Looks like the manga series 'Dark Gathering' is geting an anime adaptation

Synopsis

Keitarou Gentouga is a college freshman who hates ghosts. Unluckily for him, he has a knack for attracting spirits. Two years ago, this connection had led to him receiving a spiritual injury on his right hand, with his friend getting caught in the crossfire. The event caused him to become a shut-in, leaving him with very poor social skills. Fortunately, Keitarou is slowly starting to mingle with society, thanks to the help of his childhood friend, Eiko Houzuki.

As part of his rehabilitation, Keitarou takes on the part-time job of a private tutor, and his first pupil is none other than Eiko's cousin, Yayoi Houzuki. Besides being a child prodigy, there is another peculiarity regarding Yayoi—she has a spiritual constitution, just like Keitarou. However, in contrast to Keitarou, she yearns to encounter spirits, hoping to find the ghost that took her mother away. As Keitarou is dragged along by Yayoi and Eiko to haunted spots, his part-time job seems to be straying further and further away from its original purpose.

I got a chance to see the first two episodes at AX. They had some interesting moments. Good, but not great.

it was creepy at the end, keitarou smiling and eiko smiling... but yayoi is fun.

Well that was creepy! Effective episode for sure.

You have a main character utterly haunted by spirits, terrified, but he apparently gets a kick out of it. Yayoi is a girl that brutally had her parents taken from her by spirits and has decided to straight up get even and find whatever is left of her mother's spirit to bring home. Just going to the level of torturing evil spirits to create enough power to get what she wants. And then there's Eiko...who seems like a nice girl, but is probably a yandere . Wow, what a trio!

Impressive as well that they got this secured for 2-cours. So will definitely get to see how this situation plays out. A group of warped main characters getting into creepy situations. Should be fun, I think.

Very promising series, Hanakana doing creepy is always good. Didn't realize it was going to be two cour but I'm probably all in.

Not really into horror, so the horror elements being more of a premise then anything is fine by me. Just hope plot doesn't just limit itself to only being monster of the week, though imagine large part of it will be just that.

I get this feeling his friend isn't fully human or something given she wears those gloves all the time.

The later part where she goes all creepy makes me even more suspecious.

Would explain why she's intrested in him for apparently no reason.

I was skeptical at first that it would be like a Gegege Kitaro rip-off, but it turned out to be fairly good. A bit scary and some other shounen stuff.

I guess the only problem I had was that they explained why her eyes were like that and can see spirits, but there is no explanation to why she's now a super-loli that swings around all kinds of weapons. That's why I thought she wasn't human before watching the anime. But nope, human and also all of this stuff.

Also, I thought she was a he at first. Smart for the author to make her a loli and not a shota. How many times I've seen people pointlessly make two main characters both male, like D-Grayman, and give off too much gay vibes

It is Pokémon with horror. The author wasn't even trying to hide thus fact.
Although recently there are signs showing the author is moving into Megaten territory.

You weren't the only one

The animation level is consistent and while the scary scenes may not be at the level of Mieruko-chan, it looks like it will be far darker and gritter than it. This is another show perfect for watching at night.

The production committe is not hiding the fact, this is animated by OLM!

Can't wait to see animated so many things from the manga. If I had to draw a parallel, if Mieruko-chan is akin to Ghost (1990), Dark Gathering is akin to John Carpenter's Vampires.
