That was a really good episode, the adaptation is being great up to this point, obviously it doesn't include all the things that happened in the LN but the pacing and the way how the studio is managing this is great.
The entire episode was pure fun. One thing that reminds me that this is coming from Oreimo's author was Yamada and Masamune's scenes, good interactions between them and sometimes better than what happens with Sagiri but anyone can see how is this story going to develop, there is a reason why this is Oreimo V2. Oh we got LOTS of fanservice even if they literally nerfed Elf, yeah she has little boobs, she's not 100% flat. Spoiler for fanservice:

That was an interesting episode. I wondered if they will adapt that part with Megumi inviting her whole class and they did it. Back then when reading the light novel I really laughed at that scene. The interaction between Masamune and Elf really give you the vibes of Oreimo, well it's the same author after all. Elf and some of her expression like the moment when she blushed was really cute.
I don't think it's really an issue for debate who Masamune is going to end up with. Whoever knows Tsukasa Fushimi and his two stories I think he makes it's obvious who the heroine is in his stories.

OK Elf is WEIRD. I've been wondering if she went and had cosmetic surgery on her ears. I've yet to hear about a single person with elf ears that weren't made like that by a surgeon. But aside from that she's a little too obsessed with sex. For that matter, EVERY girl is obsessed with sex and nakedness, at least every girl younger than the hero. His sister loves to draw girls in erotic ways, her classmate openly declares she loves penises (and insists that all 12-year-old girls love them too), and the famous author next door to him loves to play the piano butt naked in front of an open window while thinking up scenarios too erotic to be taken seriously. I mean seriously, have your main heroine appear naked in her first appearance, and then shove in a "tradition" that says she has to give her virginity to the man who saw her? For crying out loud, you can find better excuses in REAL erotic light novels. And then she insults him by insisting that you shouldn't even bother unless/until you're crazy motivated, even if this means being a "pro" but doing absolutely nothing for weeks on end.
On a side note, I'm starting to wonder whether this's supposed on some level to be a little bit of a commentary on the light novel business. I mean, there are a heck of a lot of light novels out there that seem more focused on the fan service than on creating something truly riveting. I don't mean to say that a heavy-service series can't be riveting, but honestly, sometimes it seems like the biggest factor in which series sells best and which series gets animated is how many breasts there are per volume. |

After 3 episodes, I'm calling quit.
Honestly, Eromanga-sensei just shows the usual issues I had with the author behind Oreimo, but kinda worse in general. Whereas Kirino was basically the boiling point in my case in Oreimo, EMS barely has any sympathetic character whatsoever. It doesn't help that Masamune is plainly a caricature of a siscon chararacter without much backbone whatsoever, while Sagiri is just unreasonable and selfish. Obviously, the setting and its characters shouldn't be taken seriously whatsoever, but it is exactly because of such point that it is even harder to enjoy the show when the characters themselves are either morons, jerks or oblivious pricks.

Well I guess I'm a dissenting opinion here since I for one really like Sagiri. She's just adorable IMHO. That said, the angle on that one shot where she was hugging him in fear... made it look like her face was someplace I don't think it was, a place it most definitely should not have been.

Sagari is cute-looking, but she's got nothing else. And yes, that panty shot angle with the brother in front was probably done on purpose. lol
Not really relevant, but it feels weird how just three episodes in is already 1/4 of the series. 1/4 is a lot of time gone by considering almost nothing has happened in Eromanga sensei so far. It really puts anime in perspective. |

You guys are judging this way too seriously, I'm not defending Eromanga sensei but you have to keep in mind who is the author of this and what was his previous work.
Oreimo is nowhere near to be a good story and EMS is the apology for all the wrong things in Oreimo, which btw doesn't make it good. |

And that's exactly the reason why not taking the series seriously is worse in my case: characters acting like this solely "just because" instead of having any particular reason or justification make the enjoyment borderline inexistent.
I'm not even taking the series seriously and it is annoying because it just cannot be enjoyable with its overused tropes and template characters: since I forgo any sound reason for this mess to happen, I expect at least just some brainless fluff and whatnot, which is actually not the case due to the characters exaggerated flaws in my books, that is. If I were to judge it from the author trackrecord, I wouldn't even touch it with a ten feet pole, but that's a bit presumptious to say the least, hence the 3 episodes rule in my case. And suffice to say, I'm not masochistic enough to be frustrated for 1 cour with the same kind of shenanigans.

Personally I find this show to be ridiculously fun. I'm watching this like how I watch shows like Kill la Kill or TTGL, which are over-the-top with quick pacing tied together by great production values. Except instead of flashy action and crazy sakuga, this show gives everyone an explosive, colorful personality and throws them together in exaggerated interactions and rapid dialogue. There is rarely a slow moment and little introspective scenes - most cuts are driven by characters talking to each other, or talking to themselves while something crazy is happening (not that I actually counted, but even if that's not true, projecting that feeling also says something in itself).
I can see how it can be a turn-off for people looking for something different, maybe something more deep, maybe something more sane or logical, not sure, but I enjoy it for what it is. If we look past the zaniness, I find some of the commentary on the state of the industry and its fans to be fairly interesting too. And the argument about motivation vs work isn't entirely off-base (or maybe it was a really, really indirect jab at people like Togashi? )

Fact of the matter is Eromanga sensei does not impose itself as a fast comedy or gag comedy. If you call this fast, what exactly do you call slow? It looks like the only appeals this show could have are the sistercon stuff or tsundere stuff. |

For a story of this setting, I think the behaviors of the characters and the situations they get themselves into are pretty over-the-top. I mean, I can feel a similar kind of thing in Konosuba (which is even more wild) for instance, but since that show has an obviously fantastic setting and is a gag comedy, that kind of boisterousness is expected and is not difficult to suspend your disbelief for. Whereas this show has a normal setting, with a realistic-looking environment (backdrop always drawn in full detail), establishes a concrete background, but then characters like Elf or Megumi show up and play the piano naked or pronounce that every 12yo girl loves the D. That's where I think some people can find the show jarring, though I can be wrong of course. My impressions may also very well change as more episodes air.

Anyway, to answer your question, going down the list from the most recent somewhat-comparable anime, Kobayashi feels slower, as does Demi-chan, Girlish Number, Stella, Konobi, etc. etc., simply based on gut feeling. Quote:
