So why didn't Naruto just tell the benchwarmer brigade that if all of them fought sasuke together they would still die and that's why only Naruto can deal with him.
I'm sad Naruto didn't visit Tsunade before she woke up and give her some kind of good vibes to help her along the way. Last edited by Jerseykid; 2011-07-07 at 19:58. |

Well to be honest, I didn't mind that light-hearted contest between Kakashi and Gai, and it was much appreciated to give a lot more atmosphere to Kakashi's nomination to Hokage, even if he didn't end up getting it.
It also feels like we're very close to the manga, even though they're obviously trying to pad the episodes with extras. Which probably means they'll have to insert a filler arc somewhere.

What a great episode. It took me back to the early days of naruto's younger days when things were still childish and not all so serious and structured. I also agree with "JerseyKid" about why naruto didnt tell the gang they would end up dead if they faced sasuke. Truthfully they would just be in the way as naruto and sasuke are on completely different levels.
Also its nice to see Tsunade back in action, saved Kakashi from his impending service haha. The animators did a good job of the race, it was funny and kakashi is a dirty cheat xD!

Lots of things I liked about this episode. Starting from the general idea of Guy challening Kakashi after hearing he would be the new Hokage, which could easily pass for canon. Then the details, like the scene where Guy gives Kakashi the flowers and sincerely congratulates him for his new rank, which I thought was great. Or Sakura that has now stopped getting angry at everything Naruto says and does, and is now obediently sticking by his side as they walk around the town. For once, the added scenes seemed to have been thought out and added something to the episode. And of course the episode was pretty funny, with the way the beginning and the end of the episode were set up and the race across the village that had some hilarious scenes.
The only thing I didn't like was the scene with the sculptor taking Kakashi's measures, which looked out of place and unnecessary. Otherwise, solid episode. |

The animation and art style during that race reminded me of Naruto vs Pein. Anyways, I liked this episode. It's nice to see Kakashi actually take Gai's challenge seriously for a change instead of blowing him off completely as usual. Cant say I cared for any of Naruto's scenes, but Kakashi's more than made up for it.

I also wonder how many secret underground tunnels/hideouts/lairs/etc. were buried or exposed due to "bowl-ification" of Konoha? |

Nothing to do with that actually, very different caliber of animators were involved. But interestingly Atsushi Wakabayashi, the guy who was director and animation director for that awesome Pain vs Kyuubi Naruto episode did direction and animation direction for the new ED.
