It was a good episode, but extremely rush in my opinion, I liked the pacing of the preview episodes even if other people didn't like all that build up in them, especially in Kiritsugu case, I would have preferred if they had more details with his fight against Kayneth, like they had when Saber fought Lancer, also yeah Kiritsugu outburst felt kind of outplace, but like someone previously said it was because of the lack of inner thoughts, thought hopefully that scene makes everyone realize just how much he loves his wife and daughter, even over himself.

Yeah...the director stated that a lot of the scenes from this episodes were saved up for the BD release. They wanted to have the episode finishes on that cliffhanger, and it's the best way to keep the tv watchers entertained while keeping the core of the story.

Not only the gore scenes, but the conversation Iri has with both Saber and Kiritsugu were omitted in favour of time. Oh well, at least if you are really interested in the story you can always wait for the BD release. At the moment IMO it's handled sufficiently and in an adequate manner.

Love those special effects Ufotable puts in, just puts every other TV series to shame. To glad they finally use that track from the PV. The battle sequences are really smart and well thought out, and a huge enjoyment every week. And Oh My God those reflections, I wonder how much work Ufotable dedicated into the department to make everything looks fantastic.

I really hope they explore Caster's backstory though, as judging from what i'd known from JdA's story it could turn out to be quite tearful. You just don't turn crazy and demented like that without a massive psychological trauma. The conversation between Caster and Saber hinted a lot at it. With the concept art released for JdA on the magazine I hope my wish would be granted.

It's really nice to see Archbald showing us what he's capable of, and that justifies his decision to have his wife to be the mana supply. Just imagine if both Lancer and him are on the battlefield at the same time, the offensive and defensive power would be quite high tier. No wonder he's so confident coming into this war. Though having said that, I have a feeling that his confidence and pride will hurt him so bad. After all, it's Urobuchi that we are talking about who's doing the script.

and that smirk

Nice episode. Initially I felt like Kiritsugu's outburst was a little out of place too, but then again, one thing that this show is conveying pretty well (unlike the F/SN previous anime) is how much the Holy Grail is serious business to everyone involved. So it might have some realism for a guy who keeps a lot of his emotions within himself to have a rather extreme outburst when one least expects.

I found myself wondering now wether I just keep following the animation or if I should pick up the light novels, I fear I might be missing some interesting tidbits and thought processes, as some people are mentioning.

Some highlights of this episode to me were:

Kayneath invading the Eizbern castle looking for the guy who went all the way to demolish the building he was in... the way Kayneath was keeping his composure and declaring a duel make it clear he was looking for some poetic vengeance against his perpetrator.

Lancer coming to the rescuce. It's thanks to guys like him that chivalry is not dead.

Kiritsugu finally displaying some of his skills as a magi. I immediately started thinking if he didn't have some Pandora's stigma in his crest when the first thing he did was using accell.

And at some point a very cool BGM started to play when Saber was facing Caster in the woods.
Hopefully there will be more uplifting moments with great BGMs. If they can come remotely close to replicate what I feel when listening to Emiya, I will be quite happy. You know something epic happens when that song goes on.

Anyway, great stuff overall, lots of CG scenes in this chapter, like Kayneath's summon/magic whatever it is, but they were nicely done and generally fit the mood of the scenes, so I have no greater problems with that. Other than that probably a few censored scenes as well, like last episode. Good for BD sales I guess.

Hopefully we will get to see a flashback with Jeanne in the next few episodes. Really curious to see her animated.

A rushing episode is surely to cause some problem.
The shift of Kiritsugu's personality is somehow strange for there is no illustration before.
Also the magic of Kayneth needs extra explanation...A little bit disappointed on this.

Why does it needs explanation? He is just manipulating a giant mass of mercury.

This was a good episode even if it was a tad rushed.

Got to see a rise from Kiritsugu emotionally now that his fears are starting to get to him. Hopefully that brings his true emotions to light for some people who had a hard time reading his emotions through his "blank" personality in the previous episodes.

Caster was just as creepy and awesome as in the previous epsiodes, even more so this time. Is there a lot of censoring going no with some of his scenes? If so I can't wait to see them in their full glory.

As for the fight scenes they were entertaining as usual.

Caster and Iskandar continue to be as entertaining as ever, and Saber also managed to be fun as well. However, do they have to explain everything in this show? Whatever happened to just showing the action and letting us decide for ourselves what it is?

The novel was a lot more descriptive about Kayneth and Kiritsugu's magic, as well as the mind games they played. Being in-depth and consistent about the rules and workings of magecraft is a staple in this and the related type-moon works.

But it's not like that is necessary for the story. For an anime, I actually prefer things more fast-paced like this.

There has been plenty indication of Kiritsugu's internal conflict throughout the first 6 episodes, so I'm not quite sure why people are that surprised. Do you guys want internal narration that badly? There is something called show, don't tell. Must they spell out everything about the characters?

In any case, the highlight of the episode is definitely the conflict between Kayneth and Kiritsugu. Loved the mind games and the use of magic, which I'm sure is even more rich and detailed in the LN. Totally pumped for the next episode.

Really liked the Kiritsugu and Iri moments. Nice job by Lancer of showing up in time to team up with Saber. The Archibald vs Kiritsugu fight was pretty awesome as well. Favorite part was the beginning with Waver and Iskander. Lol at his shirt.

Ok, now can anyone tell me why Saber's so god damned weak in the series? It's been twice since she gets her ass kicked in a 1v1 scenario and any interference actually was in her favor. This isn't exactly very respectable for someone that's considered the strongest servant of them all, and Emiya seems to be a perfectly competent mage.

Now, we have issues like Caster obviously having prepared for a trap to prepare a battlefield to his liking, but it doesn't really reflect well on Saber's awareness. I guess she could be holding out her trump card phantasms for later on, but it's pretty silly to do this if she's gonna get owned right now though.

On the other hand, this episode had some great stuff. Caster using the children to bait Saber in and Saber's incredible sense of honor and concern shined throughout the whole episode. Emiya still seems kinda hollow, but it seems that he's spent all the years having this cold exterior to put it all on the line. It's nice that we know Iris and Emiya's place with the world and with others.

Apparently Emiya can stop time and combine it with firearms. Ahh, well, that's a cool and familiar combo.

And once again Alexander steals the show, simply showing off the fact that he doesn't give a shit and will accept deliveries. Poor Waver can't hold his position as a master.

I would rate this episode higher, but the abrupt ending to the episode really hurts. 8/10 for a strong showing.

It was already covered, she can't hold the sword properly due to Gae Buidhe wound.

I'm fairly aware of this, but I'm sure she has a certain other special ability besides invisible air that would help a bit more, and conserving is pointless if she becomes fodder right now.

I don't think "squirm around and hope someone comes along to save me" is a very good plan at all.
