For those who might want a few other renders to choose from, here are a few things I lifted off Minitokyo.

Enjoy.

I have a couple more from the same series, although most of those are of maids.
The first one definitely fits the theme. The second one looks like a ecchi version of a female business suite. I personally don't think it fits the theme. Or atleast not with what i had in mind, and neither does it with in with what i and solace has come to a agreement about, if we understood each other correct. But i'll let Solace have the last word on that one.

It's as i confirmed in the PM, if you think it matches in than it's ok Solace

Purpose: Service, cleaning. The maid outfit is almost a uniform in that everyone has a pretty clear concept of what the outfit should look like.
Someone said that they saw formal/elegant as something one would wear to a formal occasion, such as:
a ball, a wedding, a religious event, or anything of the like. I don't really see a maid outfit as befitting any of these events, unless you'd consider Halloween "formal."
I agree about the maid part

We have come to a agreement about the theme. So far i will only say: refrain yourself from using a male render. Solace or i will post the details about the slightly modified theme names. The idea remained the same as the picture posted as examples.

Oh sorry about the confusion!

If I find more images to share, I'll show them to you first just to be certain.

So you are quite busy. Well, the same applies to me, but I see if I can do something about it.

@theme,

quite tricky... formal/elegant is quite a matter of everyone's personal POV.

Don't worry about it. I appreciate the effort. And i could be wrong in this case to. In any case i would like to give Solace the last word on this.

I'll ask Solace to announce the theme and sum up what we talked about. I'm less confident about me doing it right this time, so i'll let Solace announce it to avoid confusion

Ok, first off we're gonna change the theme a little bit. We're dropping the "formal" tag because it seems to be creating some confusion.

So the new theme is going to be Dresscode: Female: Elegant/Ceremonial. I'll PM a mod and ask for the thread title to be changed to reflect this, and Sephi is going to make a new banner as well.

The ground rules are basically going to be summed up as follows:

We want girls dressed pretty. But we want the clothing to be elegant, flowing, something you don't wear everyday.

So a maid uniform? No. Military uniform? No. Business suit? No. School uniforms? No.

We want ballroom dresses. Wedding gowns. Yukatas. Shrine gowns. Lace. Frilly things. Royalty clothing. Fancy stuff. If you want examples, check out Renegade334's post or the first image of Daniel E.'s post on this page. Sephi has posted examples as well, you can find them linked under the banner in the first post of this thread.

This doesn't mean that more modern clothing isn't allowed. We're not strictly saying that you can only have old style clothing. What we are saying is that the clothing has to be something that a girl would wear for a special occasion, and that the clothing must be flattering to the female form (without the ecchi aspect, we already had that contest).

If the clothing is mundane, something you might see used commonly, then it isn't what we want for this contest.

What we don't care about, is the setting of the image. It could be Clare in a wedding dress cleaving a Yoma in two. We don't care, as long as she looks elegantly dressed doing it.

Hope that clarifies things a bit. If not, ask away, and I'll attempt to clear up any confusion.

Rozen's doll clothing.. Are they considered elegant? They exudes elegance to me.. but then again, thats their daily clothes.. I dont think normal humans would wear them in normal occasions anyway

They fit in the theme. It's sort of similar to the first pic Daniel_E posted. Or atleast sort of based on clothing from the same time area.

So yes. And you could always take a look at the example picture posted to. The fifth from the second row is sort of similar to those cloth.

I hope Solace manage to clear most uncertainties up about this theme.
Looking forward to everyone pretty entries.

Mmm i hope it is clear with the pictures and Solace post.
And no secret weapon or anything. I haven't even started with picking renders or given it some thought. Been busy with projects and trying to finish them before the deadline.

I sense an air of ambiguity on this contest. It is pretty hard when you hit stuff on the borderline.

So I might as well try and clear mine up before I get too attached to my borderline render: Its from ef, really cute shot(see spoiler) but i'm not sure. Its lacy and sorta frilly, but then again it could be a run of the mill sundresses or sorts along those lines. A quick Yea or Nea from the higer ups?
Spoiler for render:

Thumbs up

To me is very clear now...

A good question to make before choose one screen is:

About the clothes she is wearing. She can use it in any normal situation? (work, sleep, school, home)

If the answer is yes, is better search for other screen.

@Ayame: Using this method. For you I think the answer is Yes.

Looks like I squeak one out. I had a kimono backup, might still use it, but I needed to make sure that I would have a few options.

Oh wow so many entries already...
I don't know if I'll be entering this one... I have absolutely no idea of what or who I'm going to do.
I guess I'll search around and see if I come across anything I like.

It looks very elegant and ceremonial (quite New Yearish). But I have to say the girl at the bottom seems a bit awkward (head decapitated), as usual just my opinion. But I like the text, the background and the outfits.
