Hopeful Chant, translation by google translate:
In this 100-page novel, Mr. Kawahara's own hand draws a story that was never told in "Theater version Sword Art Online - Ordinal Scale -".
People who have already appreciated the "theater version" also said that after reading this novel, if you look at "the movie version" you can enjoy even more.
"Hero" who led the death game to the clear Clearly the act of Kirito is spoken, and what is the "promise" of a boy and a girl exchanged in secret? People who want to know the story that was not revealed in "theatrical version SAO", please bring your feet to the theater as soon as possible

just saw the movie, and it was in sub, not dub (so yay? )

overall, it was really enjoyable to watch, if you are a fan of SAO, you will definitely like it.
On the other hand, If you hasn't been fond of SAO, then this movie will probably not change your mind

Spoiler for some light spoiler:

As far as I know, all screenings of the movie so far have been in sub.
Dubs, most likely, will come only later. Not that I care much, since I prefer subs

It was tough with the subs since I was sitting in the second most front row. So my entire vision was covered with the subs rofl.

I loved that Asuna got a lot more focus and screentime, but

Spoiler:

BUT THE FREAKIN AUDIENCE at my showing...some were making loud remarks and many were laughing at some extremely inappropriate parts of the movie. I like the passion and excitement of anime fans...but goddamn. It's like when a fuckin anime movie gets shown, all movie theater etiquette gets thrown out the window. I will never forgive them when the whole audience started laughing at

That's so saddening. It ruins a cinema experience and makes one prefer to watch it at home, alone or with close friends who know better how to behave.

I....had the completely opposite reaction to that.
The viewers at my screening did the same, but I don't get why you'd think it was so bad. It was in fact a bit silly how
Spoiler:
I definitely didn't get any feelings of inappropriate reaction from anybody.

I just didn't have the same reaction you guys are having to that. I love how everybody was laughing and cheering throughout the movie (not every second or minute of the movie of course), like how everybody went "OH SH*T" (they didn't actually say those exact words of course) when
Spoiler:
This is exactly the kind of movie experience I love, and precisely what I look forward to so much when I go see a movie.

I can ALMOST understand how that scene can be interpreted as silly "cos anime amirite," but still. It was painfully obvious what the intentional mood was supposed to be for that scene, and the audience laughed throughout the entire thing. They didn't stop at all.

The only redeeming moment of the rowdy and obnoxious crowd at my showing was

now I know my theatre wasn't the only one

Perhaps the scene did look so silly that people laughed, despite all the emotional implications

Rumours say that there is a chance that the movie is English dubbed (by artists of the English version), but it would be a great time later, must not lose hope lol.

ohhh snap. If I get to watch it again with a possibly smaller audience (and hopefully less noisy), then I'm up to watch it again. I'm hoping it comes back to my local theater.

I was watching it with a couple and they told me that they do that all the time when kirito fell on Asuna's chest and didn't find the scene funny at all but found it normal. So I'm glad to see that part is actually realistic. Though a bunch of other people did laugh in the theater but I don't care about them. So many cute scenes between kirito and Asuna though. Kyaaa

Fantastic animation and the action was awesome. yuki kajiura's music on the loud speakers was amazing as well. Sayaka kanda singed pretty well as expected of a singer. The plot was good enough for a two hour film and the final boss fight was simply epic. Nice to see at the end with confirmation of alicization, the best and longest arc of SAO. Though I expected it when aniplex said that they would adapt all of monogatari and Sao. I am hoping for a really long airing.

Spoiler for Kirito's sword:

Post by ZeHaffen:
I'd bet the movie's final boss was the intended final boss given a normal release for the game. I mean, if the game's creator came up to you and said "yeah, I myself will be the final boss, so don't bother making one" I think a lot of questions would be raised.
If Heathcliff wasn't post-Floor 100 boss then he probably just reworked it right before release to remove the intended boss and replace it with himself.
