(L) Kaze no Stigma

Haha, I totally thought she was gonna support him but... what a blunder. Now that I've watched it again with a dictionary in hand... seems like she says something like "I'll do it... I'll stop Kazuma". Poor Ayano, that plan is really stupid. She of all people should know that she's no match for him. Well, at least using Ren as collateral is a good start - she knows she has to fight dirty even if that's a bit mean of her .

More importantly, it seems that the trust she had in Kazuma at the beginning of the episode is gone now. Well, Kazuma using her as a decoy to find Misao might have contributed to that. Evil Kazuma. Looks like it'll take a bit longer for them to really come to trust each other.

Oh and justinstrife I would recommend watching Claymore if you are not watching it already. When episode 8 comes out next week (of Claymore) there is going to be a huge explosion on that forum(The strictly anime watchers are going to go crazy)

OFF Topic a little but there has been a ton of Top Animes released this season:

1)Claymore(Top quality on everything.. its literally perfect)
2)Kaze no Stigma(top quality story telling.. animation subpar)
3)Seto no Hanayome(just a great and funny anime.. animation solid)
4)Darker than Black(very intriguing.. good animation)
5)Sola(just very solid overall)
6)Heroic Age(story lagging a little, but its animation quality and story scope is great)
7)Kaibutsu Oujo(interesting, but the animation is only slightly better than KNS)
8)Ookiku Furikabutte(very underated baseball series)
9)Gigantic Formula(standard mech combat fare, but its all really well done)

I am also watching History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi, but I wouldn't consider it a part of the Spring Season since it started months ago.

This has just been a incredible anime season I have never watched so many anime shows at once.. I am starting to fall behind now.

Frankly, time is something I don't have. I work full time, am getting my turbo-charged 240sx licensed, just got my corvette back from the body shop, selling it to my dad, selling my twin-turbo RX-7, buying my friend's supercharged corvette, still owe 10 grand in bills, truck's got a wheel bearing that needs to be replaced, the list goes on and on here. I don't have any free time to go and do normal things. I'm usually burnt out and asleep by 9. I do however, keep tabs on the Kaze no Stigma thread and anime as it's the only show I've seen tibs on, that is worth that 20 minutes of viewing that I have.

Oh how I long for the days when I didn't have bills or a job.

Haha dude, welcome to life? That's how it usually is. If I started to list the things I need to get done by yesterday, we'd still be here tomorrow.

That aside, Claymore is an above-average manga (which started out below average but got better as it went), and the anime adaptation is very tastefully done and has high production values... except during the fight scenes, which are as cheap as the ones in Kaze no Stigma if not cheaper. Can't blame them though, as the original was a bit lacking in that regard. The story is pretty good though. It's still a good pick, so you might wanna keep it on the back burner till there is a lull in your schedule.

Wow I knew she was a bit upset with him but I honestly didn't expect her to attempt something like that. Sure using Ren as a shield is a good start. But after the first fight and the battle against Ryuuya she should know that beating him is crazy. Honestly I hope she's just trying to get him to back off in the Misao matter.

Well trust is a fragile thing I guess. With him continually using her as a decoy, and telling her what to do, she may have been pushed too far. Now I really want to see what's going to happen next week.

First time I see this anime, I thought....Shana? (Ayako somehow looks like Shana at first glance -- minus the big eyes ). Anyway, it was really nice and I'm hooked and I think I'm gonna stick around. Kazuma looks cool whenever he's using his wind powers

From what I can see, it's like Ayano's torn in between her trust in Kazuma, and her responsibility, hence her words of "What do you want me to do...?", with this confusion when she declared to him that she won't let him hinder their plans...

read this line in the novel where Ayano's saying something like, as the next Kannagi clan head, it's her responsiblity to fight against Misao (and that she SHOULD fight her in the name of being a Kannagi), or else she won't be fit for this role, or that the 'significance of her existence' as Kannagi will be lost (from what I understood)

Ayano knows that she's no match for Kazuma, hence her words of "I can only hold him up for 3 minutes"

Well this is what happens when you are working with a minimal understanding of japanese. Frankly I'm amazed I understood as much of what was going on as I did. Glad to see your blog cleared up some of the questions I had about what was going on. Good to see that she hasn't lost her trust in Kazuma, but rather it's a conflict of interests.

Really impressed that she's going to take a shot at going up against Kazuma. But what might be the most impressive and mature is that she understood she could only hold him back for a few minutes. There isn't any bravado that she's going to wipe the floor with him or anything like that.

