The novel takes place in the summer of 1907, the 40th year of the Meiji era. 15-year-old Inako Momokawa lives in the Fushimi area of Kyoto, and is the second daughter of a sake brewer. Nothing she does ever comes out right, and she receives a scolding from her father every day. Her only relief is the trust she places in her prayers to the gods. One day while at Fushimi Inari shrine, she meets a freewheeling young man named Kihachi Sakamoto. He rejects the gods, and boasts of the incoming age of electricity.

I tell myself time and time again that it's perfectly fine for KA to produce typical pandering money making content if it helps fund shows like Hyouka, Nichijou, and presumably this.

Given that this is another in-house adaptation of their self-awarded LN properties, seems premature to assume it's the latter and not the former.

KyoAni's second eloping story after Take On Me!

I am so damn in! Let's hope it will be directed by either Ishihara or Takemoto!

I'll give them the benefit of the doubt, but I'm inclined to believe it will turn out to be the former as well.
