I think it's meant to be more of a parody of dramatic moments like that in other anime.

I love this series. I think it is the best-directed show this season. Speaking of dramatic, has everyone seen episode 7? I think the first ten minutes of episode 7 are some of the most freaky crazy dramatic intense awesome moments I have seen in anime, ever!

Nah that's not it, the second season is way better than the first. I just bought all the DVDs for the first season and it isn't as good as the second season. Don't get me wrong I still like the first season but Felicia adds more to the show IMO.

About Jubei chan 1, im thinking i might get it, on a scale of 1-10 (1 being the highest) what would you give it?

I give it a 7/10, the second season: 9/10; it is entertaining but the second season has more action & thrill.

Even if you prefer the second season over the first (I guess not everyone will agree with you, but that's not the point here), I guess you would not enjoy it as much if you did not watch the first season at all, would you? That's the one thing I really hate about Jiyu, she starts off hating the Lovely Eyepatch
for no real reason. She doesn't even give it a chance at first. Also the way the creators reintroduce all of the characters makes it unnecessary to have seen the first season at all. However it is still good show.

Besides the only real thing I was wondering after seeing the first season was:

While Yagu Jubei is on his death bed he gives the Lovely Eyepatch to his disciple and tells him to find a female with "bon bons and a bum bum". Did he really mean for the Lovely Eyepatch to go to his daughter, Yagu Felicia?

Perhaps we can try and see if Jiyu is really another decendent of Yagyu Jubei. Besides, can you explain about how she's already that powerful even without transform? (Note: Mutodori)

She doesn't really start off hating it. She just tosses it aside without caring about it one way or the other.... Then it went into the garbage cause she didn't have an eye infection.

Actually, from my perspective, Jubei seems to be worried that she isn't herself when wearing the eyepatch. And the final couple of episodes of Jubei-chan from the first season may warrant some weight to Jiyu's fears, as she was totally lost to Yagyu Jubei's powers, who ended up taking over her body.

By then, I'm assuming Yagyu Jubei believes his daughter to be dead so it's likely he doesn't intend for the Lovely Eyepatch to go to Freasha. Also, by the first serie's end, Koinosuke feels Jiyu-chan is the rightful heir to Yagyu's sword techniques. Also, in the last two episodes of the first season, Yagyu Jubei was able to possess Jiyu's body, showing she is a perfect host for the Lovely Eyepatch's powers.

Just seen episode 7. Damn, this episode rocks! I think the action sequence is one of the best I've ever seen. Really creative. and it looks like the 'Great Special Technique' didn't do as much damage as I expected.

Well both Jiyu and Freasha is ticking me off a little bit. Freasha obviously...

She's gone totally the way of evil now. Yup, I agree that trying to steal Sai is pretty low. It would be stupid though, if Sai really starts to turn on his own daughter. I mean he worked his ass off trying to regain her trust after her mother died. Jiyu on the other hand is so naive. What with all those people getting hurt around, she should have helped out. No thanks to her, Kita's dead.

I agree for the same reasons--but since in a lot of anime the heroine is perfect or close to it, it's kind of a nice change to see someone with flaws. And Freasha needs to be beaten after ep 7. Hopefully Jiyu will just smack her down by the end, but I'm not sure she has it in her. And Sai is just spineless sometimes...if he doesn't trust his own daughter over Freasha something is wrong with him...

The fight sequence was mad crazy. Swordfighting with parachutes I dont think thats ever been done before.

BTW, I LOVE this show and I have never seen the first season. Felecia is great I love her cutesy to hardcore transitions and how she's always cuddling on Jiyu. I don't know why but this series reminds me of FLCL for some odd reason. A solid mix of comedy puns and great action I suppose.

Regardless of whether he is or not, I like to once again thank Jiyu for not doing anything while this very cool character was getting sliced. All the while, cute little Ayunosuke was doing his hardest, risking his life, begging her to do the right thing. Argh, the way Jiyu continually rejects and hurts his feelings is unbearable.

There's been a whole slew of awful shows lately but this one might take the cake. I can't wait for the April season since there will be so many brilliant series (unless a bunch of them completely screw up their transition from their manga counterparts).

Think Jiyu understands what a burden for Ayunosuke (and his father) the lovely eye patch has been. Which may in part be the reason why she repeatedly refuses requests to wear it.

Because if Jiyu does fully accept the lovely eye patch and the destiny that others wish to impose on her life by admitting that she is the rightful owner, then she becomes a willing participant in what will follow. Knowing that the lovely eye patch can put her in situations where she might have to kill or be killed, and understanding that one day when her time is over someone else will be called upon to perform the same duty as little Ayunosuke (and wander for another 300 years trying to find someone new to give the lovely eye patch to). So instead Jiyu wants to deny her personal involvement and shift that responsibility onto Freasha by giving her the lovely eye patch that she wants so much. Reasoning that Freasha's claim to the lovely eye patch is more valid than her own, that by giving Freasha the lovely eye patch Jiyu will conclude her personal involvement in the conflicts and problems related to owning that item, and that by giving it to Freasha Jiyu hopes to restore their friendship (by showing Freasha that Jiyu considers their friendship to be more valuable than the lovely eye patch). Taken this way, the events up to now might be seen as a test of Jiyu's resolve and a means of showing the audience under what circumstances and for what reasons that resolve was weakest.
