So, this episode was a lot of prep for the big battle to come.
McGillis in not as far gone as I thought, but he is more naive than I thought. It turns out there really wasn't a lot more to his plan than Bael and it looks like the other Seven Stars are not going to agree to it. Rustal calls out McGillis on pretty much everything he's done, both the real stuff (trying to kill Gaelio and orchestrating Carta's death) and things that Gaelio only thinks he has done (unjustly pushed Iznario from his position and using Almiria as a tool). Gaelio now that he is revealed is turning Vidar back into Kimaris (that thing barely did anything and now you're going to turn it back again? You spent like half the season watching it being put together!) He looks rather ragged once he loses the gleam of hatred. But anyway, Tekkadan is caught in the middle and Orga can't believe this was all there was to Macky's plan. He's still going to stick with McGillis though, and his men, especially the newbies are questioning what he's thinking. The McGillis and Orga talk and Orga gives Macky the "BRIGHT PUNCH" of reality and that Macky didn't think this through. Orga threatens McGillis very obviously, and this was one of the highlights of the episode to me. It rose Orga up a few pegs and pushed McGillis down a few and really made them feel like real equals for the first time since they formed this alliance. The other scene that I liked was Macky talking to Amiria and telling her the truth about Gaelio and that despite that, he in fact cares for her. Amiria can't take all this drama and first tries to threaten McGillis, but then turns the knife on herself. He blocks the knife with his hand, in order to stop her. It was a sweet scene, despite the huge age difference, you can feel that he is showing her the real him. This being outlined all the more when Isurugi interrupts the scene and when Macky turns to him, he is looking at him with his real eyes, which startle the man. Its a short scene but a very good moment. Last Atra finally confesses to Mika as she is so worried about him, and he gives her one of the sweetest hugs. And it seems that "fated day" is now upon them. Oh, and Rustal finally lets Iok out of timeout and gives him a really stern talking to. I don't care if he feels contrite, I'm not going to forgive the idiot. But we'll see where this leads us all next time. Are you sure we have like five or so episodes left?

Well, this is turning into a tragical comedy for me as I find myself chuckling nervously time and again when watching.
Gaelio orders to take off the disguise of Vidar and the dummy reactor. McGillis demands that the 7 stars obey him whom Bael has acknowledged based on the rule only known to GH and give him command of their forces to vanquish traitor Rustal. They though decide that they will take the wait-and-see approach: they won't obey McGillis because the rule about Bael was relevant in the MA war times, but they're not going to outright deny Bael, that's why they won't help Rustal either. Thus it doesn't go as planned for McGillis, as he didn't account for that, huh. I'm starting to to agree with Rustal when he said that if McGillis wanted to make history, he should've denied Agnika, not rely on his legend. Tekkadan+McGills' forces will have to fight Arianrhod, to everyone's horror, with Tekkadan being the vanguard. Zack is panicking that it's crazy, and Yukinojou says to him "It really would be so much easier on Orga if Tekkadan had more guys like you. Don't stop thinking." Shino is complaining a bit about what the kings of Mars deal is turning into as he readies his Flauros, but Eugene says that they were the ones who made Orga take this path and make the choices he has made, because they just basically put everything on his shoulders. The only thing they can do anymore is not to hesitate when Orga orders so, Shino says. Orga punching McGillis for his "some damage" in regards to Tekkadan's possible deaths ("Don't ya make sweeping generalizations!") and the fact that McGillis suspected the fight with Arianrhod is unavoidable, he just didn't let his allies know, was somehow satisfying. His "Let's dispense with all pretense" was intense, too. And what he said, about Tekkadan not betraying those they're allied with but not risking their lives for nonsense/crazy things not worth it, gives the possible loophole for Tekkadan to turn on McGillis later. And everyone chanting "this is the last one" is totally depressing. Atra and Mika are conveniently alone near Barbatos for Atra's confession scene because "everyone went to Hotarubi". So yeah, that baby is pretty much confirmed, I'd say. Kudelia, on the other hand, I really hope is doing something behind the scenes and not just sitting in her office. Her words give me hope that she's working on something with the economic blocs. And then she thinks, "I love Mikazuki. And not just Mikazuki. Atra-san, too. And everyone in Tekkadan." Ah, btw, looks like McGillis kissed Almiria although off-screen. Edit: Broadcast episodes don't have PV anymore, so will have to wait for Daisuki to see next episode's PV. Six. We still have 6 episodes left and technically in the middle of the cour despite this feeling like the end already. Which means more shocks and surprises! Will our hearts be able to handle it though? Macky should have really had a back up plan, other forces he could rely on. He was indeed foolish in this. I don't agree that he should have thrown away Agnika's legend though since it saved him personally. However, he should have indeed tempered it with practical tactics. It’s actually quite ooc for him to depend so much on others.
However, I'm also glad that he’s learning now and not going nuts at their refusal to acknowledge him. He doesn't throw a tantrum, but instead changes course. Of course that means relying on Tekkadan (man, if they get through this he is going to owe them big) and basically it's going to be the commanding prowess of McGillis and Orga, vs Rustal. PV for next episode.

