Outside of the "what the heck" opening the episode was ok. It was the weakest of the season to be sure. Should we care that much about this girl who only wants to become famous again and apparently has blackouts where she fantasizes about being a famous idol?

It all worked out fine I suppose. At least Ooshiro created the chance for Kanata to get some smug moments of owning an amateur .

That whiskey tango foxtrot had some pretty noticeable CGI and reminded me of Wake Up, Girls! (which is not to be taken as a compliment). Beyond that, I think it's nice to get a slower episode once every now and then, even if that time is indubitably better spent taking training seriously.

Got to agree that this was the weakest episode. Akari just isn't entertaining/interesting enough to me.

The beginning definitely caught me off guard though. I honestly thought I was watching the wrong show

Well, that was a weird, and kind of ugly OP for sure. I'm not mad, just surprised. Guess we got an idol manager now, so yay, and we got amore nice bits with our main couple and the twins as well, so its all good.

I like Akari and I absolutely love that she is finally making sense and correcting the biggest threat to my suspension of disbelief in this series (finally, somebody in this show uses sunscreen and calls the others out for not doing so). Other than that, a weak episode, mainly because the execution of the emotional content felt so cheesy. On the good side, smug Kanata in the match, and the character dynamics keep going strong. The issue was mainly in the emotional climax sequences.

This might be the first time I've seen a new year episode were the girls were so lightly dressed. And next time it's summer already? Wasn't really expecting a timeskip. I guess we won't see much of Marissa.

Haruka and Claire's similarities have been obvious for a while, but I hadn't really noticed Kanata and Emily were so similar as well. Akari is the odd one out.

Narumi played it cool until the end.

How old were the twins supposed to be in that flashback? Because they were pretty "grown up".

The mom of those two Thomas siblings is perfect for this anime (except for her driving part maybe lol). Really glad to see that she is trying to help Kanata and Haruka together as a pair.

With the time left and the focus probably being on getting to the scene we saw in the first episode I could see Akari kind of missing out. It'd be nice if they did find someone for her to team up with since it is awkward for her to do anything without a partner. Although maybe long term that doesn't matter as much for her. The club can be somewhere she can hang with friends while continuing her main goal of becoming famous even if it's in some other medium than beach volleyball.
