I thought Tsutomu Mizushima and Michiko Yokote would be working on the Shirobako movie at this point. It's gonna take years for that movie to even start pre-production if the two key staff members are fucking around elsewhere.
That being said, I'm still excited about this. I think Mizushima and Yokote has some pretty good synergy and I'm really looking forward to see what they're gonna come up with for this show.

I think it's fairly easy to tell what their aims are when their promotional poster is a cute girl in an unrealistically cute outfit in front of what looks like an all cute girl cast. Trust me, I'd love to be proven wrong but it just screams "derivative and forgettable". Though to be fair, I see that in practically everything these days. XP

The most depressing thing about this announcement is that it shows even the creators with big-time resumes (and these two certainly qualify) seemingly no longer have the pull to do anything else. If you want to get an anime funded these days, this is pretty much the only route the production committees will approve. Very, very sad.

I actually couldn't tell that it was a CG anime from the thumbnail.
Well, it's been a while since we've had an actual girls-in-planes anime (no, dragons don't count as planes for this discussion), and it looks like Mizushima's bringing his attention to detail from GuP to this.

Oh fuck, it's all CGI. Damn, I'm not a CGI hater but the truth is it only looks good in very specific cases like Houseki no Kuni. Generally it just makes the character look weird and doll-like.
I'll try to keep an open mind, at least until we get a longer PV or something. But this is slightly disappointing already.
