Those supersonic bombers sure are fast. But not as fast as the pacing!
It really is a testament to how long it's been- I've completely forgotten that this was the point in the story where they started the ball rolling again with two main themes- Kamijou's memories and what Imagine Breaker really is. Heck I even forgotten that Accelerator took part in the siege of Avignon. My personal small tidbit that I really like, is that La Persona Superiore a Dio (The One Above God), can also be written as "Kamijou (神上)".

Remind me how he was able to survive napalm but not concrete? I only remember that scene was to emphasize how ridiculously strong Aqua was. It seems the napalm strike was even more sudden than the concrete falling yet he was able to block the napalm in time.

Also, I realize that for all intent and purpose it's not much different, but I want explain the 'Earth Blade" because it's such a cool idea. It's not Napalm but iron sand rotating via magnetism (Something like what Misaka does, wouldn't surprise me if that's where they got the idea from) at extreme velocity being attached to the underside of a hypersonic jet. Hence the name 'Earth Blade' because it's literally use to carve up the Earth.

This was a better episode overall, packed with action and finally! Accelerator, I really missed his VA, walking through the flames like nothing happens, classic. Also, goodbye terra.
As for the technical stuff, the animation and CG are pretty damn bad, I don't know if they are squeezing the budget or what but the quality is even lower than the first 2 seasons. |

Welp, can't say I'm not disappointed. I wanted them to drag it out longer so that we'll have 4 episodes per volume so that it can fit right into 24 episodes, then 3 episodes for SS2 for a total of 27 episodes with the final arc airing in a different cour still labelled as "Index III", but now it's clear that they're going to adapt everything, maybe aside from SS2, within 27 episodes.
Oh well, I hope they at least improve the animation in the upcoming fight scenes. The animation for the fight this episode was pretty average, with some scenes like the Earth Blade scene and the pillar scene not appearing as fast as they should. Seriously, the supersonic bombers, I can somewhat let go, but that scene with Acqua looked dumb as hell. They failed to show off just how fast Acqua's attack was supposed to be. Now I'm worried about the fight scenes involving him.

...Okay. Shit animation aside and useless monologues ahoy... Why is Mikoto so angry? Also, why is she in the shower when they go over her having overheard Touma and Terra?
In the LN she's distraught and can't move out of pure shock, not angry and punching the wall imagining it's Touma's face for not telling her. And she's not fucking naked. why is she so angry all the time in this anime why is there so much fanservice

You guys just don't want to admit he has a great ass. Who wouldn't want a giant sword-wielding brit in your Rear--
I have to wonder if the shoddy first episodes are because the budget went to episodes further down the line or if we can expect more of the atrocious pacing (though I have to wonder if it's the pacing or the directing itself that bothers me).

Heh, GG Terra. That was an entertaining episode and I gotta give Itsuwa credit for not giving up.
I'm also glad they adapted the scene with Accelerator standing in the flames. Always wanted to see that even if was just for the moment.

As much as I love my Itsuwa, I absolutely hate how much the anime just skimmed over Academy City's invasion of Avignon its repercussions. They condensed three chapters of the book into one rushed mess.
I'm starting to understand how Shakugan no Shana fans felt about their season 3.

mmm Terra wasn't ripped in half with the pillar? Fucking I hope they delivered in the next arc.
Well, a reminder that all this people of the magic side if they aren't a Saint or versed in combat hand to hand job to 1 or 2 punches. The power of Terra seems cool in paper but is pretty shit in practice. In battle with others magicians works well I bet. |
