No Guns Life

Quote:
Japanese retailer HMV is listing the April issue of Shueisha's Ultra Jump magazine with the cover revealing that Tasuku Karasuma's No Guns Life manga will receive a television anime adaptation by Madhouse (Boogiepop and Others, Overlord). The issue will ship on Tuesday.
Plot Summary
After the war, there are many "Extends" in the city, people whose bodies were modified to make them into dangerous weapons. Inui Juuzou is one of them, and he has no memories of his life and body before his head was transformed into a gun. Strangely enough, his head-gun is designed so that only someone behind him can pull the trigger. Juuzou makes a living by taking on cases involving Extends in the city, and he is assisted by Mary, an intelligent young woman that he has taken under his protection.

Apparently the series main channel will be TBS. It reminds me a bit of Megalo Box.

Hideo Kojima is a fan of the series: https://natalie.mu/comic/pp/nogunslife01/page/4 <----eng version

──I'm sure they'll be using it (CG) for certain segments, but the show will also be using backgrounds that were created in the Unreal Engine, which is a game development engine. That's probably a first for anime, I'm told.

Kojima - I see. So something that was used in the gaming industry is now being used at anime studios. The Unreal Engine is capable of putting out almost complete video in real time, so it should cut a lot of time off the process. Not too long ago, a lot of places used the Unreal Engine to do tests for video just before it was sent off to final rendering.
Interesting.

Yoshiaki Kawajiri will also be involved in making storyboarding for several episodes of the anime.

This was really cool.

We got Juuzo, a dude wearing a trench coat and having a gun as a head. He makes a living taking care of problems in the city and honestly, I wouldn't mess with someone like him. The fictional world of this show also looks pretty interesting. It looks realistic and there's social problems that needs to be solved, especially someone like Juuzo.

I love the animation quality by Madhouse. Looks fluid and this also has some catchy OST/theme songs.

Very impressed from what I see here!

Was the animation good? I saw people complaining about it in other forums.

And I saw a news on a site that the anime will have two cour, with the second part debuting in April, you confirm?

Wow so we got hardboiled tsundere revolver. I don't think I seen this before

Also Jinzo have to have not just steel head but also lungs, there is no way he wouldn't have cancer otherwise. It was perfect first episode in every possible way (including animation). I might drop it though as I do with many animes that make me instantly pick manga...

That was a pretty nice first episode. I like Juuzo a lot already.

I'm not sure about the 2 cour part but the animation looks fluid and pretty consistent.

Enjoyed this a lot as well. MC is fun and love the neo-noir atmosphere and dystopian-like setting.

I really enjoyed it. Juuzo is so far a nice mature protagonist that also has a softer/comedic side to him.

I was a bit skeptical when I saw the original description for this series, but now I'm a firm believer that this could be one of the best animes this season. It has that old school feeling, and it reminds me a bit of Battle Angel Alita, Appleseed, and Ghost in the Shell in a cyper-punk way. The story seems solid, and the animation is fine. This is definitely a keeper.

It's also nice to know that this will have 12 episodes this season, and with its split cours, it will have another 12 episodes starting in April of 2020. 24 episodes it really nice for series that looks like it will be really, really good.
