Hmmm, looks like Sky Girls may have given this property a lift if that is the case

Just remember, Strike Witches arrived "first" so I get to slap the first poster that whines this show is a ripoff of Sky Girls.

Yes, more loli mecha action goodness next year. I was worried everything was going back to pre Winter 2006 levels after this year, but in just the past week there have been like 10 announcements on shows that I'd like to watch.

Actually, it came in "second". You're forgetting the Sky Girls OVA.

The real question would be more like "which one was announced first? I believe Strike Witches was. However it took forever for the very short OAV to come out (I think the SW site itself appeared in the January 2006 if not earlier)

HELL. YES.

I mean, I loved Sky Girls, but when I saw concept stuff for Strike Witches back a long time ago and found out there was only a 7-minute OAV I was kinda bummed... Sky Girls got the nod for an anime over SW at the time. It was nice, but not as nice as SW could be.

I heard about the anime last night and searched here to make sure I wasn't being BS-ed.

I CANNOT wait for this!

Strike Witches Official Website: TV Anime Cast Voice Quiz

Strike Witches Television Animation Series Cast

On March 11, 2008, the Strike Witches official website officially confirmed that the same five voice actresses play the same five characters in the TV anime series, slated to start airing in Summer 2008, that they played in the OVA / promotional video, released on January 1, 2007.

Character : Voice Actor (Seiyuu)
Miyafuji Yoshika : Fukuen Misato
Sakamoto Mio : Chiba Saeko
Lynette Bishop : Nazuka Kaori
Perrine-H. Clostermann : Sawashiro Miyuki
Minna-Dietlinde Wilcke : Tanaka Rie

On April 10, 2008, the Strike Witches official website officially announced six voice actresses who play six remaining characters. But it did not announce who they play.

Character

Gertrud Barkhorn
Francesca Lucchini

Sanya V. Litvyak
Eila Ilmatar Juutilainen

Voice Actor (Seiyuu)
Kadowaki Mai

Can you guess which voice actress plays which character?

I added the six additional cast members to the Strike Witches (TV) entry in the Anime News Network Encyclopedia.

Another batch of good VA's I see. There's just too many to expect this coming months. And this is certainly one in my list

I'm a sucker for the cute and loli, but the fact it's World War II-themed just totally seals the deal for me.

You know at first I really didn't make any connection to this and Sky girls...but now I see it...it's the head and tail addons

And looking at the seiyuu selection...I see another must watch

(Hopefully it does better than Sky girls for me).

You didn't like Sky Girls?

I thought it was pretty good. Not great, but definitely solid.

I would have liked it more if it wasn't so "boring" and repetitive. It was yet another series which I expecting something that didn't come about ie. not enough explosions
