I don't know what to think of it all.
Papillon vs Ikusabe is basically the same as in the manga, same for Gouta vs Negoro. But now since there has never been a battle between the trio and Inukai, the little scenes that illustrate Gouta's development are missing: How he was ready to leave Inukai to die, but Kazuki made him change his mind and wonder "who is the real monster", and later he left defeated Negoro and Maruyama alive.
It's just a detail, but I'd have liked it to be there.

The new battle against Victor was a bit short. Everyone did their tricks and lost, in the end they escaped. Well, they did send all their youngest and possibly most inexperienced fighters against Victor, which is a little odd. Besides, seeing Busujima on the battlefield is unusual.
But I do appreciate the additional screentime for Shusui.

I don't really mind mini!Tokiko being missing, but with Maruyama off to fight Victor, and only Negoro, Hiwatari and Bravo available, Tokiko now has to stand around and do nothing, which I don't really like. But I suppose things will meet up with the manga again soon.

I was disappointed that there were almost no comedic moments in this episode. Those are what I enjoy about BR the best.

I also found it strange that Tokiko was just sitting around being helpless. That's absolutely not like her. I wish she would kick someone's ass, I felt like we haven't seen her in action in a really long time.

well things start off with a quick recap of the situation ~

kazuki tells hiwatari to stop getting in the way but he refuses...launching the first attack he surrounds the gang with fire ~

and on papilon's end we see Ikusabe regenerating again after blowing him up ~ he tells papilon that there is no more use in resisting and attacks but with his last strength papilon blows him up ~ however this time while he tries to regenerate papilon targets his weakness and comes in between his regeneration ~ this time he blows Ikusabe's right arm off while he was somewat merged with him ~ taking his staff in the process...

gozen asks if papi is okey and he seems fine enough tho still a bit shakey ~ but he knows that now that he has taken Ikusabe's weapon he cannor regenerate back ~ he admits defeat but refuses to spill the beans still ~ instead he faints from exhaustion ~

back to hiwatari we see the ground blazed wuth kazuki and the others no where in sight...thinking that they have dies hiwatari leaves his lanky to search for the kakugane ~

on the plane the "hunt for victor" group moves out ~ Chitose flashes back to when she recruited Shusui ~ he hears about kazuki being victor 3 i presume and we see a sad look on his face ~ the group finds victor...and he is well aware ~

gota wakes up tokiko who fainted ~ she pushes him away screaming kazuki causing great depression
well kazuki is no where to be seen so tokiko wants to start serching asap ~ however this is where Shinobu turns up to cause trouble ~

meanwhile kazuki is running around searching ~

Shinobu injures tokiko's leg and disappears when gota attacks ~ his hidden hit and run tactics are hard to handle ~ creating his own dimensional space he is able to escape attacks ~ gota tells tokiko to leave and let him handle things ~
Shinobu disappears again and gota is lost in thought ~ he misses a dummy and tokiko was attacked ~ gota manages to save her and tries to grab onto Shinobu before he leaves ~ this fails but he is able to figure out something ~

onto the "hunt victor" team we see the warriors make their attack ~ they all use their special attacks but it seems that victor is way out of their league ~ he gets serious and brings out his axe ~ but before the final blow chitose is able to use her releport skill to bring everyone to safety ~ even shusui was nearly killed ~
back on the plain chitose is able to track victor

~ papilon faints in the middle of a road and falls asleep well he was pretty battered up ~

gota still has his hands full while fighting ~ shinobu is able to throw his sword through his dimension hole and manages to injure gota ~
making a dash for it gota tries to lure him away far from tokiko ~ he remembers what kazuki told him before and taunts shinobu to come out ~ gota manages to injure shinobu but at the same time is injured on the shoulders ~ well gota seems to have managed to figure out his weakness ~ he obtained his DNA which allowed his busou renkin to enter the dimension and rip the guy appart ~

kazuki then bumps into bravo...

im loving this! now its round 2 of kazuki vs bravo!

I think in this episode they were measuring how outstretched and out of this world is the gap in power levels among the Alchemic Warriors in comparison to Victor, and it is also clear that for the Kazuki-Gota-Tokiko + Pappi trio progress won't be so easily to accomplish in big leaps because they will have to deal first with every member of the Alchemic Regiment and take them on one by one.

I felt an unsavory taste on how the "Victor Hunt" team behaved and acted. To me they were bragging too much with the coolness of their Busou Renkins' abilities, recklessly taking on Victor without testing the measure of his powers.

Shusui was the only one who truly realized how bad news Victor meant when he (Victor) is serious once clashing his (Shusui) sword on the giant's chest and was not harmed at all.

Though I have to remark an inconsistency. When Victor and Kazuki (not Victorized yet) clashed, the former turned to scrap the latter's Sunlight Heart spear with only a single swap of his axe. However, Shusui's Samurai Sword X received no damage (not even a scratch) after sustaining one hit from Victor's axe.

It is supposed that the level difference between Victor and Shuusui is unfathomable and out of the league for the latter. Therefore, his sword should had broken up after that one hit, leaving him dead in an instant.

On the other hand, I have to commend the tracks inserted on the other two fights. They sounded like Star Wars scores from the dark side.

I commend much Pappi's and Gota's fights. Theywere brilliantly in terms of pacing and strategy.

One highlight about the fights for Busou Renkin is that they normally take about a quarter to half of an entire episode. Furious and climatic fights usually should take about a third to near full-time of the running episode.

Pappi figures out that to stop Ikusabe from regenerating he has to force him to let go off his (Ikusabe) triple spear Busou Renkin, which he does by merging with the arm that holds the spear and thus interrupting the particle flow for a complete regeneration.
Though I wonder if Ikusabe passed away from shock at losing a full arm or died.

