Character designer to be announced next issue, apparently. Should be interesting to see an original Fukui interpretation of Gundam though.

I'm also a fan of "cameos" or "tie-ins" as long as it's not souless (Like the Dom Trio or Hyaku Shiki 2.0 in GSD)...As long as you don't drop it on my head like an anvil and there is some believability and//or coherency about it I'm fine with it...I agree a horn is a bit much for first impressions (I really can't deny that), but there's no reason for me to lose any faith in what the story and animation can potentially bring...It's been soooooooo long since a UC series has seemed imminent so like you I wouldn't mind seeing some traditional things or "cameos" from certain characters we love (ZOMG factor not discounted), so don't let any nazi's change your opinion...

I don't know how anyone gets EVA-01 or Virtual on Marz, the damn thing looks nothing like them unless you actually try to force a comparisson and squint at it.
The earlier comparisson with Katoki's Wild Wuergar would be far more realistic, throw in a touch of R-Blade and Alt Eisen to boot. |

Given the word that the MSes is designed by Katoki, I'm hoping to see some other Katoki-designed MSes of the same UC period (given that this is sometime on or after the the Gryps War), like the Zeta Pluses and the FAZZ in the novel. Animated form would be nothing short of awesome.

The horn looks damn ugly but if they have a good reason for it being there it´s fine with me.
(It´s better looking than the moustache Gundam and in that picture it does look kind of grim too. Perhaps it´s one of those designs that will grow on you the more you see it...)

That head (especially the eye visor) slightly reminds me of FMP! TSR's M9E-006 Gernsback (Mao custom)...
Anyway, it's a frigging large antenna...could it be an electronic warfare system or a periscope-like device like the Longbow radar on the AH64D Apache? At least I hope it won't be used to impale other MSes... Also, from Gunota: "This month's Gundam Ace revealed the very brief info regarding Harutoshi Fukui's Gundam novel. Title: Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn Author: Harutoshi Fukui Supervisor: Shinichiro Inoue Mecha Designer: Hajime Katoki The story takes place in the Universal Century timeline. The next issue will have details on the characters." http://aeug.blogspot.com/2006_10_01_...69803107080709

I can't believe none of you got the "White Unicorn" reference.
I haven't seen this series and can't tell for sure, but the Unicorn, and the all-white color of "The White Mobile Suit" immediately rang bells with me. Or anyone who's been a longtime observer of UC Gundam. Or if you're seen that Gundam Evolve episode with two Custom Zeta Gundams--one of which is codenamed "White Unicorn", as well. There's only one pilot in the Earth Federal Forces (pre-F91/Victory) who's ever used the Unicorn as his personal symbol. Here's a hint: http://www.childofmecha.com/catalog/...SheetPre00.jpg Now I'm not saying it's HIM, but it might be likely a 'bridging' story between Z/ZZ Gundam and Char's Counterattack.

*Sighs*
He's not the only one. That frequently overshadowed man used the unicorn insignia as well. It's the return of Johnny freaking Ridden, who's out to prove he can defy death just as well as Char can. XPXPXPXPXP

That said, it could be him--seeing as a lot of ex-Zion troops escaped by feigning Federation credentials and later joining the AEUG, so...
