So I guess it's probably an updated remake of sorts. I'm not against that, but I do hope it has higher production values than the last one. It wasn't terrible, but not great either.

Boom, can't say I saw this coming. Though honestly when this series originally came out with Golden on the horizon I thought they could have just waited and done this originally.

Curious about the approach they will take. They really had to push the pace with the original series just to cover the material they did. Now have all the new stuff in Golden to take into consideration. Could we actually push for more than the 26 episodes we got last time? Cutting of the stuff they covered and focusing more on the new content?

The approach will be the big thing here.

Would be nice if the production values were a step up in this one. Would also appreciate if they don't continually do the "spend half an episode with Narukami in a dream-like state" thing they did a couple times in the first anime.

Personally my top priority would be a higher episode count. There's a lot of stuff in this game and they had to push it just to fit the original P4 into the amount of episodes they did.

Well I think the obvious answer would be...money . P4 is still turning out various games and with the new material that Golden has probably thought "why not."

Really this whole "canonizing" thing. It's like they're giving the big middle finger to people who bought and played the PS2 version by saying "lol that one doesn't count anymore".

If it's an OVA instead I could see them just setting aside 4 episodes to cover all of the Golden material with Marie... Unless they also want to include [spoiler]

Doesn't really matter for me since me and most of the people in my country pirated PS2 version anyway so it doesn't count! j/k

Anyway, what's the source that this will be basically a remake? I knew ANN cited it but I honestly didn't hear it during the stream (since I was busy twittering my friends ) and the website doesn't seem to have the information (if i'm not wrong w)? Did I just miss the staffs explaining it?

They already said it's a TV anime, not an OVA. Unless you're speaking purely hypotheticals like "what if it were an OVA"...

Normally I wouldn't expect they'd do it all over again. But the Golden material is so tied into things it'd be rather weird to just focus solely on it.

Honestly I'm not sure what to think since before this morning I never considered this as a possibility . Bit of an unusual situation. Not exactly the Brotherhood treatment since Golden is more new material mixed into the existing story. Not that I don't think they couldn't do this material better than the first time around .

I knew the announcement was going to be Persona 4 related. Atlus just can't stop milking it. Remaking an anime that's not even three years old is extremely dumb. They should make this a pseudo sequel instead, covering the events between Adachi's arrest and the final fight.
