Aquarion EVOL - generic discussion thread

Just wondering, did they change the ED animation sequence in this episode and included Jin in it? Since the ED was changed for Yunoha and Shrade, I'm wondering if they'll also include Jin now in the lineup now that we've had an episode centered around him.

i am very suprised by zessica's behavior. she is full out ignore mode atm. don't want to dwell on her feelings or come in between amata and mikono. nor tease them. i think mix will confront her next episode as runs off again.

Don't think it's even that - when I said details, it's more like the arrangement of them and their presence, but I never implied that they were one and the same. It's more like looking at a view, then drawing it. Then later you make a different drawing of the same view that's done better. The sizes of certain details should point to that, ex. the lines coming out of that wall hatch is thinner on EVOL, and that large disc on the wall is larger. Plus, the proportions of the structure on the EVOL shot is completely different from the Sousei version.

So it's hardly some "modest edits" to the model.

Watched the episode - yakk deculture indeed! :DDD Btw the preview seals it, Jin is an otaku. XD Rare white bloomers! WHAT. XDDD Btw, he is in fact an Akino otaku. Rewatching an earlier episode, his line about invisible doors (mienai door, mirai no door ... sekai no hate ni tondeiku) was awfully out of place, so I looked it up - it's from 'Chance to Shine', the opening of Oban Star Racers. :DDD

This episode made me actually laugh out loud numerous times - Jin totally misunderstanding everything and being in awe and fear of women was priceless. XDDD Oh Jin, why so cute. And of course Sazanka figured everything important out at first sight. XD

Cayenne is apparently a sort of older brother figure for the guys - it was sort of cute how he went and showed Jin around apparently without having been asked to. He really has to work on his manners, though... XDDD And finally we got to see some siscon!Cayenne. XD "ARE YOU FOOLING AROUND WITH HER, HUH?!"

The Jin & Yunoha romance(?) was ridiculously cute, with Jin being totally at loss of how to behave around her, and Yunoha being way too shy. But hats off to the writing staff - the developments weren't forced or unnatural at all. Except for the digging holes part (Berlin is not there anymore, guys, WHY DON'T YOU JUST WALK OVER FFS XD) but that's so absurd it doesn't count. XD

By the way, I thought Yunoha's backstory was really well-done. Her timidness causing her to alienate herself from people, and now her efforts at reintroducing herself into the circle. It's nice to see her getting more and more self-confident, as her conversation with Amata & Mikono shows.

Also, the plot thickens. Whooo.

Vega is Alisia's "holy land" - her birthplace?

The "true Eve" will be either Zessica or Mikono - duh, we've known that already, but the preview focuses on Zessica being, ahem, glamorous. Hum.

Actually, it was the same for Mikono when Zessica was in the spotlight. So it's probably not an actual characterization thing, more like the writers ignoring the love triangle aspect for the moment, and not doing a very good job at it. (Don't worry, going by the preview the next episode will have Zessica interacting with Amata. :P)

Btw, I'm very impressed with Kaji Yuuki's ability to sound almost identical to Ishida Akira. In this episode, when Amata said "are da yo, are" off-screen, for a moment I actually thought it was Ishida Akira. Same in the stripper episode, where Amata's line about Andy having stayed up all night also sounded totally like Ishida. No wonder they chose him to replace Ishida in Berserk...

Jin was so damn adorable.

Cayenne was so cool and manly. He's 2nd only to Kagura on my sexy list. XD

We saw Andy's 6 packs.

Zess was awesome as always.



And the preview. It seems like Kagura is going to turn against Altea next week. I cannot wait.

As funny as this is, doesn't seem that Jin potentially defecting to Vega is a huge plot development. It's really not fun and games -- he's seemingly their last hope (though why him and not his slightly-older subordinates? that's a mystery...) -- and the reaction on Altair will be bad. I could see Altair taking it as essentially a declaration of war.

Yunoha's going to be interesting now, I'm pretty sure. With the character design she has she's pretty much relinquished to "pure love or no love" (acquisition of racy photos of Amata notwithstanding), so if the Jin-Yunoha thing goes anywhere we might see what Aquarion has to say about such things.

I haven't done serious CGI since the mid 90s so maybe things have changed , but just eyeballing it it looks like the differences you're pointing out are easily explained as (1) a change of camera position (it's moved into the scene a bit and angled up a bit more) and (2) thinning out some of the decorative elements (like the railings, which're thinner than before, but look about the same width due to the closer camera position).

After a careful look I'm thinking that it's at least possible that in the original they used 3D models for the basic scene geometry but hand-drew and hand-colored the actual background. In particular the scene from the original has what appear to be some very minor perspective gaffes near the top of the staircase. The apparent lack of the same kind of minor gaffes in the shot from EVOL makes me think they've gotten to where they're able to make direct use the model renderings with only minor touch-up.

I don't know, if it was her birthplace I think they'd just call it that. Holy Land makes me think the land that she loved and treasured (i.e. held sacred), similar to Halo's Librarian and Earth. (If you get the reference.) Then again, it makes sense for her to be from Vega and be worshiped as a goddess for managing to survive the warp.

Previews troll. (There's a lot of no-eye shots from the preview, one for Zessica (who's focusing in on her lips as she drinks? (Maybe more Jin antics? Though I'd rather him focus on Yunoha.)) and one for Amata because...?)

That said, I don't think it's quite the same here as it was with Mikono as she continued to interact with Amata and Zessica in those episode, in this and the last, she's seemingly ignored them. Who knows.

Yes, it's Cayenne's vision. It's not Aquarion and it's really an abductors mecha, since we can compare these mecha, it really is RADIUS GNIS and in his hand is a girl whose silhouette looks like Yunoha(2nd pic).

I fiddled a little with the image and yes - I couldn't see it in the video or the screenshot because it was too dark, but you're right, there is a silhouette in its right hand, and it does look like Yunoha (or Mikono I suppose, but but Mikono is already connected to Aquarion so it must be Yunoha). Whoa. And yeah, it must be Jin's mech (that may or may not symbolize Jin himself), Cayenne has already made the connection.

I don't really think he's necessarily their last hope... I feel that he's just being given special treatment as he happens to be the last born person of the world. It carries an emotional significance, I'd say.
