Hmm... retribution for not joining the Euro?
In the Netherlands (and rest of Euro country) the Wii is going to be €249*, which equals: ~2250 SEK ~167.5 GBP ~331 USD** *) Includes something like 19% VAT **) Normal US list price of $249 does not include VAT I'm still leaning towards getting a US one though, as everything (games, Wii points) will be much cheaper even still, plus I can get the US GC games that were not released in Europe (not sure how many of those there are actually). The deciding factor will be if the US Wii can output RGB, which apparently the US GC couldn't. Hardware analysis of the Wii components looks hopeful though. |

only if you had a console with the digital a/v. As for the Wii, we have to wait for the official RGB scart cable for the Pal consoles and copy/figure out the pins for the signals. To keep up to date, me recommend to visit nfg wiki and their forum, as soon the scart cable is out on sale. Hope there will be a vga mod as well ^^ As for myself, i probably will end up with a jpn model (and pal one if no freeloader/region mod thing is going to be available, which is pretty hard to say since it appears that the region lock is tied to the firmware unlike the cube) |

#1 I'm impatient #2 I have money to spend XD Also, VC prices, besides certain games, are technically cheaper than US VC prices due to conversion rates. I checked my bank account the other day and saw that I was charged $17.33 for 2000 Wii points on the JP site. Also, all those MegaDrive games are 200 points cheaper. Its yummy. So until they come out with a Freeloader for the Wii, I'll be happy playing my JP games before a lot of people out there. When it does come out, my brother or fiancee can have the other one. ^^

ds lite games roughly cost the same as Wii games.
DS lite are by advanced portable dedicated gaming device standards, the toughest of the lot, and the one with the longest gaming battery life, with no moving parts at all, and with a native protective design, you can't go wrong with the ds lite. As for the wii, well, if your undsure, my advice, get it later I still play my ds lite, almost every day, well worth the money.

Not where I live. There are a number of games like Advance Wars and Animal Crossing that get close to the price tag of Wii games ($49.99 CDN compared to the $59.99 price tag of Wii games). But there a still even more games like Elite Beat Agents, Cooking Mama and Yoshi's Island DS which cost much less, from around a $24.99 price tag (the lower end where Cooking Mama falls in) to around a $34.99 price tag (where EBA and Yoshi's Island falls in).
Agreed, well worth the money. I feel kind of stupid buying a PSP even after I got a DS... I haven't touched my PSP in months... >_> |

I really enjoy the console myself, I picked up the Wii, 2 wiimotes, 1 nunchuck, zelda, and monkey ball on the 19th here in Michigan, USA. Wii Sports is a fantastic game to play with others (or by yourself if you like to try to improve your playing abilities). Zelda, I think, is absolutely fantastic, it starts bit slow, but if you really utilize your equipment and special attacks (That you learn throughout the game) you can really play the game so-much-better than you could with an analog stick setup (considering the gamecube version will be using the same control scheme as The Wind Waker).
Wii Sports : A- (a few more options for single player would have made the game even better, although the training games for single player are pretty good) Zelda - TP : A (a few super-minor issues, but nothing that would detract from the game itself, IMHO) SMB BB : C+ (read below) I will admit to being strongly disappointed in Super Monkey Ball : Banana Blitz, however. They ruined the good minigames (monkey target, monkey bowling and it's crazy lanes), added a lot of sub-par to poor ones (a few of the new ones, like monkey darts and monkey wars, are rather good, I'll concede), but I just CANNOT get used to tilting the wii-mote for the single player campaign. And the menu interface is very troublesome as well. I really enjoyed the 2 SMB games on my gamecube, so I expected a similar level of quality at least. Anyways, if you enjoyed the previous SMB games and was looking forward to this one, I'd suggest a rental first. Btw, I will state that Zelda : Twilight Princess is one of the best games I've played in MANY years, and that anyone who buys the gamecube version simply because of the control scheme or "it was made for gamecube" excuses are really losing out. Btw, if you can't get/afford a Wii, that's another issue altogether that I won't blame you for. |
