Earlier I was concerned about whether 26 episodes are really sufficient to cover 11 volumes at this pace, since we are only closing volume 3 tonight at episode 9. I didn't notice this earlier, but as I went back to flip through the novels, it seems like there won't be any issues after all, since though most, but not all, volumes are over 300 pages, some of them, 4 at least, are at 200+ pages. The first 5 volumes are all 300+ pages though. And I think volume 11 can be done in 2 episodes despite being at 300 pages. So I'm glad and not expecting any super condensation towards the end.

Btw, I just received a tweet from Kagami sensei (yeah I'm stalking him on twitter ), reminding us to watch episode 9 tonight, and promote it heavily lol! Talk about the author getting all excited over episode 9 himself lol!

Regarding the antics, Ferris is playing 'boke' and Ryner is doing the comebacks, and this is probably subjective, but they probably won't feel as "bad" or repetitive later. They might even feel refreshing and welcome as things become more serious as the plot deepens.

It starts with a flashback of Ryners past

Iris trying to hit Ryner catches her. Her sister behind him with a sword.

Dango... Iris blushes and overheats at her sister.

The letter is about the dragon they left behind.

Sion orders them to come get it back. (They're such slackers)

Ferris and Ryner meet the treasure hunter siblings, they have the relic.

They are looking for the relics too huh?

The fight for the relic.

Notices the Alpha Stigma. Knows about it.

Ryner saves Ferris with a slide.

Ohh another Hero relic a scythe, the loli handling it.

The guy stabs himself at the arm with the dragon dagger and his arm become the dragon itself.

Another treasure?! Some shovel or dagger?

Ferris suggest at a retreat. The gem is treasure that activates the Alpha Stigma berserk mode!

Ryner struggling for control. Lelouch voice taking over.

Soldiers fry. Ryners saves his friend but sees him as a monster.

Ryner despairs at the present as a monster. As his evil side takes over.

Next ep Ferris tries to reach Ryner.

I may have to watch episode 1 again. The hero was also called a monster. Same thing goes for Ryner. It could be those with Alpha Stigma are unstoppable by normal magicians that their fear overrides their sensibilities. Why consider a hero a monster?

Just saw the raw episode of ep.9, I have a few questions to those who read the light novels, I appreciate it a lot if you can answer them through spoiler or pm, thank you.

Spoiler for EPISODE 9, detailed summary and few questions about it:

- Starts off as flashback in a battlefield where a bunch of people has been scavenging the spoils of war, such as the armor, weapons, etc. of dead soldiers. You see Ryner as a kid standing on the battlefield, when some guy punched him telling him to help out like the rest of the kids.

(Here's my 1st question to the light novel readers: What sequence is this flashback? Is this BEFORE or AFTER Ryner was in that hellish orphanage where they were trained to death to fight for Roland?)

- Then were are back to Iris starting off with a punch towards Ryner and then results to Ryner X Ferris usual antics. Iris lost the letter when it got stuck in the dango box and was thrown away accidentally by Ferris. I believe the letter mentions that Sion got a report of a massacre that happened in that forest after the dragon hero relic disappeared (Please correct me if I dont get this right), I BELIEVE, Sion specifically WARNS Ryner and Ferris in the letter to NOT go back to the forest.

- It was basically Ferris misinterpretation or misunderstanding that they would go back and investigate why the dragon hero relic disappeared, since Iris couldnt recall exactly what Sion wanted them to do. So that's what lead to the event of Ryner X Ferris meeting the two siblings Kuu and Shuu (?). They learned that the mass murder was the two's doing.

- Great partnership shown here when Ferris signaled Ryner just by eye contact to proceed to battle them and split the two siblings. Too bad though that even though Ryner caught the brother by surprise due to his alpha stigma, Ferris on the other hand was caught by surprise by the sister's hero relic scythe weapon that can produce ice and she's freaking strong as well. Sending Ferris flying back and was saved by Ryner.

