the flashback of kakashi's rasengan and naruto's futon rasengan was very well made IMO, even the background music at that scene totally suited it correctly

Well that was one heck of an episode. Amazingly a lot of it went as I expected it to. At least the bit about using Kakuzu's blood and faking the injury. Worked pretty nicely to take down another one of that jerk's hearts. Sadly he just won't die yet, but shouldn't be able to hold out forever. Excellent strategy put together by Shikamaru on this one. Really is an amazing genius and when serious its tough to stop him. Hidan may not die but there are ways to make the rest of his existence a painful experience.

No surprise at least that Naruto would show up with his super rasengan. But he's definitely showing a lot more intelligence. That lesson on using shadow clones has really paid off in various ways. Though seems a bit stupid to use a technique that refers to summoning numerous shadow clones and only have two show up. Wouldn't calling it the regular technique cause the same result? Anyways this should be pretty good now that he's using them to test his opponent and study how best to approach.

For being a smart guy, Shikamaru standing in front of an exploding body isn't so smart. But of course nothing happens.

Would've been hilarious if he did get sent flying after acting all cool.

basically what shika was saying is that his clan lives there and the deer will keep hidan hidden. no one enters. no one leaves.

Naruto's new technique looks pretty sweet animated, I remember being extremely underwhelmed when I saw it in the manga.

Not sure if someone said this already, but dosent Naruto's eye pupil look sharper now?!?! Or is it just me? Does that mean that's he starting to use his brain a little by observing the situation before engaging into a fight? :P

It's his kyuubi's eyes, but they forgot to make them red.

I don't think that they forgot. The eyes being blue means that Naruto is using kyuubi chakra but he has it under control. The less control he has the more he is transforming. Naruto is progressing in his learning how to get more and more kyuubu chakra for use in a fight and at the same time not becoming a monster.