I think it is the former, because the energy should had burnt and then cauterized the wound to prevent massive hemorrhage.

Gota worked out a double-edged sword. He had to leave himself openly exposed to lure out Shinobu from his dimension hideout and get purposefully hit. In turn, Shinobu himself also was left opened in an exposed position to get hit by Gota's Motor Gear Busou Renkin.
But that wasn't the purpose of said strategy. Instead, Gota's strategy was to bathe his chakram disc with Shinobu's blood. In that way, it did not make a difference for Shinobu to hide into another dimension. Gotas' discs followed him to there, because Shinobu's Busou Renkin recognized his DNA in order to operate and the discs already had his blood on them, allowing them to dimension travel to where Shinobu was and making him mincemeat.

Ah, DeathKillz I noticed a few errors on your review.

In the previous episode Ikusabe promised Pappilion that if he defeated him, then the Alchemic Warrior would spill the beans about Kazuki's location, and that's what Ikusabe did. If Ikusabe did not confess right away was because he was ailing from the injury of his lost arm.

After Chitose recruited him for the "Hunt Victor" team, I clearly listened to Shusui asking her if Kazuki would come with them for that mission. At that point, Shusui is neither awared of Kazuki's recent metamorphosis nor knowledgeable that his only friend has been made an elimination target by the Alchemic Regiment.

However, it is logical to assume that during the timeskip between when Chitose recruits Shusui and when he is onboard the plane with the rest of the team, then Chitose would have filled him in on the details about Kazuki's victorization.

I am basing foundation to establish this statement upon the long pause of silence that Chitose delivered to Shusui when asked if Kazuki was made a member of the same team to hunt down Victor.

I am not a great fan of the battle against Victor, too. It was not in the manga and maybe that explains why there's some oddities. That Shusui's busou renkin was not destroyed could be considered a plot hole, but you could still argue that maybe Victor used less strength, or something.

Maybe part of the fight's purpose was to make the audience understand the difference of power between Victor and the Renkin Sendan. Another purpose was probably to give those characters something to do. Maruyama and Inukai had been meant to fight Kazuki, Gouta and Tokiko earlier, and those battles were cut in order to shorten this part of the story...
It's nice that they were not cut entirely, but given something else to do. It's similar for Busujima. In the manga she appeared in various scenes with Hiwatari, which all did not make it into the anime.

But first of all, it's really weird to see Busujima in a battle. XD WTF, sending Busujima against Victor. I'm outraged!
In fact, seeing all those lowest-ranking, youngest characters against Victor... kind of weird. It would have been nice to have at least one genuinely strong guy with them, just for safety. They work together better than I expected, but the battle was so very short, Maruyama and Inukai looked quite like one-trick-ponies.

But then again, the manga lacked Shusui at this point, and I'm happy he gets to do something.

Interesting episode 19

Gouta isn't that weak, despite the fact he's no match for Kazuki when it comes to d*ck ranking... He actually kept his coolness and managed to trick his opponent.

I enjoyed his fight against that spikey dude, and hoped for some Air Gear fighting ^^".

Though I didn't see the preview, Kazuki's better kick Bravo's ass : I just don't like filthy seducer

Well a subbed episode 19

Well this was an interesting episode. We got to check out three fights and that's always good. Papilon did great figuring out a good weakness for that guys ability. Though it seems that in order for him to get a win he needs to blow himself up along with the opponent. Was wondering how he'd get himself out of that problem but did well at figuring it out.

The battle against victor wasn't bad. Though that Inukai guy's Busou Renkin didn't seem all that impressive since all it did was try to gnaw Victor's ankles off. Well at least they weren't real dogs considering what happened to them in the end. It was weird that Shunsui's sword wasn't destroyed but I guess stranger things have happened. Maybe his sword is more solid?....

Finally Gouta had a great fight. Really got to see his mind at work figuring out how to strike back against that guy. Also it's too bad Tokiho doesn't notice anything considering how hard Gouta has fought to keep her safe. He took some pretty painful hits but in the end had a strategy to win. Covering his gears in the guys blood and sending them after him was pretty smart and worked well.

What I love about this show is how they find interesting ways to fight. It's not just the same thing over and over again. Even if the Busou Renkin is the same there are so many ways to use it. Of course the variety they have come up with is fun from swords, gears, and even metallic dogs. Next week will be fun with Kazuki getting another shot at Bravo. He'll have to avoid getting caught in that Silver Skin Reverse if he doesn't want to lose yet again.

It's Samurai X, you can't break that sh*t . Unless you are an incurable illness or a sheath called Tomoe.

Seriously, though, I think it's because Samurai X discharges excessive energy. Therefore (and I know I'm crazy for saying this in the anime world) the only destructive power came from the mass of the axe and the speed at which it moves (kinetic energy) as oppose to some zOMG pwnage power of the 999th Hokage.

I have rewatched episode 19 again, but this time the sub version.

I can deduce from analyzing what went on is that the next set of fights will be one-on-one for each of the protagonists.

Last week we have Papillion v.s. Ikusabe / Gouta v.s. Negoro / Team "Hunt Victor" v.s. Victor

This week we have Kazuki v.s. Bravo Round 2 from what was displayed in the preview.

I just hope that Tokiko gets granted a piece of the action soon.

I am very certain that Kazuki and Shusui will have to duel again, but I wonder if it is going to be to protect their loved ones or is it going to be for honor among fighter swordsmen?

I am also expecting a Gouta v.s. Hiwatari Round 2. Hiwatari seriously undermines his foes. The loner type that just fights to ends meet as quickly as possible.
