If it is something that will happens later in the series (and I'm almost sure will be) I see one of these 3 possibility be the cause.
1 his King of power becomes stronger and makes it possible to extract the void without putting ko the person from whom the void it's extract (quite frankly I doubt it)
2 Their connection / relationship comes to an lv that causes the chance to extract her void without that Inori faint .
3Since Inori seems to have two personalities this situation will make possible to extract her void while the other becomes the dominant personality in the meantime. And for this reason Inori (or the other girl) stays awake while Shu uses one of two void.
If she really is a clone of that girl (which is not certain or at least I'm don't sure about this )Maybe she's like

The latter most likely. There is quite a bit of media that features Inori awake while Shu holds the sword. This one is exacly like the OP except the positions are inverted

Inori gets an upgrade in expressiveness, and not a moment too soon. She really needed to take this step to make the drama surrounding her more personal. The new facial expressions add so much to her. I know they've been going for "enigmatic bedroom eyes" with her up until now, but too often she ended up more "Nope, Chuck Testa" lifeless.
Hare's a goddamned superstar this week. No one else even makes an effort to see things from Shu's perspective, but she tries to support him. Not only that, she totally calls him on his BS when he finally goes too far. She strikes the perfect balance between supportive and proactive when no one else seems capable of doing so.
I sort of wish Shu hadn't started the episode so close to rock bottom, so that we could have seen him collapse into what he becomes in the end. I kept wanting him to struggle with maintaining his composure while he was being subjected to those flashes of horror, but by the time the episode starts, he's already pretty much been worn down by them. But I'm a backseat driver like that.
Well, Shu just reached a whole new level of fail with this episode. Of course, I already thought he couldn't get any worse so I already had him ranked a zero. What's left? Sub Zero? And no Shu, Hare is not free-2-sex, nor is Inori "yours" by any stretch of the meaning.
Honestly, I'm so bothered by the first half that I have nothing more to say. Ten episodes in and still dealing with Shu's bullshit. Fantastic.
Hare slapping Shu was the only redeeming value of the entire episode.

NOOOO! Sub Zero is an actual person, and not fail or painful to watch. For Shu, I think at this point, lets just say he should be in the Hall of Shame for his pathetic showing in episode 10.

I was really excited after I watched this episode so I kinda blabbed on about it
but this is probabley my favorite episode so far.
too hard to make us hate Shu and think he's a wuss. It's honestly almost painful to watch how nearly unrealistically bad a funk he's fallen into. The staff is literally taking EVERY possible step to make him look like an ass. Even

having him try to take advantage of Hare's feelings for him? Really, staff? REALLY?! That's nothing at all like Shu.
As I also said before, they'd seriously better over-compensate by making Shu one hell of a badass later.
On the other hand though, the next episode preview makes it pretty clear that he's going to quickly get over it and save the day, so let's all hold off on starting up the Hate-Shu bandwagon.
And are we sure this is a two-cour series? We're approaching what would be the halfway point for a two-cour show, but we've already got a major crisis as if it were a one-cour show. Not to mention

I hope not, but I wonder if Guilty Crown is getting cancelled and cut down from two cours to one like Angel Beats was.

Okay, we are ten episodes in, some of us may have wondered, why are they calling it Guilty Crown? Why in the Licensed Sub do they even picture it as a Crown of Thorns? That' a clear allusion to Christ, and not only that, but to a messiah/savior in works of fiction. The difference here though, is Shu isn't God on earth, he never wanted these abilities, and just wanted a normal life, unfortunately what I feel Shu has not yet figured out, and he better figure it out soon, is that there will not be a normal for anyone if he doesn't find a way within himself to fight that everyone might have a normal life again.
However, I keep thinking back to the opening music, and the picture they are almost painting is one where Shu is on his own, and everyone is against him. Well the writers could have set up him against the world in this episode, but I'm still hopeful for a reunion with Inori, Ayase and the rest of Undertaker. I also have a feeling and I hesitate to even say it here, but if you know anything about the messiah archetype you have to suspect that something is coming. I'm not ready to blurt it out yet even in this spoiler, but it raises questions for the next season for sure.
The other thing I've got weird vibes over is the Void Genome. If as Gai says there were only three vials. Where are the other two. The trinity sort of dynamic there has me wondering how that may play out as well. However, I expect that Haruka may show more of real motherly tendencies towards Shu at some point, and that up till now here goofy antics to her son are her own way of dealing with what happened on Lost Christmas. That's a though, which I can't prove yet, but I'm worried that she may become more of an important figure in this show than I initially gave to her character. I can't help wonder where that will leave her.
Now if I can get back to Shu at where he is right now. Wow, I feel for the guy, and it's a shame that the only ones who maybe want to see Shu say something are perhaps the characters he least needs it from. We got to remember that Shu has been without a father figure for a while, and while some of us May unwittingly attach such stigma to Gai. Gai clearly isn't a father figure, and in a way is like Shu, just trying to keep a facade up for the benefit of the organization.

At this point I have so much speculation, and really can not help but wonder where they may be going from here. We just don't know yet whether Gai and the others survive who were on the plain. We don't know quite what's going on with Inori when the resonance starts, and while we clearly see that Hare knows more than she's been letting on, she realizes that Shu is living in denial and needs a reality check. It's a shame really but this is a defense reaction. He's going back to where he began basically, as if nothing had changed, but has not yet given himself permission to grieve, nor has he managed to realize that the crown that has come onto him, it marks him, and no matter how much he'd like to run away from it he can't. At some point he must accept that to be able to do what his destiny calls for, which admittedly could be a horror worse than the visions we've seen to date.
Two things that have me really irritated right now. How does Segai know so much stuff ahead of time? How does Undertaker know that these things are going down so much. Is there a double/triple agent here somewhere? It's a shame that this first season will end with fewer answers, because if this next episode isn't a recap of the first season, I don't see anything but more build up of Lost Christmas rehashed. I know the guy they met on the boat is supposedly helping them, but something still feels rather fishy in the way their missions go down. I just can't put my finger on it.
All in all, I rated this episode an 8, but I really think the characterization of these persons in the show is better than most give it credit, and who doesn't see the new song Inori wrote as necessary, not only to heal Shun, but perhaps to turn back what just happened? No way to know though, we just better wait and see.

I've been proceeding with the idea that Segai and Gai both are pretty smart and have sources within the other's organization. But after rewatching Episode 10 there's one thing that's nagging at me. The facial features of Segai and Gai, why do I feel there's something there. Yea the names sound interesting, but now I'm wondering, why is Gai doing this? Why is Segai? Am I the only one who sees an odd similarity between these two? Could that be how they seem to know what the other is doing?
Some of you, in this episode said Gai's behavior toward Shu was understandablle but I don't agree. Yes Gai don't have much time left and that's exactly why his behavior in this episode is completely stupid. He needs Shu power and yet, all he did in this episode was to point a gun toward him. Lol really ? Why didn't he try to talk to him first instead of making him his ennemy ? (like Ayase) He's an horrible leader and because of him FP is now on the verge of collapse.
I wouldn't say that Gai's behavior is or isn't understandale, but you have to remember that Gai wasn't there with what happened to Shu either. The guy I think has a sense that something is wrong, but I really don't get the whole pull a gun, chamber a round, fire it off close but intentionally miss thing. That just felt weird.
I tell you what I do like Ayse more this episode because she tries to talk some sense into them. The only thing I can feel, besides Gai's illness is that he's aware of more than he's let on, because he feels he has to carry this alone. I think that's one of his flaws as a character actually.
