Altho I guess people in western culture, people will always find it somewhat hard to get their heads around it, I still do even tho I've it countless times.

But not to say I don't like it, it can be rather amusing at times but I think it would be a good chance for some nice melodrama/drama here
I never said the "school idol" character was new to me, but that it's unrealistic for westerners. It's also not something that would be used seriously for conflict, so I really hope that Koyuki's status won't be blamed as a cause for whatever romantic tension that might occur between her and Toru.

It's actually a pretty popular source of conflict in school manga. Here's one that would soon fit the situation of Iris Zero to a tee:

Sure it's unrealistic for westerners, but the manga industry does not care for westerners and their customs. Mangakas draw for Japanese readers only, as it's the major audience by a long shot, and that's all they would consider. It just so happens that there are enough westerners out there who care about their most mainstream series that it justifies the cost to localize and ship.

Being sharped has drawbacks hm? I guess he doesn't need to have an iris to get by because it made him sharp from experience and his observational skills is superb.

I dont think so, beside what may happen is that, while Koyuki (zettai ryouiki mode) is still sorting her feelings out, it might see somebody from Toru's Past or I think that crazy girl from earlier will be coming back, but she will be like Toru now.

Not going to happen, because laser eyes don't enable the user to "see" anything different.

I can imagine psychological thrillers and mindgames, but not actual action battles.

Never say never, believe me it might happen. But this series would be good under that new stupid law.

it's not zero possibility. The manga is still new. Give it time to build up some chapters. Maybe if it shows some good popularity the magazines will try to keep it going.

I like how the main character Toru is a very sharp person with no special powers. This type of the guys are very realistic and someone you can admire just from reading the manga. Makes you feel better than reading a useless protagonist with passive egos. What I like more is his determination to continue his "minimal exposure" no matter what happens. This make him cooler than a regular lead.

Compared to some other selected series from the same magazine (Monthly Comic Alive):
- Zero no Tsukaima (breasts, hormones, abusive harem)
- MM! (masochism)
- Kampfer (gender bender)
- Maria Holic (lesbian harem around a crossdresser)
- Asobi ni Ikuyo (massive breasts)
- Mayo Chiki (abusive harem)

Yeah, Iris Zero seems very tame (just what we want!). Great fit under the Tokyo legislation though, as mentioned.

Yeah, but all those manga you mentioned are originally based from a light novel, unlike Iris Zero, which may changes things. But despite that, I think the chances of this getting an anime isn't that bad. There's only 2-3 volumes available now though, we still have to wait for a long time for this to happen.

Also we will have to wait to see what direction is this manga is going, besides there has been alot of good series that started out great but it started to get crappy. Iris Zero has that promise to be a awesome series.

I find myself liking this quite a lot, despite the absurdly cliché setting. The artwork is cute and the manga is not over the top or obscene. Hopefully this will get to run for at least five volumes or so.

I'd prefer if a more decent setting like Iris Zero getting anime. I don't like these ecchi anime based on LN. They're too much for me. I don't want to criticize Japanese taste but they should get decent LN series animated more than these ones.

And heck, I won't let any female abuse me like those pathetic protagonists! Isn't reality actually opposite? I once dream of equality between both genders but now no more due to the fear that this crap will happen. And to think that these series aim at male audience. Japanese guys must be Maso!

The last chapter was amazing,Koyuki blushing was too cute.
I must admit I'm curious to see how the story will continue.
