If it didn't disappoint you then you liked it, probably a lot. That's what favorites are, series you liked. Can you point out shows that "didn't dissapoint you" that you didn't like/watch and was super hyped. Probably not. Since if you didn't liked it then it doesn't meet the thread criteria, if you didn't watch it then you just don't have an opinion to begin with.

It's indeed a slightly different question, but one that shares the same exact answer. Hence why there's very little point to it.

Question could also be phrased "What are your favourite popular animes?"

I'd say Mushishi and Honey and Clover.

I usually end up hating all the hyped shows but there are few exceptions:
Magical Madoka, I think it deserved its praises. It kept me captivated and I finished it in one day.

Duno if it was that hyped but while it was airing I heard about it a lot. The show is Shiki which also managed to keep me glued to the screen. There are only few shows that managed to do that to me.

Code Geass, was not very excited to watch it since I don't like mecha and art in the show but story proved to be good despite all of that.

Death Note, if forget the last few episodes it was an excellent show.

FMA is one of the best and rarest shows out there.

GTO was a great show, heard a lot about it before watching.

K-ON happened to be entertaining despite not having any actual story.

That's mostly it... there are some other good shows among hyped ones but I did not like them as much as these.

Fate Stay Night matched the hype.

I My Me Strawberry Eggs outclassed the hype.

Adding my voice to the choir for Madoka. It really was excellent.

Death Note is a special case for me. It was hyped beyond belief for me personally, as I had a friend who had been watching it and was bugging me about it constantly. You could see the light of passion burning in his eyes when he talked about it. At the time, I hadn't watched anime for years, and didn't much care to. But I gave the show a chance, why eludes me, but it exceeded even his praises. It's a wonderful experience, and I think it won a lot of people over to "our side."

Anohana comes to mind. I didn't hear much about it before it premiered.

Um......no.

There's a different between just "liking" and being like "OMG DAT'S MY FAVORITEST THING EVER"

lol

There are plenty of anime which I can say "I like them" but they're not my favorites by a long shot. I liked Madoka. But it's not my favorite mahou shoujo anime by a long shot.