- The brother wanted Ryner's eyes and wanted him to awaken, he showed both his hero relics one was a comb that (I believe, correct me again if im mistaken, ty) he says it can block any attack even from god himself (something like that, i know the guy was really really confident about his artifact) and the other relic the dagger's true power was to allow any part of the human body to be able to use a flame magic (turning his arm into the dragon's head). Of course dealing with THREE relics, the both of them are at a disadvantage and Ferris decides to retreat, but Ryner didnt really want to.

(Here's my 2nd question to the light novel readers: I read that Ryner is the strongest magician of Roland for a reason, he was naturally talented with magic and trained with arts of assassination, so I guess Ryner would be able to beat the siblings easy IF he wanted them dead right? So I heard that they will meet the two siblings again, will Ryner get serious and try to kill them? Did Ferris finally witness Ryner's true strength (without the berserk alpha stigma)?

- The brother threw a crystal that probably acts as a catalyst to awaken Ryner's alpha stigma since he wants to take those eyes while they are used to its fullest. (I know the reason, from reading to some spoilers, but wanted to ask a more MAJOR SPOILERIFIC question towards the light novel readers, I will pm though). Ryner went berserk and warned Ferris to run away from him. Of course, quite a good moment when Ferris instead shows a lot of signs of concern and worry towards Ryner and gets really furious towards the sibling asking them what they've done to him.

- Here's the best part, the brother still being confident that his hero relic can block A.S.A.(Alpha Stigma Awakened) Ryner's attacks but man love how A.S.A. Ryner easily analyzed the structure and completely erases the relic and even the brother's arm, "Analyze Existence. Disappear, you insect!" Love this part and seeing how the brother simply gets his arm disappear bit by bit (tch.. too bad he was able to stop it by cutting of his arm). Man, would've been completely more badass if ASA Ryner hits them with his hadron cannons lol.

-Then as ASA Ryner says the awesome usual line that "First comes destruction, I bring forth nothing, bless anyone, will not save anyone. I will simply erase, completely." While destroying the whole dam forest, we see a flashback again of Ryner and a girl he befriended while helping out scavenging the spoils of war. Their village gets attacked by the pissed off soldiers and starts killing everyone, in an effort to save the girl he killed one of them. They figured out his eyes and everyone including the villagers and the girl he befriended and saved is scared of him calling him a monster. After end of flashback, we get to see Ryner in the present in his ASA form accepting the fact that he is indeed a monster.

(Here's my 3rd question to the light novel readers: the girl that Ryner fell in love with and sacrificed herself to save him (the reason why Ryner is stoic lol), is it that girl in this episode? If not, was she mentioned in the novels? or the sequel novel? Will she appear in this anime? Was her and Ryner's story/past ever explained in the novels?)

Wow, the Pink siblings weren't just there for being silly...
Instead, they turned out to be pretty strong... is what I would like to say, but it seems more like their equipment are strong, only.
Gotta love the instant failure flag the brother set up by going "This negates all magic attacks, hahaha!". And then he proceeds to get obliterated... partially.

It was a "cool" scene, but Ryner's clothes bursting apart felt unneeded... and it was funny.
Also, his "awakening" was dragged on too long...

His flashback... To be honest, I'm left a bit... "Haah? (-_-)"
You'd think at least his friend would have some respect for him if they actually got along so well instead of just going "Oh my god, you're a monster!" when he clearly saved her and didn't intend to harm the civilians.

Episode certainly delivered after that preview last week. Agreeing with serenade on most points, especially the hilarious matters with male_pink, and Ryner's clothes, though we have to remember who the target audience mainly is for that second matter.

Pretty hilarious how we had the little boy wanting to be the husband and then dying a few minutes later. Now that's a death flag right there!

Preview makes next weeks episode look it could be the best of the season, so i sure hope it'll be just that. Can't wait.

this episode kills me. It ends with an irritating cliff hanger. Well at least next week wouldn't be as boring as it should be with no one piece manga.

But man Ryner is insane while in awaken mode. The siblings looks silly specially the big brother lolz
