I gotta say, dang, Neko-musume's design is... umm... modern?
But I can't complain, because the only reason I tried to watch this anime was because how cute the character designs of the female characters are.

But it turned out to be a good surprise. The whole tree thing was actually kinda scary, the action was good, and Mana was cute.
A pretty fun first episode.

PS: I misheard them calling Mana "Mara", which obviously didn't sound... umm... normal when they called her by nickname.

Finished watching the first 2 episodes of Gegege no Kitaro and while everyone got angry that this show replaced Dragon Ball Super, I felt that this new iteration is decent to watch. Also, gotta love Neko Musume!

I neither like or dislike this series. It was good childhood memory, but that's it.
I only watch because new design, but then how this series tell story about youkai living in modern world just caught me out of guard. And now I decided to watch 3 episodes and see how this series going.
I like it so far and maybe I will watch it to an end.

However, Neko Musume's height is bothering me! I don't remember her being that tall in the previous series.
If I remember correctly, Neko was only slightly taller than Kitaro but now she seem taller than an average human. It making her look less cuter as well.

I have no prior knowledge of this franchise, so please take my opinion accordingly.

The way I read Neko's behavior is that she felt jealous of and/or threatened by Mana, who is (a) new in Kitarou's life and (b) a human. She may be better in the future, now that Mana has started calling her "Neko onee-san." Presumably, that dynamic will make her feel more secure.

I don't have much knowledge ether, I mainly watched the 5th Kitaro series on Animax. Neko was shorter , had red hair and blunt toward her crush on Kitaro unlike the current series where she seem to be a cold tsundere.
However according to wikia, it seem almost every series of Kitaro is like a different continuity. Basically you can see this series as a whole new series rather than a continuation of previous series.

Anyway, I can see the upcoming shipping war in the series.
Neko appeared in all series and had a crush on Kitaro but he only saw her as friend. Almost all Kitaro's canon girlfriend were human.

Neko's evolution throughout the series! I have problem choosing between current Neko or 5th series Neko.

This version of Kitaro seem harsher compare to oher Kitaro.
