Synopsis:

In a parallel universe, the Demon Lord Satan planned to conquer his native world. He was thwarted when a Hero from one of the villages he was attacking arose, taking the fight back to him. Satan vowed to return as he escaped with one of his minions, his general Alciel.

The pair were then warped into Shibuya, Japan. Broke and having to adjust to humanity, they began working and living. Satan — now Maou Sadao — works part-time at a fast-food joint and Alciel — Shiro Ashiya — is trying hard to find a way to regain their magic. Maou and his colleague, Chiho Sasaki, work as the cashiers at their workplace, and are greatly admired.

Maou's past is starting to catch up with him, however. The Hero who confronted Satan, Emilia Justina, has followed him to Earth and sought him out, but she may not be the greatest threat Maou will have to face in this new world...

Hataraku Maou-sama! is a Light Novel series written by Satoshi Wagahara and illustrated by Oniku. It has two separate manga adaptations and an anime which aired as part of the Spring 2013 Anime lineup.

As of creation this thread, there are 8 volumes of the LN and 15 chapters of the non-High School spin off adaptation of the manga released in Japan.

I'm currently only up to Vol.6 (still reading) myself, and I must say things are getting really interesting.

In other news, BakaTsuki has already started translating Vol.1.

Hmmmm...i am impressed that the light novel can be expanded to volume 8. So, is the story, comedy remain strong after volume 2?

It does, the Light Novel is on the teaser page. Two chapters are being translated right now, some changes is present in the anime, but still a great read. They have all the illustrations out on all volumes. Volume 3 is looking like my favorite to read.

Feel like something is missing, usually moments when you see two main characters of the opposite gender sleeping in the same bed and there seems to be a large empty space then there should be a baby. Should have edge them closer together.

The Hero and the Demon Lord gets a "child". This "child" is actually a being of a higher level, born from a fragment. Due to a similar fragment in the Hero's sword, she calls the Hero "Mommy", and due to a past encounter, she calls the "Demon Lord" "Daddy".

And... you can kinda guess what happens when a baby finds out Mommy and Daddy don't get along?

The Hero was eventually known to be the actual bringer of Doom. This is because she is a cross-breed, between an angel and a human. As we do know, unless species are very similar, there is actually no way to reproduce. However, reproduction occured, so does it mean angels, or even Gods, are humans? If so, the divinity of the angel race is threatened, thus the angels/God is taking actions!

Spoiler for Chiho:

Despite the Hero and Maou having all sorts of interactions, Chiho never gives up. Also, she is one of the few humans to know of their secrets, better yet, accepts the Maou despite the Maou he is! She provides great human support, so much so Maou's lackey even asked if she would like to consider moving with them to the other realm should the day come, and be one of the leaders for the Demon race!!

Spoiler for Child:

Volume 3. Very cute, illustrations and behavior wise.

Later, when mommy is losing, being the same fragment that her sword uses, she then decides to become one with the sword to empower mommy up... Causing great grief for daddy who vowed to take care of her...Only to their surprise, the "empowerment" is actually the baby EATING the sword itself, and thus took its place. Living inside of the Hero, and coming out as and when they want to.

As to whether "good" or "bad", it is really hard to say, like other novels, the line between good and evil is not that clear. As the peaceful Maou you see, he too is fighting for the peace of the Demon Race, as he has a painful childhood.

Spoiler for baka:

He might have encountered the Hero's Mother when he was young, and was in fact taught by her to feel and live. Which may be the reason why he is so emotional and humane in many ways. That may also be the reason that led to him striving to be Maou, to create a better Demon World. Can you blame him?

Of course, he blamed himself for getting carried away and losing something precious to him... Thus he vows never to lose sight of it again.

Her name in English, according to one of the novel illustrations, is Alas=Ramus
