It seems I was right to be afraid of the way A-1 was handling Magi, they rushed it way too much. They rushed the series so much till they came up with an anime original ending which wouldn't have even necessary if they had proper pacing, an ending which actually goes against established characterization from the manga.
They really don't have an excuse for it, sure you can try to make the argument that it was to advertise the manga, except the manga was already popular before they decided to animate the series, they can't say that the series was just to add in extra money since, the sales for the later Blu Ray/ DVD volumes were abysmal, and because they rushed the series to the point where they created an unnecessary anime original ending so they can't make franchise out of it (without restarting over anyway). And if that's not enough its right at the time when the Fairy Tail anime (which isn't much of cash cow itself) is going on break. So ultimately the adaptation was pointless and they have no else but themselves to blame. |

Wow! Things are getting very interesting.
Well, wars are always a good source of cool anime fights. Alibaba was still pretty much useless due to lack of skills. The only thing that was his advantage was a good surprise attack. He also made the biggest mistake of his life. Hakuryuu proved himself to be selfless. Everyone was fighting their own fight in this war.

Seriously, this is getting ridiculous. I don't know whether that primordial black stuff was around in the manga, but for the love of hell, it has to be the stupidest way of raising the stakes I've ever seen. Sure, Sindria is in the piddle-pipe as a result, but is there no other way of doing it than shoving a random pool of all-conquering black goo at the place?! The black metal vessel users...you've only just introduced them, why should we give a flying gible-wart as to who the hell these lot are and how strong they are? Aside from their appearance you've spent all of two minutes characterising the lot of them, anime - this lot are meant to be pretty damn powerful yet they're here and dead in the space of ten minutes?! Bull-f***ing-s***. I'll finish the series to get it off my to-do list, but it's hit a massive downhill ever since it turned out that Alibaba is about as thick as an asphalt milkshake (and Hakuryuu isn't much brighter) |

So, to summarize for an anime-only viewer who couldn't take any more and finally bailed:
Alibaba: Manga - "Pure white" rukh, strong and adaptable. Anime - Angst-ridden and weak-willed. Aladdin: Manga - Main character. Anime - Who? Morgiana: Manga - Nopan. Anime - Nopan. At least they got that last part right.

What they did to Alibaba was just character assassination at its finest. Quote:
