The Nove fight is one gaping plothole that can only be explained with "Nove lost on purpose." Just see how several chapters later Einhart went from "can fight on equal ground with someone on the forward's level" (Nove and Subaru are of similar level now) to "Would have a hard time in the elite division of the tournament."
That's a rather huge powerdown, and there's only one explanation that makes sense. |

As things platyed out it seemed more like a plan Nove tought on the moment, which was a very smart move from her part indeed. When she realized Einhart is much tougher than she expected she decided to put a tracking device on her just in case she ended up getting her ass handed to her, which is exactly what happened xD But yeah, the powerdown you mentioned makes little sense unless: A) Nove is not as a good fighter as the plot claims or... B) Fighters on the elite branch of the tournament are indeed just that powerfull. They're alites for a reason xD The B option makes some sense specially considering Miura, Einhart and Rio impressed audiences, judges and veterans all the same for their unusual level of talent and power. As someone pointed out, just because Victoria, Micaiah and the others seem to be as powerfull as the combat cyborgs doesn't mean everyone in the tournament is just as strong. We saw plenty of Red Shirt contestants on the early stages of the tournament and even between the Elites are glaringly notorious power gaps like the one between Els Tamin and the veterans Harii and Victoria.

Well to be honest there are a lot of gaping plot holes in the Nanoha stories which kinda distorted exactly how much difference there are between power VS skill, such as how Nanoha and Fate would've surely, most definitely beat the hell outta most of the competitors we're seeing right now, at the age of 9. When Nanoha was still a greenhorn. Because their sheer firepower would blow the heck out of anyone.
Goddamn Starlight Breaker after a few months practicing with magic. I would interpret the Nove VS Einhart situation as: 1) Nove no longer fights to kill or severely incapacitate her opponents as before, 2) Nove was hinted to be struggling internally about how she should grow in the future thus becoming unsure of her fighting style, 3) Nove plans to capture Einhart with the minimal possible injuries and so held back a LOT, 4) Nove wanted to test out Einhart's intentions - since she is hunting to fight masters of magic all over the place - to see if they're malicious or not. She didn't seem like the type who would lose on purpose to me.

So... why didn't Nove wrestle the beat into submission and arrest it? Would seem to be a bit more straightforward than simply appearing to lose and attaching a tracking beacon instead.
Note: the only thing I can think of, is that Nove wanted to see who else might be behind this, and tracking the person might lead them to other stuff. But it was never stated as such, and they didn't wait too long before tracking the person down, anyway. |

To me it just looked like Einhart managed to catch Nove off-guard for a crucial moment and took her down with a single powerful attack, and Nove had planted the tracking device just in case things went south for her.

In my honest opinion,
Nove lost her cool during that fight, a costly mistake. She also assumed that Einhart would defend instead of countering, leaving her open. NSFW Nove's swearing (if typing the raw version is not allowed please let me know and I will change it) Sorry; dynamic content not loaded. Reload?Quote:
