Just came across the news Kishimoto will be taking over writing duties starting next chapter. They claim it was planned that way from the start, but I doubt it. It's not like Kishimoto knew Samurai 8 would totally tank, and I don't think he could have written two series at the same time. So it feels more like Kodachi got the boot.

On the one hand, it doesn't surprise me. The series has been really bad.
That said, I not only don't trust Kishimoto to save the series given where it is and the foundation that's been laid, but I expect him to ruin the one good thing going for it (Salada). |

Considering Isshiki wants to feed Momoshiki to the divine tree, I'd say him siding with Isshiki is out of the question. Isshiki is also a lot stronger than him, so it's in his best interest to get rid of him now.

I guess this is Kishimoto's way of putting a stop to the "why don't Naruto and Sasuke just..." arguments. Naruto would be left in a severely weakened state after the stunt he pulled two chapters ago and Sasuke has now lost almost half his arsenal.
