This series reminds me of what I read about Japanese gardening in the past, which tries to simulate a part of nature artificially, which is basically contradicting. So, accepting the contradiction and simplifying it is its basic philosophy, which is usually represented by contrasting light and shadow. Yeah, I agree that the duality concept (either as contradicting nature of just human desires or of all living entities) plays an important role in the series.

No luck. Seriously this is going to bother me now. I swear I have heard that voice from somewhere. I swear. And....bothered.

Bittersweet story with a ray of hope at the ending. I tend to love stories like this, ans as usual Mushishi delivers with its great storytelling and voice acting.

I almost thought Yasu surely died even when the rain started to fall.

One of the best episode of the season. Teru's final lines were beautiful.

Ginko and Teru share a similar way of life, they're unable to settle down anywhere because of their gifts/cruses and they have decided to use them to help other people. As Ginko put it, Teru found the perfect way to coexist with the mushi possessing her. It's tough being a drifter, but at least Teru now knows she will be able to have a normal life someday.

Yoko Hikasa was great as Teru. She sounded a bit different from usual.

I doubt you heard her anywhere. She just has a very common voice.

I can't find any indication that any of the child actors used here have had major roles in anything else (though the boy who plays Ryou has the same name as Japan's most famous golfer, Ishikawa Ryo).

So was anybody else tempted to scream "PLEASE COME, THE TENDER RAIN" during this episode or was it just me?

Ep 7 was another excellent one....

The focus on Teru's character was very thought provoking and moving.

Stunningly executed wth such a simple theme, too. Just plain excellent....

Indeed, I was thinking Ginko would share that he has a similar circumstance to give her a feeling of camaraderie, but that's not really his style, I guess.

Thank god for the interesting story, i thought it might be something boring since ep6 was good. Rain is always a great subject to use.

Really loved the different shades of irony throughout last week's episode. Also it's kind of funny how the rain girl's name is Teru, which is similar to and reminds me of the "Teru Teru Bozu"- a doll hung by the window in the hope of keeping rain away

Not sure if the same character for that (which apparently is a verb that describes sunshine according to wiki) is in Teru's name but there's food for thought.

Also happened to come across this picture on Tumblr. Apparently drawn from an animator named Terumi Nishii for the latest episode.

Spoiler for awwww it's Teru who brings rain with the guy who chases rainbows from S1!:

No Mushishi this week either. By popular demand (my ass!), they're re-airing the special instead of a new episode.

I saw the news a few days ago but wanted to make sure before posting it. I am sadness.

That's my bet. It's way too fishy that they would re-air the special so soon.

I hope that doesn't mean there will be one unaired episode by the end.

If there was popular demand for the special, then release it on DVD to make money...these repeated skipped weeks are a real drag.
