Watched some horror sequels the other night.
Saw Paranormal Activity 2 again. Very good sequel, but it definitely lacks the subtle horror the original had. Still, there are one or two great moments. 75/100. Also managed to get a hold of [REC]2 finally. Loved the first film, and the second definitely has some great moments, but the whole story behind the "zombies" is just too convoluted to be interesting. Still, can't wait for the final film, supposedly to be set in a post-apocalyptic world (or is that going to be the 4th film ). 70/100. Both movies were very good sequels. They were indpendent stories from the first film, while at the same time helping to answer various questions left over from the first film. I wish more sequels were as good as these two films... |

Watched Monsters vs Aliens. A lot of very funny elements, voice acting, sci-fi homage, gags (both verbal and sight), and excellent animation (e.g. BOB) ... that didn't *quite* gel together as a movie.
As a Netflix rental, it was a good time.... however, I'm glad I didn't pay 3-d theater prices to see it.

i watched Pandorum yesterday and it was pretty cool. the setting and events were similar to Dead space which i thought was neat. i also watched I am Number 4 which was pretty bad... it felt like there were trying to follow the twilight way of making movies which was pretty painful to behold...

Fantastic Mr. Fox: It was much better than expected, and quite funny. I enjoyed it and recommend it to those even remotely interested.
Fourth Kind: Also better than expected. Fairly creepy, though the way they performed the film slightly detracted from its terror. Splitting screens and posing the actors as actors? Meh.

À bout de souffle (released as breathless in english), very nice old french film noir.
For Inception, it was OK, too much pointless action for my tastes, but at least they tried to have a plot for a change. But, confusing I heard this from other people, what was confusing about the ending |

One of my favorites from the many excellent EDs in this show.

I suspect that Breathless is a favorite of one or more members of the GAINAX staff. There's nothing else in either that episode, or the show itself, that makes any reference to the movie or the nouvelle vague either. When you have a different ED each week, it offers an opportunity for the staff to play around.

I watched Legend about a week ago. It had really nice costumes and effects. It's a movie before the digital age after all. I have seen it before as a child and was terrified of the fabulous looking devil then. Worth the watch for visuals, but I didn't get the nostalgia boost I was waiting for.
