[PS4] Project Sakura Wars (2020)
So some months ago, there was news that SEGA was working on a brand new Sakura Wars game.... and now, we finally have confirmation:
"Project Sakura Wars" is actually just the tentative title, but damn nice to see it getting localization right off the bat. Hopefully this means a PC release ain't far away. Kinda sad Kosuke Fujishima isn't doing the character designs this time, though Tite Kubo's (of Bleach fame) designs ain't bad.

Oh my, that classic theme. Hype at maximum!
Indeed, Kubo’s designs aren’t bad at all. Unfortunately, I missed out on the recent entries into the franchise. What’s this about the previous Combat Revue being lost? (or were they just disbanded?) Live forever, Sakura Wars!

Word from what I read is that the new characters are there and are operational for a few years now to replace the original Hanagumi team. Takes place 12 years after the events of SW: V in New York. It'll be in Taisho 29 (Assuming that Showa will be instituted later and using the years tied to it as a basis, it'll take place in 1940. This possibly means no Pacific War/WWII).
Background stuff also indicates that there are more Assault Force units worldwide aside from Japan, France and America. Makes me wonder if a Soviet AF is out there? Also more staff info: Kōhei Tanaka - Music Jirō Ishii (Under the Dog, BBK/BRNK, Monster Strike the Animation anime, 428: Shibuya Scramble and 'Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors' games) - Storywriter Ouji Hiroi - Original creator

I don't really know much about the Sakura Wars franchise aside from the basics and how iconic a franchise it is, but it's pretty awesome seeing them reviving it for the modern era. The game looks pretty cool .
I think I heard Ayane Sakura as the Main Heroine? And maybe Miyuki Sawashiro as one of the other women in the video? Curious to see if they'll dub it, although I think SEGA has dubbed most of their JRPG releases in the West as of late (Yakuza series aside, of course).

Anyway, it's nice to see Sakura Taisen back even though with brand new characters. Will they show us the aged old cast?

Gematsu press release
Looks like the theater has fallen on hard times in the 1940s, according to SEGA's press release. ---- https://twitter.com/sam_animeherald/...98208010530816 If you're sharp, you'll be able to see someone's name on the list in this tweet.

Basically it’s about monsters that appear in the world and girls with spirit powers pilot mechs called kobus to fight.
In the SW verse, there’s a global Demon War instead of World War I. Although some sources say that the DW started after WWI and the Russian Revolution.

Looks like they're keeping the tradition of there being traditional animated sequences. Those were done by Production IG, right? I wonder if they'll still do it here. "Project Sakura Wars will feature Japanese voice acting with subtitles in English, German, French, and Spanish." So no English dub? Or is this just for the Japanese release?

There's no indication that an English voice track will be available.

Here's some details on how it started, including getting Kubo-sensei on board.