To me, since we can't really say he's being ooc when it's the original authors (Okada, no less) who write him this way, it's another little something that calls his sanity into question. Also, since he always acts like an impeccable chess master, we end up falling for the image he projects, bu the reality is he isn't quite as genius or impeccable, he, too, is only an imperfect human, and very damaged at that.

Maybe it's because of Lafter, i feel like Atra will die in the battle/war. That said, McGillis i expected more. You even form a private company yet you don't have any personal fighting forces. -_- Still not going to stop me from rooting for Tekkadan to kill Idiok.

So yeah, turns out my statement waaaaay back when Vidar was introduced turned out to be true. McG's biggest blunder is not double-tapping Gali (aka. not making sure beyond doubt that he was deader than dead) before continuing with his plan. And then that biggest blunder came back with a mask & a strong ally (Rustal) and then opened the said mask to reveal his identity and all the skeletons inside McG's closet to the world which made the heads of GJ-families took the neutral path by not assisting anyone in the conflict between the new GJ & Arianrhod much to McG's surprise. It's just one tiny detail, McG. One! Yet you overlooked it and you pay dearly for it. And it ruins Almiria's feelings too. *sigh*
I think the "Bael"-rule plan in itself would've worked if Gali & Rustal did not announce all of McG's crimes to the world.

while I agree that McGillis was shortsighted and need more planning, I don't Exactly fault him for it considering his situation: He was practically leading the revolution by himself from the start, and other 7 star is clearly not going to assist him whether he had Bael or not, they just don't take him seriously - remember, Revolution succeeded mean that old member of GJ losing power, so obviously no member of 7 star are gonna help McGillis, the most he can do is getting something that could forced them into action, which is Bael - now that it fail, if the revolution is succeed, then the remain members of 7 star are gonna be in serious trouble

Well, McGillis is no Lelouch, that we are certain after this episode. He probably got too carried away over the Agnika Kaieru legend and presumed the other Seven Stars patriarchs would fall in line just because. But hey, they won't be billed as heroes if there's no uphill battle ahead of them, right?
And... hopefully Kudelia isn't just sitting around, which I guess not given the screenwriters were practically winking at us with flashes of the Joan of Arc portrait. Given how far away she's from the battlefield, she would probably be first in line to assume the leadership mantle after the inevitable bloodbath come the next few episodes. |

I think everything has about been said. Though the fact McGillis has zero backup plans aside from brute force is so in character, yet so stupid at the same time. Orga more or less score big points for voicing whats on every viewers minds "WTF SRSLY? THATS IT?!?! THAT WAS YOUR ONLY PLAN?!?!?!?"
Aside from Dexter getting surprise character fleshing out of sorts this late on rofl Cant wait to see the new Kimaris in action next week |

I feel so bad for Almiria. All this shit about McGillis is coming to light, and she doesn't truly understand what's going on. All she gets is that he's done some bad things and figured out that his brother's still alive. And with all these emotions running high, she was ready to off herself. Yikes.

Jeezus, No backup plans whatesoever, great one Macky. I guess it demonstrates just how out of touch with reality he really is. Granted, this can all be traced back to his childhood experiences, clinging to the image of a powerful man and the might makes right mentality but, did he really think that people would follow him just because he has Bael? Even more surprising is that it is a an actual rule within Gjallarhorn.
Speaking of Bael, it better have something special because even with 4 Gundams, they're still outnumbered by the Arianrhod fleet. I'm curious about McGillis relationship with Almira, while it's clear he's using her and the Baduin family for his own goals, he seems to genuinely care for her, all that did was to confuse the poor kid who doesn't know whether to follow her heart or her honor, worse still she may just be confusing love for a crush.

Nah, a chuunibyo would relish in his delusion and made-up world, while McG is 99% operating in logic and reality and makes good use of it. But he's not free from making some blunders though considering that his life was already threatened three times in this season alone .

Review here. It's a shame Kudelia removed herself from the love triangle, but it makes sense. And McGillis really should have made sure Gaelio was dead. Now Tekkadan is screwed.
