So National-level pilots(at least, the side characters, anyway) have an average of 80% in their stats?

Sigh...Lucas was weak as hell. His hype doesn't live up to his performance.

Now that was pretty damn good

Not much else to say since the majority of the episode was the fight

Lucas did quite well for his situation, given he did not have teammates quite anywhere near his or the competitions level

Next week we get our Sakai vs Yuuma

I was expecting him to solo Shia with one hit, then Ando and finally Wifrid.

He kills 0 in that battle despite of his hype. Aila is not amused.

I was disappointed by this ep...

Earlier, they show Lucas trash the Zaku team, and I was expecting him to really dish out the pain on Gunpla Academy, but noo....

His teammates are just his fuel tanks and didn't do anything battle-worthy... and this is 3 vs 1 from the start...

Wow that plot armor... is it really bad if adou and shia are take n out? The machines just got scratched. And shia has to say she got critically hit only to pull out a full heal pots.

Ill just copy/paste a Youtube comment of mine to save time lol

"Lucas did quite well for his situation, despite what everyone on here seems to think. His teammates were nowhere near his or his competitions level, so instead he smartly picked ones that would follow his strategy to allow him to fight longer, rather than teammates like in the Junya match who just did their own thing and got picked off as a result

In terms of piloting, the odds were definitely against him, as the Academy members were all near, at, or slightly above his level

As for gunpla, his Crossbone FC, is well, a Crossbone FC built to the level that all of its features are impeccably recreated. The Academy members on the other hand, each had a personally customized unit built by themselves (top qaulity ones at that), for themselves

The only thing about this fight that bothered me was that the Academy never seemed to have an issue with particle consumption (remember that in this show, the gunpla run off plavsky particles, not whatever their in-universe power-source is, though the plavsky particles do replicate the looks of different sources for proper looks), which is either a plot issue, or just a telltale sign that their Gunpla was just that much better"

That said, nobody here should have been that hyped for his performance in this round, we all knew he was going to lose from the start, we all know he was brought in just so the Academy could have someone near their level, and the victory that was supposed to hype him last episode was well, over a bunch of weaklings

1v1 or with a team of equally skilled players, the story would be much different, or at the very very least (due to the plot armor), a much more intense battle. But alas, they decided to just bring him in alone, which brings up another point of interest

So does Europe/other countries have different formats than? Given Lucas status it seems more like Europe works off of a standard 1v1 format (at least for whatever division/age group Lucas is in). I think it would have been been interesting had it been "Europe's Undefeated Junior Team", with equally skilled members and Lucas as the ace. But at the same time, then they would have had no business in Japan's nationals as a full European team. Food for thought

Lastly, so given these circumstances, does this fight deliver? I totally say it does, the field was gorgeous though surreal, animation was great, The End was awesome displaying more of its potential, and teamwork was actually a big deal here (as it kept Lucas alive, while the Academy used it to gain an advantage until the very end)

Opinion time:

The episode quite delivered in terms of action and pacing. Lucas always had the "ace attacker" vibe from the start so it's understandable that he would solo the GA's units half the time. What surprised me is that his two supporting units aren't total doo-doos since they actually do what they're set for: support. Also, seeing the Crossbone X1 animated in Full Cloth glory is always eye-candy, even though it's not the first animated Crossbone. (Damn it, Mao)

On the other hand, the battle also felt underwhelming. He decimated the Zakus in his previous match, why the change of heart and spare the G-Portent? He had that one on the platter, no doubt. His buddy could have chipped in a little and run down what's left of the unit after it's critically-damaged. But no, they didn't.

The End is more tricky. While some say he could have off-d Adou, I doubt he could pull it off easily with the Transient around. He could, but I think it's questionable still.

Transient, well... The way I see it, he was supposedly the highlight of the match for the GA's side. Having Lucas going toe-to-toe against it with a proper Crossbone is quite a feat. What I'm reading is that Lucas is skilled enough to fight against a fully-customised unit, and that Wilfrid has trouble fighting against a fully-tuned Crossbone despite his Gunpla's capabilities.

Overall, I'm just a little miffed that he did not off the G-Portent at the very least. But relying on skill, tactics and the environment instead of relying purely on custom gimmicks proves as a testament to what Lucas could do with a non-custom Gunpla.

I really enjoyed this episode. The battle were intense. While everyone and their mother knew that Lucas was going to lose, he gave an excellent performance. I think if G-Portent did not have the ability to self repair, Lucas could have won. The fact that Lucas almost beat Shia and Adou by himself is a testament to how strong he is.

This fight was one of the best in the series. This battle finally felt like a proper team battle that we have been missing. I do understand Crossbone did most of the work but the other that supported him played their role like a proper team.

Finally, they keep mentioning open tournament, could this be a hint for season 3?

Best? The whole battle just revolving around Lucas hit and run until he got stomped. He cannot even kill one or two before he got defeated. His hype is simply a BS. Don't know why the animator want to made him "scared" Sekai for no reason.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't recall this issue of particle consumption ever coming up before. In not a single battle previously, in either the first or second season, did a machine truly concern itself with running out of power. Seems like a bit of a cheap way to make the Full Cloth lose; was additionally hoping Nemesis would have better allies that piloted similar "pirate" suits like an Astray or the Dark Hound, etc... Oh well, was visually satisfying all the same.
