Gotta say, I really like that Agumon evolving to Greymon did not use a canned stock animation but rather was fully integrated into the fight with Algomon (Adult). Wonder if that was just for this episode for the action flow or if they really have done away with stock transformation animations.

Well, pros and cons to that first episode. The evolution was pretty dynamic as was the action. A good feel to it that let Tai and Agumon/Greymon both feel part of it. So in that sense it went pretty well and they are going at this their own way.
On the downside there were some elements I wasn't sure about. The digital space does have a digital feel to it. But can't say I didn't like the Adventure aspect of the original series. Being dropped in a world that in some ways looked familiar and in other ways bizarre. Plus it's less sure what direction they want to take the story. Are we going to just be popping back and forth between the real and digital worlds? Just dropping in there to fight dangerous digimon and then back to reality? Is the camping trip just going to be a minor plot point that they do and come back to keep fighting? Oh well. Next week...we're going to do the War Game movie apparently .

Ok reboot, not sure I'll keep following. I do hope they change the opening and ending, the rest of the eight (aside from Koushiro) seem more like cameos so far. Well, Taichi and Yamato were always the main ones (with Koushiro as tech support) but still. Bit early for them to be foreshadowing Wargreymon but then looks like they're already fighting Diablomon next. Well, Xros Wars already threw levels out anyway.

However that doesn't mean they haven't based the next episode on Our War Game, the episode is even called "War Game". |

The heavy focus of the opening and ending on Taichi and Yamato is by far the biggest concern I have of the reboot so far. Last thing I want is turning this into the Taichi and Yamato show. Besides that it's an interesting first episode, loving the different approach to the story and visually it looks great.

I got a kick out of Izzy having a tablet now instead of a regular laptop.
Also, I really like the implication that Matt has been dealing with this longer than the others. It's a better set up for the loner attitude than what he had in the original. |
