I was actually curious about this. They said in Railgun S only Accel could do it. So why is Gensei trying? Why does he think it'll work?

Also, this explains why Mitori said there's still hope.

This uses the darkness inside Mikoto to make the demon awakening happen.

Maybe when they made those calculations there wasn't a Misaka Network working and online for them to guess what effect it could have on Mikoto. After all, isn't the level upper network based on the Misaka Network? So the idea they may level up an esper with similar powers who connect to it isn't that fa fetched.

This is an interesting twist I wasn't expected. I wonder what new feats Misaka is capable of in this form.

My guess for Touma's involvement is he will keep DeMisaka contained while the rest of the girls figure out a way to stop Exterior.

Is it possible that it was actually Dolly who became demon awakened? In that picture Zaarael just posted, Mikoto is still wearing her uniform...

No, the clothes match Mikoto's PE uniform if you look closer at the wrinkles and details, so it's definitely her.

And Dolly died for real in that Misaki's flashback, the scientists said so UNDER MIND-CONTROL.
The person in this spoilers is the Misaka Sister #10032, she is wearing a hospital clothing, which does not matches the demon's outfit.


Also some people mentioned Mikoto might not be a complete demon.
Her right eye is white and her left eye is black.
She has those demon horns, but also angelic ribbon around her (as I mentioned before)
So she is like half / half, I guess Touma is going to preach her back to normal.

About Misaka's Awakened form:
I think a natural Awakening will give an esper a somewhat angelic form while a forced one will give a fallen angel (in other words a demon) form but anything is possible with Kamachi.
