).

"Well, kid," he said. "This'n here is called Phoenix. Treat 'er well, and she'll do ya right."

Erick received Phoenix from a retired TSAB mage. He had been holding on to it, and since he couldn't use it, decided to give it to Glen, who at the time of their meeting was practicing the Belkan-style of Magic. Phoenix and Glen's magic mingled well together, and soon after Glen started to develop his affinity for Fire-based magic.

This is when the problems started.

The problem was the Berserk State; a mental imbalance in Glen's mind that also affected his Linker Core. Triggered by a swell of negative emotion from him (such as sadness or anger), the Berserk State pushed Glen's conscious mind down and brought out a second personality known as "Id". This ruthless, vengeful personality would stop at nothing to destroy whatever had caused this emotion, ignoring the pain of his body. The initial trigger of the Berserk State happened on the same planet that would eventually be the death of the former OFM XO. A firefight that killed another young boy Glen had become friends with unleashed the Berserk State, and in the ensuing chaos Glen cut a swath through their opponents with nothing short of a blazing fire.

Glen was hospitalized for two weeks after this, having burn marks and mana depletion. In order to prevent something like this from happening again, Erick had Glen placed under hypnosis therapy to rid himself of "Id" and keep him stable until a more permanent solution could be found. This took time and effort: Erick went to non-TSAB sources - sources that could get him court-martialed - if his superiors found that he was keeping a mentally unstable person in the OFM.

At any rate, Glen calmed down for many years, eventually becoming XO of the OFM and taking on Franz as an apprentice. Around MC069, his mental instability began to return, and Erick needed to find a more permanent solution. He went to longtime friend/rival Aurion, and together the two worked on installing a special limiter in Phoenix that would not stop, but limit, the outbursts of "Id". Only strong emotional trauma could bring Id out, so long as Glen had Phoenix with him. As such, after the Limiter was placed, Glen was ordered never to take it off.

Shortly after meeting the Aces and the Wolkenritter, Glen and a new recruit named Emili Naïlo began to see each other. Though his personality was mostly the same, there were subtle changes in his attitude, especially around her. She helped stabilize him further, and over the course of 4 years the two have formed a very close relationship. It's not exactly love - both have a very difficult time with the concept - but it's more than friends, not quite lovers.

As for the other Aces, Glen has slowly developed a small friendship with them, though "polite acquaintance" may be more correct. Except when it comes to Fate T. Harlown and Kha der Kleriker. Peculiarly, Glen holds Fate in especially high regard, insofar as to start falling for her, and thus by proxy he and Kha have a small rivalry.

Over the course of his interactions with the Aces and Wolkenritter, he and Signum have reached a mutual respect and comraderie with each other. Both spar when they can, sharpening their skills for when it's needed. Signum is happy to teach someone her old Belkan style, which the ATX project used.

The last few years have been interesting for him. For some reason or another, Glen can do "Combination Magic"; a term he came up with simply because he can't come up with anything else. Perhaps due to the odd nature of his fire affinity (Erick thinks that, deep down, Glen has a fire affinity because of watching the nukes go off on Sotoa), he can mix his and someone else's magic spells together, and together the two can use a more powerful attack. To date, there's only three people he's been able to do this with: Emili is one and the most powerful Combination Spell (and maybe the most powerful spell in the OFM), called Rampage Ghost: Spiral Shift. Next would be Franz, his apprentice; Franz's lightning is necessary, oddly, to hold the fire together for their Akashic Buster spell. Finally, during a deployment, Glen and Fate did an impromptu combination spell, Plasma Firebolt.

The Id State still exists within him as well. Anytime Emili is heavily injured, Id manifests and takes him over, and the Berserk State is reached. In one case, Glen entered the state when Fate was heavily injured, suggesting perhaps she's closer to him then he really wants to admit.

Now, as Erick looks at the future of the OFM, Glen... can only sigh and plant a palm to his face. "Yare, yare..."

Device:
Glen's Device is a cartridge-loader equipped longsword named Phoenix. It looks like an average longsword, with a silver hilt and the engraving on a phoenix going down both sides. Cartridges are loaded into the pommel of the sword - up to 3 at a time. The Phoenix, as noted earlier, was given to him by Erick when he joined the OFM, as Glen at the time had used no other device than the practice Devices used in Project ATX.

Phoenix may have a connection to Laevantein. Signum seems familiar with the Phoenix yet has said nothing, and their cartridges look similar as well.

Phoenix speaks with a light female's voice, and refers to Glen as "Komponist" (Composer). Phoenix's spell trigger is "Ignite!"

Knight Armor: Instead of a Barrier Jacket, Glen wears a set of Knight Armor that resembles a star's flames. (See above image)
