Right, so.... I've just downloaded DOA5-LR-CF because sod it, it's free and I can live with just learning Hayabusa and Kasumi anyway.
Unlike Guilty Gear I never really had a history with DOA beyond doujins and fanfics, so how does I play the gamu?

Step 1) Choose a character you like, go into their command training. Repeat the process a few times to really memorize their moves and strings. Step 2) Find a youtube combo video for the character. Understand their bread and butter combos. Practice them. Step 3) Go more in depth into their frame data. Learn what's safe/etc. Step 4) Practice with real matches.

I think I got my my new main character besides Jahn Lee and Ayane.
Honoka is pretty easy to use and her moves are awesome! It's like the best moves of all the DOA characters put into one character. Hell there are even hints that she's Raido's daughter.

i usually main Helena, but now, i'm playing quite a lot of other characters too.
i like playing as Tina. for some reason, the AI just can't read me when i'm playing as her; i just go nuts with the kicks and high punching attacks. and some grappling moves here and there. also, Tina was my first character to beat on the hardest difficult in arcade mode (continue about 3 times...lol. them AI were going wild and kick my ass). i also play around with Marie Rose (she's sooo adorable ), and some Momiji. Helena was my first one to beaten those challenge mode. i'm never good with all the buttons pressing and comboing, but somehow i manage to do it with her. guess i'm getting better with some practice. i get some practice done by playing some VS matches with the CPU on the hard difficulty. just practicing some combos and the stunning attack which lead into their special move. after awhile, you get use to the combos and the game become more easy to play. i gotten the ps4 version of this game. i'm liking the improvement in graphic (a little better than ps3) and the loading time. their skins looking more smoother than ever and the constant nice frame rate. everything looking fine and dandy...except that $93 season pass. holy macro, i'm not even going to buy that pass. *walks away*

I just bought the game used for 30 bucks for the PS4. Usually the used prices are 10 bucks higher than on Xbone, so I had to use that opportunity. Looking forward to the game. I played the Ultimate edition at a friend's house the other day and liked it a lot. I'm not that big into fighting games, usually because my execution sucks and I don't have the motivation to improve on it, but DOA5 seems easier to pickup and learn than say SF4.

So the game came out on steam, anyone else tried it around here ? I'm freaking loving it, DOA was and is my favorite fighting game series but since a consoles in general weren't very accessible for me i didn't get to play the series as much as i want to, i wanted a PC port for ages XD.
Started out with xbox360 pad then moved to an arcade stick and i ended up using the keyboard lol. It was the best for me, managed to finish with it legendary, though it took a bit to my surprise my skills are better with it then anything else.

^Sorry, can't help you there.
But anyway, I got the game today, played through the story, did some time attack and some survival. I've had a lot of fun and scuccess with Phase 4 so far. Mila, Momiji and Eliot are also pretty good. It took me a while to figure out how Power Blows work exactly, but I got it down eventually. Now Power Launchers seem like they might be even more powerful, depending on the character, but I don't trust myself with combos well enough at this point, so I'll try to prioritzie Power Blows for now. But yeah, the game is a lot of fun. I like the trinity of blows, throws and holds. Although I think it's a bit of a shame that holds are split between four different situational holds. Having to anticipate where attacks are coming from is rather difficult and kind of discourages the use of holds. And then you have to anticipate whether it's going to be a kick or a punch if it's coming from the front, though that part is less difficult. I'll definitely do some more offline practice in the coming days. but I'm definitely not ready for online just yet.
