Will you watch this show with your eyes closed then? Because Ayasa is smoking hot. I'd say she's the more balanced of the cast in fact.

Oh I read that wong. I though he just said "Kanae Itou" not "Kanae Itou's Character". The former would be sacrilegious. The latter is indeed A+++.

"Balanced". Yes I agree, there's definitely a lot of balance to her plot.

Oh, I'm not going to even pretend to know what we're talking about here, but we're good.

Kanata-chan is so cute! <3
Watching that girl getting her confidence and love for beach-volleyball back is reason enough to watch this series. <3

i'm obviously watching this for some reasons, but i can't help but feel that hanebado is better than this in all respects.

I was really looking forward to this show before because of Plot, but I wholeheartedly agree with you (Nagisa FTW). The manga is good (harukana receive) so I hope they continue the quality at least.

Well, I feel the opposite, maybe because I know where Hanebado is heading and never liked, but maybe is my low tolerance to certain amount of drama.

This's all the doctor prescribed to me. We are few and we know each other a lot.

I'll wait for the doujins.

Show full of crazy, bitchy people with terrible sportsmanship; vs this show full of friendly people who treat each other with respect and consideration.

Yeah, no, I'll stick with this one, thanks.

Word. There's enough drama in the real world, so I like my entertainment to be more relaxing.

i've read all the translated manga and there really isn't that much drama though. like maybe when they get into ayano's past or something, what's happening with Nagisa really isn't that high of a degree of drama.

it's definitely arguable that targeting a player who has never played with full strength serves is worse sportsmanship than anything that has happened in hanebado.

The translation only goes up to chapter 12 but there are 65 chapters published as of now.

That has nothing to do with sportsmanship. Narumi just wanted to spark Kanata. Haruka just got caught up in the middle.

That said, I think this series is just more entertaining than Hanebado because Haruka is a pleasing character to follow. Nagisa on the other hand is not particularly likeable.

No, Narumi also felt the need to "teach" Haruka a lesson about aces. My first impressions were Narumi's got a stick up her ass. If I'm just comparing the first episodes of both shows, they both had me eye rolling at certain character antics.

Before Kanata showed up she was ready to chase Haruka away. Also note Narumi's partner knew the whole deal was about Kanata.

We need to know what's the deal between Narumi and Kanata before we can make any conclusions about her.

I don't think you can remotely argue that. Honestly it's hard to even argue it's in the same realm much less worse than what happened in Hanebado. Going all out like that isn't necessarily nice, but that's all it is. Quietly winning the match. Hanebado even in the first episode has extended abusive 'training' sessions combined with extensive verbal abuse. Throw in Nagisa abusing the power imbalance of being the team captain and that was nothing short of beating up on someone to relieve stress.

At least Narumi wasn't visibly rushing her shots when Haruka wasn't ready or berating her inbetween shots. She even established a win condition for the other side of a single point and didn't have the first serve. If she didn't take it seriously, especially near the end their side would have lost. It was a match where the goal for both sides was to win. Not training where the goal should only be to improve.