It must be a tough burden on her this time. She doesn't want to fight him, but she has her duty as the next leader. No doubt it'll be tough that he'll fight against her just to get to Misao. While I can understand that he feels bad for her and perhaps understands her pain, I doubt Ayano can. While she hasn't understood her own feelings seeing her saddened by Kazuma's not noticing, and seeing her as a burden is tough to see. Really from the first episode to now she's already made some real progress in character.

yups...ayano realizes her own weakness if compared to kazuma but she earned a bit of my respect to even try to hold him off for at least three minutes for the oogami to finish their job against misao, kirika even said "don't die" which i take it kazuma wil not go easy on her (and then comes the part when she said "don't worry, i have ren" ...i think i'm not wrong in assuming she's gonna use him as a meatshield there )
btw...i just realized, kirika is hot

but somehow...i'm very afraid the next episode will be very predictable
kazuma swatted ayano aside, the oogami failed miserably against misao, and it all comes to kazuma (again )
i'm hoping against hope i'm wrong, perhaps usagijen or guppy could clear this up ?

haha yea i can just see her grabbing ren and throwing him in front of what ever wind bast kazuma tries to create ~ she then proceeds to stab kazuma but totally forgets about his wind barrier >_<

Maybe Kazuma and Ayano duel it off and then Kazuma seeing how much Ayano has matured last time, will show her some respect. I then hope they will team up again and save the day..That way at least we can see Kazuma and Ayano develop a closer relationship..... Right now i just feel Kazuma doesn't even respect Ayano..

i don't know about respect but he definitely cares for ayano.....well sort of anyway
like when he saved ayano after being mortally wounded by ryuuya he keeps taunting ayano and when she finally snapped he said "that's the way to do it" *referring to how to control fire spirits..which is by anger* and after they fought against the demon fuuga summoned, he said "besides, if i take care of everyting, you'll be a failure/loser for the rest of your life"
well.....not romantically "care" yet anyway

hmmm....seeing the pattern , i highly suspect kazuma of enjoying to see other people snapped (or at least that's how he prefers to solve things anyway )

Nah. I want to see her get her butt kicked, then Kazuma save the day again, and her realizing there's more than just being the head of her clan.

The clan hasn't done much good the past few hundred years, it needs a new direction.

I can't really blame Ayano for her reasoning on this one. Misao has done something horrible just for the sake of revenge. While obviously if she posed a real threat of killing Kazuma she'd jump in whether she had good family reasoning. Sure I can understand why Kazuma wants to help Misao, but she doesn't have access to that. For all she knows he just likes her and that's it. She really hasn't lost anyone important to her (I'm guessing, is her mother just hiding somewhere?). Closest she's come to death is when she nearly died.

Really uncertain what will happen. I think she'll do alright, and using Ren might help. He'll either be a meat shield, or she'll have him use his 'cute attack' against Kazuma which might buy some time. She'll either lose or Misao will go out of control forcing them to team up to stop her.

Kazuma really has a weird hobby of setting people off. Ayano just makes it so easy that he probably can't resist it. It's strange how Kazuma let her fight so her confidence would grow, but spends a lot of time telling her she'll be a burden or in the way. It might just be that she gets upset easily, which is good for a decoy. But we can see its really bothering her that he sees her that way which can't be good.

I thought Kazuma's lines in the beginning of episode 5 were awesome. When he makes his sexual comment towards Misao; most viewers are led to think that's he's a jerk for asking Misao to perform sexual favors for compensation. But Kazuma knew what Oogami's real intentions were so he simply played along.

This is a good show. The animation is funky but the concept of the anime works. Oh, and Ayano's chasing scene was hilarious. She was looking in trash cans and climbing poles to find Kazuma. She later had her brother join in the pointless activities. =P

Actually, I felt like giving Kazuma some slapping (with his much more cold treatment of Ayano shown in the novel =___=). On the other hand, Ayano's maturity was clearly depicted in the novel, as she's thinking about the difference between Misao's family and hers (in which she's very much fortunate) *I felt like giving Ayano a hug* *gyuu* :3

I don't feel as negatively about Ayano in the novel version, but I think those parts that are being omitted, are the reason why I don't like her in the anime. If they had shown these other parts of her from the novel, in the anime, I'd be able to like her better. As for Kazuma being cold to her in the novels, he's got his own reasons. She can't possibly know the hardships others have gone through, as things have always gone her way.

It's true that the Ayano in the novels in comparison to the anime version is a lot more likable. I'm just glad we have the summaries to turn to in order to find a fuller experience. Since they are the same person I'm just using the novel version to add to her in the anime.

Certainly in episode 5 Ayano really led a humorous chase for Kazuma. It was seeing them look in garbge cans, climb up poles. Completely ridiculous that they would hope to find him that way but still funny in its own way. Oh and Ren isn't Ayano's brother. He's Kazuma's and they are just cousins.

Spoiler for Cold Kazuma:

I agree that Ayano can't understand fully what others who have suffered greatly are feeling. I wouldn't say things lately have been going her way that much. She nearly gets killed, the guy she likes seems to be more interested in every other female around. Yeah the last one isn't the same as if her father was assassinated, but for a teenager she's clearly upset by it. Not enough obviosuly for her to understand, but it's enough for me to feel sorry for what's been going on.

It's understandable why Kazuma is doing all that for Misao. He can understand that pain and suffering. But I think he's wrong on this, just because he was involved in her brothers death and just because she lost her brother doesn't make revenge right. All those people who died so she could get power didn't deserve it. Before with the knife I could pity her, the assassination squad somewhat less, but after what she's done the pity goes out the door. Kazuma shouldn't be giving Ayano the cold shoulder in this case. But he does have his issues so I can understand why he did it, even if I don't like that he did it.
