Episode 6:

Sweet, I liked this episode for the song Walkure played, better than their previous performance imo.

Action is nice, I got much more than expected. Keith and Messer still has that rivalry thing going on, Hayate improved his skills, and the battle in general is pretty good. I think Hayate needed to pay more attention to his surroundings though.

Mikumo and Freyja stood out as the best singers for that performance. Bogue still has that grudge against Walkure, the song must be ringing hard on his ears lol

Even despite the stream skipping, that has to be most intense dogfight in Delta so far, especially since it's in the vein of classic Macross dogfights where it's the Variable Fighters that take the metaphorical stage, while Walkure hang back to provide song support to remove the mind control from NUNS. Very much like how much more dynamic the variable fighter combat is here, especially using their arms while in fighter mode, and of course Hayate using Battroid to his best. Hayate takes first blood from the Knights trying to save Mirage from a tag team, although doing so shakes him up a bit until a good romantic talk with Mirage later calms him down.

Also, looks like Chaos does have Alpha and Beta Squadrons also equipped with 31's.

There's a post-credit scene, where they outline their next mission: infiltrating planet Voldor, and in the preview we see Mirage having some new furry ears and face markings.

Episode started with Messer messing with everyone again.

The mysterious venus was singing Heinz's song.

As Windermere conquers more planets Chaos begins an operation to stop the tide. Aether launches with Alpha, Beta and Delta Squadron.

This episode focuses on the trials of the main triangle. Mirage burdened by her family's legacy and expectations of others. Hayate in saving Mirage from death has first kill with a mook newbie Aerial Knight. Freyja with accusation of Bogue she is traitor.

Mikumo questions what is Freyja motivation and telling her to comfort Hayate. However Mirage beat her to the punch. Mirage relating how she felt with her first kill fighting fighting an Anti-UN group. Freyja is at the background contemplating.

Yes people the love triangle is forming.

Keith in this episode is blood thirsty. They had to retreat as it is affecting Heinz badly. Later Keith brings Heinz outside to show him the reason why they fight. Showing him a crater bristling with energy. The doom of Windermere.

Post credits Captain Johnson presents an operation to Vordor. An infiltration one it seems. Preview has Mirage in a disguise.

Gotta love the battle in this ep, especially with how Hayate performed here.
Poor Freyja, she just wants to follow her dream, not get caught up in a war with her home planet.

Interesting, so that crater is supposedly killing Windermere, a weapon dropped by NUNS 7 years ago?

First kill for someone who doesn't want to fight, tough for Hayate but he seems to have bounced back quickly.

The in universe rumor is that Windermere used a dimensional weapon, that's probably the result of that. It's possible both sides blamed each other for it and the real culprit is a 3rd party...

Anti-UN separatists huh, though for that to work there needs be existing animosity from Wind to the NUN already and whatever caused the crater as final straw.

Yeah, this seems like the first step in the triangle. Hayate is transforming from a irresponsible guy into a soldier, hence suddenly Mirage is the one who has a rapport with him.

Hmm... some tension there between Keith, Roid and Heinz; might Keith, the bastard son, actually be trying to kill Heinz through overwork or would that just be too obvious? There certainly seems to be evidence for him just being very conscious of the time crunch they're in with whatever is happening in that crater, since he brings Heinz there to see it just to drive the point home.

Also, apparently Mirage's problem from Messer's point of view is that she's 'too textbook.' She executes everything just as pilots are taught to in training and is thus too easy to read in a fight. And we of course we have no obvious counterexample for her to learn new habits from either. (Though actually, Messer does note that Hayate doesn't have that problem, but still points out that both he and Mirage are too soft, and discourages them from trying to spare their enemies even though he and Arad do- a suggestion that they promptly ignore when they work together to take down a mind-controlled pilot without killing him. This will probably be a trend.)

Interesting. Mikumo seems to be implying that Freyja is too emotionally dependant on Hayate right now. She has to grow out of that and find her own resolve, or she won't be able to reach her full potential.

I think Mikumo has realized that right now Feyja is mostly singing for Hayate, not for everyone. You could say she's failing as an idol, though this would be the first time Macross actually explores the idol thing from that perspective.

Great episode!

I really loved the fight scenes here and the Gamlin kick was nice too! Too bad for Bellri boy, Herman will grieve for you but it's nice to see Hayate first kill, you can't protect everyone in a battlefield.

Poor Kaname, she try so hard but Messer makes things really difficult for her or is he only interested in Keith?
