This simple quote is gut-wrenchingly sad, in a very special sort of way. It's even worse when you're re-watching the series and you know the quote is inevitable.

^ahhhh, the infamous "mind-rape". The reason I included these lines was because I don't think any anime has ever been able to capture the insecurity and natural weakness of man as well as EVA, and this line is a shining example of that.

From Around chapter 340 or so, Ippo has been challenged for the Japanese Faetherweight belt by his former kouhai Hammer Nao/Yamada/Geromichi . Hammer remarks to his former senpei, Ippo, that he is glad that Ippo taught him boxing, and from Ippo's teachings he will now take Ippo's title. Ippo, replies:

"I never taught [you] how to take the belt."

A great response from a great series.

If we're talking about the same Nanaka, it probably would make her sad because a lot of people thought she would do something similar, what with School Days just ending before Myself; Yourself began.
