and yeah, I don't know how I completely forgot that the beginning of episode 8 was the WDT with Rudolph winning it.

this has been an enjoyable, mostly harmless ride.

Also love the tidbit about how Goldship stayed with Trainer-san despite the other two leaving. Makes me like her even more!

I personally interpreted the concert featuring all of them as just being for the sake of grandeur/light fanservice, honestly. The horse girls in 2nd and 3rd place didn't perform with Special Week for the Japan Cup concert as per the conditions we were initially given, so I wouldn't be surprised if this finale concert broke the pattern, too.

That aside, the series was cute, funny, and better than I anticipated it'd be. I think I'm giving it a solid 7/10.

Actually, some G1 races have the winner perform alone. Japan Cup is a G1 so it's totally consistent that Spe was alone on stage.

The Winter Dream Cup is also a G1. The previous winner was Rudolf in episode 8 and she was alone on stage (see the pic), so that's also consistent.

Sorry; dynamic content not loaded. Reload?

On top of that, in episode 13 they said Vodka and Scarlet tied in the Fall Tennoushou, also a G1, and they both went on stage together.

Conclusion. The only reason all the girls were on stage at the end is because they all won. It was a draw.

Not sure I like that it was an 18-way draw... I honestly find that kind of lame. Oh, well.

Makes sense in te sense of the Gacha game: Those 18 are probly the 5-stars. And in RL there is much debate among horse race fans about who was best.

Makes sense they wouldn't pick one winner

This is the anime, not the game. I prefer finality and distinction, or proper vagueness, from a storytelling standpoint. But that's just me.

But the anime is just an advert for the game, so...

So... what, exactly? You think that means that literally whatever they do, no matter how poorly executed, is somehow magically justified because of that? Sorry, but I've never agreed with that logic.

Not hardly.

The 18-way tie makes sense for the game because it doesn't diminish any one of them as a potential unit for the game, as the most desired 5-stars. Also, there is lots of REAL debate about which horse was best which spans generations. (Oguri Cap, for instance was already dead in the real world when Gold Ship was born) So it also makes sense not to anger fans in that which was best debate. The episode plays more like a bonus Blu Ray clip than part of the main narrative.

I don't agree with the point that since it's based on the game that it needs to follow the same conventions, BUT I do agree that the last episode serves more as an extra episode than a proper final episode. The episode is itself is even labeled as an "extra race." Still, I really enjoyed it as a finale.

Sad that this is over. It's a fun show that brightened up my Mondays. Anyway, there's still a special episode scheduled for November this year.

And found out that Goldship has her own youtube channel.
