overall, it was really enjoyable to watch, if you are a fan of SAO, you will definitely like it.
On the other hand, If you hasn't been fond of SAO, then this movie will probably not change your mind

It was tough with the subs since I was sitting in the second most front row. So my entire vision was covered with the subs rofl.

I loved that Asuna got a lot more focus and screentime, but

BUT THE FREAKIN AUDIENCE at my showing...some were making loud remarks and many were laughing at some extremely inappropriate parts of the movie. I like the passion and excitement of anime fans...but goddamn. It's like when a fuckin anime movie gets shown, all movie theater etiquette gets thrown out the window. I will never forgive them when the whole audience started laughing at

The viewers at my screening did the same, but I don't get why you'd think it was so bad. It was in fact a bit silly how

I can ALMOST understand how that scene can be interpreted as silly "cos anime amirite," but still. It was painfully obvious what the intentional mood was supposed to be for that scene, and the audience laughed throughout the entire thing. They didn't stop at all.

The only redeeming moment of the rowdy and obnoxious crowd at my showing was

Rumours say that there is a chance that the movie is English dubbed (by artists of the English version), but it would be a great time later, must not lose hope lol.

I was watching it with a couple and they told me that they do that all the time when kirito fell on Asuna's chest and didn't find the scene funny at all but found it normal. So I'm glad to see that part is actually realistic. Though a bunch of other people did laugh in the theater but I don't care about them. So many cute scenes between kirito and Asuna though. Kyaaa

Fantastic animation and the action was awesome. yuki kajiura's music on the loud speakers was amazing as well. Sayaka kanda singed pretty well as expected of a singer. The plot was good enough for a two hour film and the final boss fight was simply epic. Nice to see at the end with confirmation of alicization, the best and longest arc of SAO. Though I expected it when aniplex said that they would adapt all of monogatari and Sao. I am hoping for a really long airing.

I'd bet the movie's final boss was the intended final boss given a normal release for the game. I mean, if the game's creator came up to you and said "yeah, I myself will be the final boss, so don't bother making one" I think a lot of questions would be raised.
If Heathcliff wasn't post-Floor 100 boss then he probably just reworked it right before release to remove the intended boss and replace it with himself.

Spoiler: And even better it wasn't all about OP Kirito owning everything and stealing all the action spotlight. Okay so there was some of that too at the very end, but the floor 100 boss fight was all about the whole raid party and KiritoxAsuna combat coupling. And yes, Alicization is all but confirmed. One question (sort of) though, Spoiler: in Asuna's bath scene in the original uncensored version, they showed more than her head, right? __________________

I loved that Asuna got a lot more focus and screentime, but Spoiler: I felt that she was still thrust in the inevitable situation where she has to be "saved" by Kirito once again near the end BUT THE FREAKIN AUDIENCE at my showing...some were making loud remarks and many were laughing at some extremely inappropriate parts of the movie. I like the passion and excitement of anime fans...but goddamn. It's like when a fuckin anime movie gets shown, all movie theater etiquette gets thrown out the window. I will never forgive them when the whole audience started laughing at Spoiler: the part when Kirito hugs Asuna and falls on her chest after reading her diary. It was a very emotional moment completely ruined by childish laughter.

And then when Yui came and gave everyone their OG costumes and equipment. And then when every character from every SAO season came out of nowhere to fight the final boss. That was a fantastic moment of crowd reaction and excitement. But that's it.

Regarding Kirito's sword: Spoiler for Kirito's sword: I think the last sword was Durandal, a legendary sword from The Song of Roland. It's said that Durandal is unbreakable and it makes its wielder unkillable and all powerful. Seems to fit with the idea of being rank 1 in Ordinal Scale. Also, Durandal is handed down by an archangel, and An Incarnate of the Radius looked like an angelic being. It was probably Durandal. Durandal is unbreakable and can destroy anything. The wielder of Durandal is nigh-invincible and all powerful. It is bestowed by an archangel to a hero. It is said however, that the one that wields Durandal is cursed to one day die in battle... In ancient mythology, Durandal is the most powerful sword in existence, even more so than other legendary swords like Excalibur and the Kusunagi No Tsurugi. Durandal is French, it means Endurer in English. Durandal is unbreakable and bestows upon its wielder god-like powers.
