It's licensed by ADV. The first one that is.
Or so says this site: http://ho.ho.net/kakyuusei/ova.html |

Yeah, Kakyuusei is licensed and at least one of the animated versions was hentai (the game(s) were as well if you look at that link ChibiDusk kindly provided).
I'm getting Lunar's sub of ep 1 right now, but I can't find ANY info on Kakyuusei 2. I tried AnimeNFO, ANN... maybe I should try AniDB.

Maybe watching the earlier anime is needed to understand Kakyuusei 2, because after watching the just released episode I came away with the impression that the viewer should have already been familiar with the characters and story. But lacking that info, the first episode seemed cryptic and a bit boring.

There are THREE older anime with the title of "Kakyuusei or Kakyusei" (spelled either way). The oldest Kakyuusei anime from 1995 is unrelated to the later two Kakyuusei anime from 1997-1998 and 1999. Here they are in the order of their release. The easiest way to tell them apart is by examining the girls school uniforms: 1. Kakyuusei OVA (4 episodes)(1995) http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/ency...me.php?id=2392 The girl's school uniforms are orangish-red and white with light green trim. 2. Elf version Kakyuusei OVA (4 episodes)(1997-1998) http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/ency...me.php?id=2393 The girl's school uniforms are mostly dark red with dark blue trim. 3. Kakyuusei TV series (13 + 1 bonus episode)(1999) http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/ency...ime.php?id=179 The girl's school uniforms are mostly dark red with dark blue trim. The first two episodes of the Kakyusei OVA (1995) were released in English under the title of "First Loves" by SoftCel on VHS. The third and fourth episodes were NEVER released into English. The story of this Kakyuusei anime was not based off a game. The Elf version Kakyuusei OVA (4 episodes)(1997-1998) and the Kakyuusei TV series (13 + 1 bonus episode)(1999) were based off an Elf company ren'ai (romantic love) game called "Kakyuusei". Kakyuusei is one of the most popular ren'ai games of all time. With the Kakyuusei 2 TV series just coming out (based off the Kakyuusei 2 game), there are now FOUR Kakyuusei anime series total. And please nobody quote the mixed up AnimeNfo's "Kakyuusei" entry because it's all screwed up and wrong. I've given them information to correct it six or seven times and they still don't do anything. >_< |

Well, I watched the LunarAnime sub, and I love it already. I'm looking forward to Anime-Faith's and Miyuki-no-Tamari's sub of the prequel (they are subbing the prequel to THIS Kakyuusei right?)
I agree with tanuki... I'm a bit lost from the get-go here, but I have no doubt the holes will fill themselves later on. I'm already liking Ryouma and Tamaki, and the brown haired clarinet player, also the guy who likes to fish and his buddy. I'm having a hard time figuring out who the main character is, or perhaps they share time equally since there's many girls, and... 4 guys. Well, I look forward to the next episodes, now I'm occupied for autumn with this, Mai HiME, Akitate Ja-pan... and hopefully many more. (I have no life outside of anime, can you tell?)

Intro song is "18"...
Ending song is "Koi no Uta"... Both have been available for awhile ripped from the game... I'm not translating KKS, though it's gonna be one of my favorites this season. I might post some screen shots later to show the nice animation ^_^. |

quite good animation quality, I'd say so far (for ep1) it's one of the few game-to-anime conversion that the quality of the character graphics doesn't degrade much... the story seems to be somewhat different from the game... one minor complaint is that they use the OPs of the game as the anime OP and ED, which is somewhat strange for an anime IMO I'll surely keep checking this up to see how it turns out

I might be wrong since I played only about an hour of Kakyuusei 2 (the game) and Kakyuusei 1 on Saturn a long long time ago. But to my understanding Kakyuusei 1 and 2 hold no relationships. I believe you don't need to watch Kakyuusei 1 first since the roles are totally different. Feel free to correct me though if that's not the case. Too busy to look up more information myself.
Episode 1 has been confusing for me since it started out different from the game. Maybe I should hurry up my progress with the game so I can understand more of the anime. |

Too bad the animation for the anime isn't as high quality as the stuff they have in the game. After visiting elf's page i guess my hopes were a little too high. Background music is also kind of lacking. I'll stick with it a little longer though in hopes that the story picks up...

I just watched the first episode of this show. I think my thoughts can be summed up like this....
The animation was decent, and the characters looked pretty. Uhh... that's about it. Maybe cause I missed the first season or whatever, but I found this just boring as watching paint dry. Well maybe not that bad, only cause the characters did look pretty. Still gonna give it a chance and watch a couple more episodes. Hopefully it picks up cause I think there is a good story in there... somewhere... just crying out... |

Does anyone know if any of the first Kakyuusei game characters make a cameo appearance in the Kakyuusei 2 game (and hence may have a cameo in the anime as well)? |
